Yeah, I don't care if they ripped off the biggest media franchise on the planet. Getting up in a tizzy about it stinks of some real "leave the multi billion dollar company alone" vibes to me. So I totally think they've ripped off a lot of Pokemon stuff, and as an IP lawyer, I think that is NotCool™, but I also think that is a fight for Ninty/The Pokemon Company to have (or not) at their discretion. If they think it's problematic, they are quite capable of putting on their big-boy-pants and taking on the devs themselves. Nothing weirder than people defending corps against other corps. TheMightyEthan
StarCraft Remastered is one of those games where you look at it and think "yep, this looks just like how I remember it" Then you click over to the original graphics and Spoiler

deanb
i've being playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker on Steamdeck. Runs pretty well, though loading can be slow. Some mechanics are quite obtuse - it's very heavy on Pathfinder mechanics. Had to have a wiki open for the first few hours (especially as the early main quest has some weird triggers from some of the sidequests you also get so it wasn't super clear how to advance). The kingdom stuff is relatively barebones - mostly making decisions and such. Budling up your kingdom is picking stuff off a list. Though I am early days with it and I think from what I can see there's options to expand into neighbouring land.
MetalCaveman
Borderlands 3, feels weird to go from Handsome Jack to what looks to be a pair of glorified streamers (or whatever the Borderlands equivalent of a streamer is lol), there's also a bunch of characters I don't recognize but they're apparently supposed to be pretty important, and from what I've seen, they're from Tales from the Borderlands, so I guess that's now required reading playing? New Claptrap is also very annoying, more than usual, during a mission: "Hey! You're there, climb the tower to get the thing!" "Did you know you can climb the tower? Try it!" "Have you tried climbing that tower? Bet it'd be fun!" "Guess we need a tutorial, press this button and then this button and you'll be able to climb!" All in a really short amount of time, can't even look around or fight enemies without repeatedly being told what to do. Even Navi wasn't this annoying lol. It looks and plays way better than the previous two though, so that's neat.

deanb
I'm finally playing Yakuza Like a Dragon and this game is so fucking fun. Just silly goofy goodness. I knew it was RPG based (specifically Dragon Quest) but wasn't aware it did a bit of Pokemon too. I do occasionally have to check on conversion rates now and then to grasp the impact of like what is being offered. "I'm not risking my life for 5,000 yen" has more impact when I know that's about £30. (heck it'd be understandable sentiment for £5,000). I'm fairly confident I'm still very much in the tutorial stage (especially as no kareoke so far). Nut yeah it's being fun.
MetalCaveman
The Evil Within, man this game goes from 0 to 1000000 real fast lol. Spoiler I have two theories, either we're in some hell world, a separate dimension, or we're inside Castellanos' head (which would make sense with the whole WITHIN part of Evil Within lol), otherwise, it feels really weird to have it go from teleporting dude of doom to "GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY IT'S ALL GONE TO SHIT" world ending kind of stuff. Only a couple of hours in, but so far it's pretty good, even though it has a fair amount of jank.

The last DLC is kinda skippable, though. TEW 2 is also very good. Not as spooky as the original but I found the gameplay loop much more engaging. MetalCaveman
Got it for free on Epic Store so I don't have the DLC lol, but yeah I'll try to check those out at some point, also got TEW 2 for free on EGS lol, so that might be next for Spooky Month, depending on how long it takes me to go through the first one. toxicitizen
The two DLCs I mentioned have some fairly important story stuff in it. I would definitely recommend playing them before TEW 2.

Mister Jack
Batman Arkham Shadow is so good. It's the Batman VR game that I was expecting to get back when the original Batman VR came out but turned out to be a very short and disappointing experience. This one is a proper, fully realized game and the only reason I haven't already beaten it is because it is a surprisingly strenuous workout. I played it for three hours on release day, punching my way through many packs of goons and working up quite a sweat in the process. The next morning I was so sore that I had to take a break from the game to recover. If you own a Quest 3 and have been both looking for a great game and wanting to exercise more, this will give you the best of both worlds. Mister Jack
I've been super into VR this year. Next to my PC it's easily my most played platform these days. I bought the Serious Sam VR bundle in the steam autumn sale because it was extremely cheap and boy, lemme tell ya, Serious Sam is a much better game in VR. It's definitely old, and you can tell it was originally made for Vive controllers without joysticks, but it works fine with modern VR controllers like the Oculus Touch so it's not really a problem after a few tweaks. More importantly, playing it this way ends up giving you several improvements, some of which might not have even been intentional. 1) You can dual wield any gun as soon as you pick it up. You can also use a different gun in each hand. It opens up some new strategies. 2) Since you can free aim in any direction crowds are much less tedious to deal with than in the flat version so you're not just hitting S on the keyboard while holding down M1 the whole time. You can also shoot enemy projectiles out of the air much more easily, especially if you're dual wielding a pistol or assault rifle in one hand specifically for that purpose while using your other hand to deal damage. 3) Enemy health is NOT adjusted to take dual wielding into account, so everything dies faster. It really doesn't make the game too easy because you still have dozens and dozens of them coming at you in every wave. It just means battles don't overstay their welcome anymore. 4) Since you can free aim that means you can sweep the flamethrower back and forth in front of you to make a giant fiery wall of death instead of just aiming it in a straight line. 5) The sniper rifle is used by actually looking through the scope, so you can maintain situational awareness around yourself while sniping rather than having a big black circle blinding your peripheral vision. 6) The revolvers and the shotgun can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger, so if you're quick these basic weapons become absolute death dealers. Not bad for 2.99
Thursday Next
Playing Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1&2 remastered. I'm loving the nostalgia, but lord knows how I played these in the past. They tell you nothing. Like trying to navigate to the next area is "X place is to the East of Nosgoth" like, cool. But there is no map other than a world map. Games used to be so hard man! I love the dialogue. Some amazing insults, love hearing some received pronunciation "Degenerate!" being thrown around.
