They'll definitely need to figure out separate rotations now as there is a big hubbub around the new content taking center stage.

Who else has The Dark Below? Kinda wished I hadn't ranked up the different vendors before quitting until the expansion given the new commendation system. Not a big deal however because the normal difficult is still Level 24-29 friendly. You'll still be able to buy the new gauntlets and boots for Marks, but chest pieces and helmets require a commendation. Also class items for Marks, but there are only really three different styles of cloak for my Hunter, even if they have different names.

I'm pissed that I don't retroactively get commendations for all my vanguard levels, it takes forever for each level now.  I'm seriously considering deleting and then remaking my exact same character just to reset my vanguard rep.

Accommodation? I have to buy a house just to upgrade?!

:bun-swear:

I swear there was an "A" when looking at the vendors last night, so, uh...

Anyway, yeah, you've got to rank up vendors to get armor or a weapon. Not bad for anyone who had some odd hundred points before ranking up, crap news for anyone who is 2300 points from the nearest Rank. I imagine you could still find new armor elsewhere, but from what I've read recently is that Engrams are still on the old loot RNG. Considering I still get tons of Rustburner for my Hunter, yeah.

640 Sapphire Wire and I hope Bungie gives us something to do with it in Endgame.

Honestly, I wouldn't. You'd have to drag them through the story missions and get them past level three to even get purple packages anyway.

It's not as bad as I thought because a) you only need commendations for the helmets, chestpieces and weapons, and b) the new weapons aren't that vital. Level is far more important for keeping up with the other content.

I went and got some new gloves and boots and I was back to level 29 in no time. Plus, I'm finding I'm getting bounties and other things done pretty quickly and regularly, so I'm already 3/4 to next rep level after reaching it last week (whoops).

Funny thing is, I kept the purple package at the postmaster and saved a load of engrams, but it looks like they were rolled from the old loot list. Shame because I was getting tons of purple things even from blues. Got the Zombie Apocalypse HMG (when I needed an arc HMG, too!), the Vanquisher AR, Lord High Fixer, boots for more Scout rifle ammo...but most importantly, a Shadow Price with a better sight and two decent perks for PvP (radar always active, bottom half of mag does increased damage). Almost as good as a SUROS...

Figured I'd address this properly now I've spent some more time with the game and can say for certain: whether it was different or not before, vanguard rep is always 2500 for a new level.

As for my general thoughts, I don't think the changes were that bad. It will suck even more for lone wolves, but then you'll always want people to play with to get the most out of it anyway; that's what the game's about.

Fortunately, I've gotten a regular fireteam (no thanks to you guys!) and we're all pretty decent, so we can do the new Nightfall Strike on a Tuesday then do the Heroic Strike straight after or later in the week, as well as clearing bounties and public events together. I've already levelled up my vanguard three times this week thanks to the XP boost from Nightfall. Forget commendations; it's the mark cap that hurts.

My main issue is that all the new auto rifles suuuuuck. I know there's the consensus that ARs are a little too overpowered, particularly in Crucible, so it feels like Bungie have tried to address that by making all the new options low impact, rapid fire, unstable peashooters where the old choices had a balance between the two styles of quick & weak vs. slow & strong. Might have to start levelling up New Monarchy a fuck-tonne as the factions' gear stayed the same besides numbers going up.

I would argue that the default Up For Anything auto rifle is a good vendor auto rifle because its perks compensate the auto rifle weakness of range. I bought the default as my first updated auto rifle, so I have the experience with it. That said, having two perks to compensate one weakness left myself wanting more from a Legendary.

When Bungie gave everyone a Legendary Engram, mine turned into this:

It's not as awesome as I had hoped for in Crucible, but it's great for PvE. I also have a great randomized scout rifle as of late, but haven't gotten it up there with its perks yet.

EDIT: Forgot, it has Field Scout, a.k.a. More Ammo Capacity, which bumps it up to 56. In PvE I use that perk to fully utilize Crowd Control on computer enemies. If I take it into PvP, I choose the enhanced stability perk.

Yeah, I got the vendor Up For Anything (got Payback SOS as a purple package, but that really is terrible) and had to respec it to compensate. Even then, it's still not a patch on what my ol' Shadow Price used to do (especially my randomised one with near SUROS perks). I also got that same AR as my gift but with even worse perks than current... oh, well, just have to keep hoping.

Thanks again Hot Heart for helping me with the Weekly Heroic! It got me those snazzy new Radiant Dance Machine boots!

I think it was my connection because as I'm playing right now, enemies are either invisible or pop up when I enter an area. I even have a clip I'll edit into this post later on with some weirdness from all the lag.

Like, that's how I cheesed the Phogoth strike when I had to solo Thorn. It took a while, but I did it without dying at Phogoth. I hope you don't think I'm trying to sound cool, just I swear I don't die that much. Felt bad you had to revive me five times.

Anywho, while I'm sure it has been my connection the last few days, I think Bungie needs to admit there have been connection issues on their side too.

I assume that because no one else has posted any of the the information about House of Wolves, folks round these parts have lost interested in Destiny. Justifiably so, since the game offers nothing but pointless grinding, it seems. For those who still can't get enough of the MP grinding, here's a trailer to hype the newest grinding options.

I still play regularly. I know Strangelove does too.

I'm only really logging in for the weekly event stuff now (Nightfall and Heroic strike) and then occasionally to level up some stuff or help out with a raid. It's still a great game if you can find a regular bunch of people to play with, but definitely in need of some fresh content.

I quit when DA:I came out and for an unrelated reason I had no free time, and then I just never picked it back up again.  At this point I'm waiting til House of Wolves drops, at which point I'll play through the new content and probably drop it again.

So, just watched a Twitch stream which showed off some of the new stuff. I missed some of the beginning, but I got the jist, and it all sounds promising.

- Everything can be upgraded to the new max level and it won't reset the progression at all. That means your old Vault of Glass gear will be relevant again (and it's much prettier than the Crota stuff), your old weapons will find their former glory (Shadow Price, woo!) and you won't have to go through that friggin' Xur upgrade, stat reset, exotic shard crap. It's done using the new endgame material called 'Etheric Light' (Fallen love them some glimmer) which comes from the PvE, PvP and Nightfall stuff along with glimmer and a little bit of weapon parts/class mat. Essentially, it means everyone will look very diverse now and you can put more emphasis on getting the right mix of perks from your gear rather than just rely on raid stuff. Which feeds into...

- All the new weapons can be "reforged", which is the same as with the Iron Banner gear. Essentially, you reroll the perks to try and get the ones you want.

- The Speaker now offers all sorts of currency exchanging. Shards for energy, energy for shards, shards for glimmer, shards for motes, etc. Well needed, really.

- New vendor/faction gear (and not just recolours) and most should be selling all sorts of sets.

I've probably missed some details but those were the major ones for me.
