Faiblesse Des Sens
Thanks. One more thing. What's a good app for task managing? What do you mean? If you mean closing apps, then don't. This myth died several years ago. I prefer Tasks for its simplicity, widget, and Google tasks integration. Any.Do's widgets sucks. Though lately I've been using Wunderlist which so far blows both out of the water. If you're on a 4.1 or higher phone check out Notable for reminder notifications. AirDroid is nice but if you just want the texting portion try out MightyText. As for keyboards I recommend just trying a couple. I'm a huge fan of SwiftKey since it allows the most mistakes while typing. Its swiping capabilities are alright. My favorite overall keyboard and I hope they improve the swiping. Kii is basically the 4.2 keyboard but available for any phone and with tons of customization so that gets a recommendation. If you want to try Swype make sure you download the beta. My favorite news reading app ATM is Press. It's a paid app but I found it to be far more consistent than Feedly which would have trouble detecting gestures and remembering my info. Flipboard is far too slow since its one article at a time. Try out SleepTime if you use your phone as an alarm. Simple and easy way to wake up without being disturbed too much. Free app. If you care about SMS then SMS backup and restore is great for exactly what it says. Mint is useful if you want to manage your money/just view your bank accounts on your phone. Chrome to phone lets you send links/text from your browser (FF/Chrome) to your phone. I use Solid Explorer for file management. By far the best. That's about it for daily use stuff. I also use Pocket and ScreenFilter. Now that you can use it I'd recommend Google Authenticator to add extra security to your Google account. Works with some other accounts, too. deanb
Also Samsungs comes with it built in. Hold down the Home button.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Can you actually close apps that way? Standard Android implementation is that if you swipe them away from the multi-tasking menu then they only disappear from the multi-tasking menu. To actually close the app (which really, you shouldn't be doing unless it's fucking app) you have to long press on the item in the multi-tasking menu and click "app info." deanb
You can close Active Apps as well as clear the RAM. Which yeah is good for misbehaving apps, especially FB (though it's getting better).
Faiblesse Des Sens
So wait, does the S3 have a menu button there on the left or is that a multi-tasking button? Also, "fucking app" should be "fucking up"
deanb
That'd be my Note (but Touchwiz is pretty much same between them). Multi-tasking button is holding down home button, same as it always been. That's a screenshot of the built in Task Manager I mentioned. You get to it either via the icon in app drawer, or the multi-tasking menu at the bottom (so there's a tip for Mister Jack) Unsure what you're looking at on the left though in the previous screenshot. There's the USB, 3G(from Powertoggles), and Steam in the notification shade. Active Apps icons is just a sort of loading circle for an icon. Then icons for the running apps. Faiblesse Des Sens
Oh okay, that pic makes it clear. That's basically standard multi-tasking with a touchwiz button at the bottom to ask task management. Touchwiz looks so... outdated compared to the standard Android UI. I was talking the left physical button as other phones have a multi-tasking button.
Mister Jack
Turns out I can close all my tasks with one press if I need to. I just didn't realize it at first.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Turns out I can close all my tasks with one press if I need to. I just didn't realize it at first. You really should not be doing this. It will kill your battery. It's a terrible, terrible habit and I don't know why you're doing it right from the start in the first place. Luftwaffles
I'm with FDS on that. Let your phone run the way it wants to run. The whole "Android needs a task killer" myth is a thing of the past.
TheFlyingGerbil
Has anyone used mySMS? is it just for SMS or can you instant message too? I had a bit of a mare with Skype* so am putting up with whatsapp at the moment which I don't love but is at least semi-functional. *kind if annoying it's so gimpy on windows phone since they both owned by Microsoft. No way is it a replacement for msn messenger.
Faiblesse Des Sens
mySMS looks to be the same thing as WhatsApp. Looks a bit nicer though and unlike WhatsApp I would bet their privacy isn't so sketchy

deanb
I want someone to figure out a way to get the tablet connected to a PC, and use it to play games. That would be fan-fucking-tastic. Not entirely sure on what implementation you're aiming at so here is three example choices: http://chrome.com/maze/ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.digitalsquid.droidpad - this is somewhat a bit of a hit and miss though. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.splashtop.remote.pad.v2 - Essentially RemotePlay (though I think you've mentioned you use this already in the past)
Eleven
I take back what I said about PunchQuest earlier. Too much grinding, even with the coin doubler. Apparently it was due to a recent update, I don't know when I stopped playing it for months and just recently picked it up. It's horrible. Too bad. Mister Jack
If anyone is posting here on their mobile devices using tapatalk, there's a new tapatalk 4 beta out. It's not too shabby.
Faiblesse Des Sens
And it's free.
Eleven
I'm using it. I use tapatalk 2 on my phone and tapatalk HD on the iPad. Those are the latest on iOS afaik, Edit: Well apparently 4 means Android 4.0 API so I bet Tapatalk 4 is the same as Tapatalk 2 on iOS. Different design though to be consistent with each OS. I have a problem with paragraphs though, it doesn't seem to recognize the spaces. So I have to edit it here a lot. Mister Jack
It's actually rather different, at least from what I'm seeing. It works a little more like steam's mobile app does, and you can just swipe to the right to bring up a navigation menu. It's nice.
P4: Gritty Reboot
To repost what I mentioned in the status section, I've been playing the Magic 2014 app for Android. It's pretty killer, though unlocking all the decks is $10 as an in-app purchase. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stainlessgames.D14

P4: Gritty Reboot
I'm reading that you get a few decks and it locks you out of the higher levels of the campaign. I've only played a few matches so I'm not sure though.
Eleven
So can you play this on any Android phone? I think there aren't "tablet" apps for Android, right? Apps are apps. Or do they limit you to devices? I'm wondering if you could theoretically play this on, say, an HTC First, with it's small screen. I'm asking because the iOS app is for iPad only, but I would really like to play on my phone.
