CorgiShinobi
I play PvP because it's the one thing that varies the most in Destiny. The Queen's Wrath stuff got old fast because all the bounties repeated along with the same three story missions. With no Ascendant Shards to get from the armor after completing Kill Orders, once you had your two pieces of armor, the best you could get was the sniper rifle and a ship through RNG. I got the sniper rifle early on, but didn't see the need to push forward for a ship, so my Kill Orders stacked and stacked. PvP will be the same maps, modes, and etc. However, the other players will keep things interesting, whether it's for the best or for the worst. I recently just learned that with Arc Blade, you can actually push a Titan out of his bubble when attacking. You won't do damage to him until he's outside, but I watched it happen in front of me and even repeated it myself. A bit of a pain, but it helps in Control and (for the moment being) Iron Banner as that's all IR is: Control.
TheMightyEthan
I don't mean just Destiny, I mean I don't really play PvP in any game. I've just never really liked it much.
Hot Heart
I think the Iron Banner stuff is confusing people because light levels don't factor into PvP (i.e. highest level is technically 20) and the actual weighting given to attack and defence values really isn't much. That's my understanding anyway. Besides, I'm not sure what people were expecting though. That some lower level scrubs would wander in and they could whale on them? MetalCaveman
If that's the case, then they never explained it, the Iron Banner was advertised as a game mode where your level and gear would make a difference, yet I got a better score with a level 10 auto rifle than with a Hawkmoon. The other problem is with faction rep, not only does the event only last 1 week, it only gives rep to the winning team, which means that a lot of times, people will leave the match as soon as the other team takes the lead, which makes it even harder to get rep. I would like to see it changed so that it still gives some rep to the losing team, also, if they could extend it for another week, that would be cool. In terms of the gear it gives, it's worthless if you already have a legendary set, it looks cool though, so I want it. Though I think it's going to be impossible to reach rank 3 before the event is over.
SomTervo
Yeah, I'm continuing to enjoy Destiny too whenever I play it. But having dropped full price on it, I can safely say that Shadow of Mordor and Alien Isolation are (almost literally) a million times more worth owning for that price. I could easily not touch Destiny again until Bungie have added more shit (for free, because if they don't I may never play it for long again.)
CorgiShinobi
Eh, I'm going to try to find someone again on r/fireteams for the Xyor strike. Two times I had people change their minds, so I decided I'd try to do some Crucible bounties in Iron Banner. I practically gave up in the last match in Iron Banner. I didn't quit, but seeing people literally running pass Control Zones that haven't been captured to run into a group of enemies for slaughtering; it's disheartening. I gave this game a solid month of attention, along with reasonably leveling my non-Raid armor to make Light Level 27.
Strangelove
Did the raid up to the last boss. Got the raid gauntlets to go with my raid chest armor. Now I just need the boots. And maybe the bond.
TheMightyEthan
Yay I'm level 29! Also I found this: And got all my characters to legal drinking age:
Strangelove
I think Ive finally hit a wall in this game. I feel like Ive already seen everything the game has to offer. In fact the only thing I feel I have left to do is get to level 30. I just need one more piece of raid armor. Otherwise theres no weapon, armor or any other kind of item I want. I even have a legendary sparrow now. I dont know.
Alex Heat
I want your Hunter's shader, Ethan.
TheMightyEthan
I know, I love it. *Edit* - @Strangelove: I got to kind of the same place once I really realized I'm probably not going to get to do the raid ever (time problems). That's also when I got to level 29, cause I spent the ascendant shards I'd been saving for my raid gear on my regular legendary gear instead. SomTervo
I'm seriously holding out hope that they'll add more unique events/raids, and fast. Otherwise this is potentially one of the greatest disappointments in gaming history- not for what it is, but what it could have been.
Nexus
Finished the story. Now I need to get people together to play strikes and the other shit.
Popular Post Mister Jack
The longer I have to wait, the more pissed I get at the lack of matchmaking in raids. I want to play the vault of glass! Everyone says it's really fun and I want to play it, but I can't because I can't get five people together! We're all adults, we have jobs and shit! How am I supposed to coordinate that many people to take that much time out of their day simultaneously?
CorgiShinobi
How I got to Rank 2 in Iron Banner, got my cloak, and dropped in because screw getting to Rank 3 with twice the reputation requirement. Not to mention the Legendary Weapons for Iron Banner kinda suck.
TheMightyEthan
New hotfix: SummaryThe most recent hotfix (1.0.2.2) for Destiny goes live on October 14th. This hotfix includes a number of changes to weapon balance across archetypes (e.g., lowering Auto Rifle effectiveness and increasing Scout Rifle damage output), specific weapons (Vex Mythoclast and Pocket Infinity) and includes a number of fixes to issues with the Templar encounter in the Vault of Glass. We're still working on a larger update which will address under-performing Exotics and overall class balance. GeneralFixed a bug where the Valkyrie-O5X Ship was the same as the Aurora Lance Classes Titan Unbreakable: Fixed an issue with the perk granting more agility than intended WarlockBrimstone: Perk can now activate if player is airborne Weapons GeneralFixed some issues related to quick weapon swapping Auto Rifles Base Damage decreased by 2% Reduced Precision Damage multiplier from 1.50 -> 1.25 (head shot bonus) Stability decreased by 4% - 17% (driven by stat value) Hand CannonsIn-air accuracy now increased Scout Rifles Base damage increased by 6% Damage vs. Combatants increased by 6% - 25% (based on tier) Improved target acquisition, plus additional recoil tuning. Shotguns Decreased base damage at maximum range (falloff) by 20% Shot Package Perk now has a slightly wider cone of fire The Rangefinder and Shot Package perks are now mutually exclusive Exotic Weapons Vex Mythoclast Base Damage decreased by 34% Increased Precision Damage multiplier from 1.25 -> 1.50 (headshot bonus) Pocket InfinityEnhanced Battery Perk has now been replaced with the Speed Reload Perk Perks Metal Detector: Fixed a bug that prevents this perk from actually providing additional ammo Lightweight: Fixed a bug that allowed additional agility to apply even when a weapon was stowed Activities StrikesEngram rewards from strikes now appear in the post-game Activity Summary Raid - Vault of Glass - Templar Encounter Kill volume added to sniper platforms to prevent players from sitting on top of them Relic is now removed and respawned if the holder leaves the playable area DestinationsThe Fallen have also retreated from their hold over the Rocket Yard to discuss a new takeover plan I assume that last one refers to Loot Cave 2.0. This is the fix that I've been waiting for to buff scout rifles, though I'd also like that buff to exotics.
Alex Heat
Yeah, they moved the broken down cargo truck that provided the vantage point to the Loot Cave 2.0.
SomTervo
... Did they just make shotguns work better at range?!
TheMightyEthan
Worse. Decreased damage at max range.
SomTervo
Lol oh yeah Nah that makes sense. Shotguns are a bit OP up close
CorgiShinobi
On the topic of shotguns being OP... If you ever have Destiny in your PS4 and you look at the Leaderboard for Friends' Crucible Points and Strike Kills, you might notice I'm pretty high up. The Strike Kills at 539 is because I did the Weekly Heroic by myself, which if you got Ice Breaker is very much doable. For Crucible, well... I'm a Hunter, but my style is rather Titan-like. While I can keep my distance, I rather get the job done with a ol' fashion knife to the face.
TheMightyEthan
My favorite thing about Thorn: Double headshot! What does it mean?!
CorgiShinobi
I don't think it's called Armor Piercing for Thorn (I forget the name as I still haven't finish its last step), but any ability that revolves around piercing usually means your bullets can go through multiple enemies. In the case of sniper rifles, it can also mean that the bullets can go through walls. Seems to vary on the sniper rifle, but for example my Final Boss can do such a thing. It's really only handy in Crucible and on Control. If you have a Primary weapon, it's good for crowd control but I personally wouldn't chose it over an ability that could help Stability or Reload. TheMightyEthan
Thorn is the only weapon I've seen penetration on besides sniper rifles.
CorgiShinobi
I believe there are a few handcannons and I believe auto rifles that can have the ability. I think I even saw a Scout Rifle with it, but like I said it's cool for moments, but most time I'd go with a different stat/ability.
