Apps that have caught your eye

Apps aren't done by Tablet/Phone as such, but they can be restricted on what devices can play it. I'm on a Note and it says compatible, but I've quite a large screen. I could re-link my Wildfire but that's on GB so if it was listed as incompatible I wouldn't know if it's due to screen size or android version.

Yeah, the store might not let you install it, but if you sideload anything it should work on anything. It just might crash, the devs might have a built in message about not supporting your res, etc.

Rithm.

http://thenextweb.com/apps/2013/07/24/rithm-for-ios-calls-itself-snapchat-for-music-and-it-might-make-song-messaging-a-hit/

I unfortunately don't have a lot friends who are really into music. Or maybe just not the music I like. Or maybe I do I just don't know it yet. But this shit here will make it real easy to share what I've been listening to.

It's basically search a song and it'll show you matches which could either be previews or full songs. Don't know how full song works but it may be linking to soundcloud, afaik from the few songs I tested. Anyhoo, it sends a link via SMS to your friends and they just tap it and it opens up and plays the song/preview (previews link to spotify/rdio).

Of course you could just go into youtube, search for it, then copy the link and then send it. But this is a lot easier.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Tasharen.SG

I got this on Amazon other day. It's not on the super cheap end but I'd say it's reasonably priced (might be even more so in US). Not had a chance to do any MP, I imagine it bumps up difficulty a fair bit. Also no Play Games support yet which'd be hugely welcome.

Basically it's a mobile RTS, so stripped down to bare bones and a full round is playable in about 5 minutes, longer if you do the larger maps, more bots and such. There's power-ups you unlock as you level up in experience that let you do stuff like make an instant fleet, upgrade how many ships can flow down a path, spy on enemy for a bit, take over stars quicker, etc.

It doesn't explain some very important things:

1) Can you send entire songs

2) Where do you source the songs from

3) What makes it like SnapChat? Does it delete the songs after one listen?

4) How is it legal

Yeah the article fails to mention a lot of things.

1. Yes and No. The search result can come from soundcloud. So it streams from there. Other results come from Rdio/Spotify, so if you have an account you could probably stream the entire song. If not, then you just get a 30 second preview i think.

2. Rdio, soundcloud, spotify is all I saw.

3. It's not like Snapchat at all. I think that one is mentioned in the article. It doesn't even delete the song (or the URL/link) once you play it.

4. Probably since those services are free, it would be ok. I know Rdio has an API that lets you stream songs from your app. I imagine that's how the other service integration works too.

Edit: I guess to clarify, it doesn't really send songs. You just text a link to your friend and on the rithm website your "message" is there.

It must do on Google, on Amazon it's £1.28 for "full". I had to get my housemate to get the price for me (cos all the app stores have this annoying thing where if you buy/own the app it changes from "£6.66" to "Play/Install".

How is that annoying? I'd rather it remembered I bought the app than it charge me again.

Can have it so the button isn't the price, nothing saying that the price needs to be on the button, nor that removing the price from the button would  mean you'd have to be charged each time you installed it.

e.g this

Instead of current

Could also maybe have it so Play doesn't just say "launch" or whatever on an app you Bought" through Amazon App store.

Maybe of interest to some of you. Seems a bit like the Z-Boards but in app-form. Kinda makes a tad bit of sense over the specialised keyboards and much cheaper than the stuff Razer was trying. Probably more for slower paced games mind.

That app is designed terribly. I guess they aren't aware that Android has design guidelines these days. Hell that doesn't even match the iOS7 guidelines. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with all of that web2.0 gloss and reflections. Functionality wise it looks okay. It's combining a few features that other things have into one app.

Eh, what they've got show so far looks like it's fine enough. Holo is just guidelines, more so folks don't complete fuck up and function will generally beat out form (hence me using Perfect Viewer). As far as "things made for PC gamers" it could be a lot worse in the visual department. At least it's consistent.

Most comics are quite terrible on the layout so they tend to drop twists a tad bit early. They appear on the same page or on the next page (Side by side). Visual novels get around that by dictating the pacing while including music for impact. If done correctly, you can have quite an amazing time.

If you're like me in that you seem to change wallpapers every few days, I can't recommend Muzei enough. It'll pull down wallpapers from various sources, and with the addition of MultiMuze, allow the app to change the wallpaper itself after a predetermined amount of time. It's free also.
