deanb
So I had a Gameboy Color as like my first console of my own ever. And for it I had Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Pinball, Pokemon Trading Card Game, some Lego puzzle game, Warioland 3(?), Game n Watch 2, n maybe one or two others. I've gotten a pretty decent emulator for my phone, so currently playing Pokemon TGC again. So what great GBC games are out there? I'm pretty sure I've missed a lot of them. Oh and ones that don't require quick reflexes, cos it's pretty decent but it's still on a phone, not proper buttons, so sucks in that regards (as with all phone emulators). I still find myself tapping options directly on the screen instead of with the A/B
Mister Jack
Talkin 'bout piracy, are we? I thought that was a no no.
TheMightyEthan
I still find myself tapping options directly on the screen instead of with the A/B I was trying to play Pokemon on my phone a while ago and I could NOT stop doing that. deanb
Talkin 'bout piracy, are we? I thought that was a no no. Well no, just asking what good games there are on the Gameboy Color. The piracy rule is no explaining how to do it, and linking to places of that nature though discussion is fine. Mainly because this is a US based site, and there's weird thinkings on piracy there where just linking to a place that offers pirated content is as good as offering up and creating the pirated content yourself. And with stuff like ACTA n SOPA n PIPA floating around it's better safe than sorry. Same reason I'm trying to work out if the EU cookie law applies to this place or not. TheFlyingGerbil
Links Awakening DX is the most obvious one, but are you just limiting yourself to the colour games? There's a wealth of classic gameboy games.
Strangelove
Link's Awakening DX. Its the best game on the Gameboy. The decade after really fucked up Link when compared to this. Especially those DS games.
TCP
Link's Awakening but almost equally as good is the Oracle Zelda games.
TheFlyingGerbil
I've got those somewhere but never got to play them before my GBA broke.
TCP
I have more nostalgia for Link's Awakening, but part of me wonders if the Oracle games are just plain better. It'd be interesting to see what someone playing the three of them for the first time thought.
Pojodin
Though I had only played it briefly, Dragon Warrior Monsters seemed to be quite good. I know a friend of mine absolutely loved the game back around the time it was released.
Baconrath
I have a copy of Robopon, which is pretty much a Pokemon clone except instead of beating up the local wildlife and stuffing them in small capsules you go around and capture robots with magnets and then keep the extra ones in your garage. I wouldn't exactly recommend it, though. Only one version of the three was released in the US. I wish they had been a little clearer on what things are strong and weak to what 'cause they threw in some weird elements like vaccuum. The cartridge did have an infrared thing on it that you could use TV remotes to do stuff with. I think the robot designer needed a raise because some of the Robopon were uuugggglllyyy. Some of them would start out alright only to eventually morph into a monstrosity. EDIT: Dean, did that Lego puzzle game happen to be Alpha Team? deanb
Yes it was, I probably should have updated the thead when I ended up digging all of them out of my mums attic.
excel_excel
Oh hell yeah Pokemon TCG was awesome! Perfect Dark was great for its time on GBC, and Resident Evil Gaiden was a good but weird take on the Resi formula. You walked around and fought zombies in a weird first person mode where a trigger moved from right to left and you had to attack them at the reticule was over them. Was weird. Dragon Warrior Monsters was badass and a really great take on the Pokemon formula. Super Mario Bros Deluxe is impressive purely for all they managed to stuff into one cart, it even has a boo race mode and the entire original Super Mario Bros 2 as well. it has so many extras but I doubt it'd work great on your phone. Pokemon Pinball is pretty awesome, that's worth checking out. I've heard good things about Dragon Warrior III on GBC. And Survival Kids is about kids suviring on a island but features such an open ended structure that really works.
CorgiShinobi
The only Game Boy Color games I kept were the Zelda games; Oracle of Time, Oracle of Seasons, and Link's Awakening DX. I wish I kept a few more of my OG Game Boy games like Mole Mania, a non-Mario Miyamoto game, though it is on the Nintendo eShop. It's one of those games where it would have been cool to still hang onto, but not actually own again. I had a lot of crap games, but now that I'm older I bet I could have beaten that Batman TAS Game Boy game too. All I have from that era is Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Metroid II: Return of Samus, and Kirby's Dream Land 2. (Kinda wish I kept my Tiny Toons games too.) TCP
Metroid II is soo good. That game gets so much crap, but I played the hell out of it when I was 8. The first game I ever beat
