Strangelove
Maybe Im losing my mind, but for some reason Im having a hard time flying in this game. Not only are the buttons to ascend and descend really sensitive, but I keep confusing them with each other. I normally dont do that.
Hot Heart
Yeah, they're a bit tricky at first and there's no such thing as 'mastering' them. Fortunately, I discovered that any races involving them stack up time as you reach checkpoints, so you don't need to use the unreliable superfast speed, just get a decent pace. You ought to have seen the flying controls in LEGO Batman 2...
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, flying is really finicky, but eventually you get used to it.
toxicitizen
Started playing Trails in the Sky today. I'm about 7 hours in and so far I'm enjoying it a lot. Which is kinda surprising considering how uneventful and even mundane the story has been so far. People aren't kidding when they say it's a very well-written and fleshed out world. The first five or so hours were pretty much someone going "I have to go on a trip, please do all my side-quests for me" and then you just kinda do that for a while. And yet, I kept playing all day because every little bit of lore or dialogue has been interesting or entertaining. By comparison, in Tales of Symphonia you're on a quest to save the world pretty much right off the bat, which sounds exciting but holy shit I was so fucking bored the entire time I played. The combat system is alright, too. It's standard turn-based RPG fare but with Disgaea-like grid-based movement. It's not the most exciting system ever but there's some room for strategy, which is always nice. Edited July 24, 2014 by FLD
Eleven
Dust: An Elysian Tail is awesome. Really like it, controls are great, combat is easy, kinda button mashy, but it feels really good. It's exactly what I'm looking for though, button mashy with lots of enemies and insane combo counts. The story is nothing special, you lost your memory, you have to learn about yourself, while being the selfless hero that you are and helping everyone you talk to along the way. Voice acting is good, sometimes though Fidget, the flying bat/cat companion of yours gets irritating but it's fine overall... This is what I was expecting Muramasa to be. I tried that game (on the Vita), I kinda didn't like the combat much. It feels weird if you can't attack unless there are enemies. Maybe I'll give that a try again someday, but I doubt it will be better than Dust. I've also been playing Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (BAOB). It's not that good, It's not that bad either though. I wish there was more combat, or opportunities to do combos. I get bored while playing, but I pick it up again anyway. I will probably be able to finish it this way. Maybe after this I'll play Origins. It'll sure be better than BAOB. Edited July 25, 2014 by Agent 1011
Strangelove
So uhhh, Im still playing Lego Marvel and I was trying to do a side mission that takes place on a roof and you have to race remote controlled cars....what the fuck is this shit? Is there something Im missing about the controls? They seem really really bad.
Mr. GOH!
The racing mini games in Lego Marvel are shit and not worth doing.
TCP
Try it remote play via the Vita where you control the speed via just touching the back touch pad. Atrocious.
Strangelove
Yeah, there's one on top of the helicarrier where you have to race Maria Hill on an ALMOST invisible road....goddammit. I hate it. Edited July 29, 2014 by Strangelove
TCP
Yeah, that made me quit the game.
Strangelove
And you cant even skip the dialogue either. you have to hear it each time.
TheMightyEthan
The regular car races on the ground are super easy if you just get a cab. Most of the "fast" cars have super spastic handling, but the cab is very manageable. Doesn't help with the one off special races though. Hot Heart
Cabs suck. You want the Cloud Racer or whatever it's called. It looks stupid as hell but it's got a turbo and the other shoulder button makes it hover so that it drives right over other cards but still counts for checkpoints. That Maria Hill one does suck though. I think it took me a few tries. As with all the races, it's about pace more than haste; just stay consistent, don't take any risks or mess up. TheMightyEthan
Cabs may not be the absolute best ones but they're abundant so you can just grab a random one whenever you want to race, and I never came even remotely close to losing a race with them. Saturnine Tenshi
Mainly Divinity: Original Sin and Guild Wars 2. D:OS is great. It really took some convincing to get me to buy an Early Access game, but this one was worth it. I see madbassman logged in to GW2 sometimes. TheFlyingGerbil
I'm playing Ni No Kuni at the moment. I've just left Castaway Cove which I believe is about a quarter of the way through. Really enjoying it so far. It's gorgeous to look at and the story and characters are all likeable so far. It;s ace to have a Welsh character too. Just hope the difficulty doesn't ramp up too dramatically. Not entirely sure I've figured the whole familiar thing out. i've been reading guides so i think i'vw got most of the best ones that are available for my charscters so far but not sure why you can keep 400 of them, what the heck are you meant to do with them all? Mal
There are no difficulty spikes that I am aware of. Worst comes worst you just solo some bosses with Oliver and keep the other people knocked out. Personally I'm playing Trails in the Sky. Lively world indeed. A good portion of NPCs may hold a conversation with you. Gameplay wise... this game really discourage grinding since EXP drops off fast. Only thing that I dislike is the OST. All the sounds are rather sharp and it get repetitive fast. Edited August 5, 2014 by MaliciousH
Strangelove
Is Spec Ops: The Line supposed to be harder than most shooting games or is it just me and my shitty skills? On normal, this is easily the toughest shooting game Ive played. I wonder if it was intentional or not.
Hot Heart
I did joke that it was a satire of cover mechanics too, but there is only one section I found particularly tough. But, boy, was that really tough. During Chapter 13 "Adams": "Stryker, heading our way!" "Get to that yacht" Over and over and over... It's the new, "Look at all that juice!"
Strangelove
It just seems like you can take less hits in Spec Ops than in most other games. Not only that, but it seems like whenever you stick your head out, absolutely everyone aims at you all at once.
toxicitizen
I don't think it's supposed to be harder per se but I've heard theories that they intentionally made the controls a bit janky to tie into the overall theme of the game. If that's the case, it's actually kind of genius and, considering everything else about the game is pretty well thought out, I'm inclined to think that might be the case.
