TheFlyingGerbil
Usually I'll only play one game at a time, but I can only play 3D dot heroes in bursts of an hour or so, so I loaded up Sly Raccoon HD. I quite like it but there are a few gameplay quirks that make it feel dated (yes, I know it is dated). I do like that the three games in the trilogy have a set of trophies each as I want to try and get up to 5 platinum trophies. This ones going well as you got a trophy just for loading the game! I keep hovering over Ico, but can't bring myself to load it. I think it's built up such a reputation in my mind I can't help feeling I'm going to be terribly let down by it. I think it's built up such a reputation in my mind I can't help feeling I'm going to be terribly let down by it. I felt the same way but I wasn't disappointed. It's a good game. Just don't expect it to blow you away and you'll enjoy it. I still need to beat Shadow of the Colossus, though. I beat it on PS2 years ago, but I kinda skipped it when I got the HD collection... In other news, I started Killer7 today. I'll probably have to restart the first level since there was no save point when I stopped playing but I loved the first couple of hours I spent with it. The best way to describe it would be "deliciously weird". Other than that, I think I'm going to buy God Hand off PSN. It's just one of those games I keep hearing about and can't help but feel bad about not having played it.

Strangelove
Holy crap, the cg cutscene at the start of AC Revelations was fantastic. Did Ac2 or Brotherhood have cg cutscenes? Outside of FF13, many games dont have them anymore.

P4: Gritty Reboot
I am playing Da Blob and trying to get back to Skyward Sword. Also some L4D2.
TheFlyingGerbil
Are you enjoying Da Blob? I keep meaning to get around to it. I'm playing Sly Cooper 2 at the moment. Not enjoying the bits where you play as Bentley and the hippo, but overall I'm enjoying the series so far.
P4: Gritty Reboot
I bought Blob for $10 on clearance and just barely opened it recently. I played through 3 or 4 levels yesterday and yeah, it's pretty enjoyable so far. It's pretty devoid of challenge at first but the difficulty ramps up nice and easy. It's got a good balance between objective-based and sandbox play that makes it feel pretty unique. Music is good too.
TheFlyingGerbil
Well, I forgot to put I played Sly 2 in here and have now completed it. I had another bash at 3D Dot Game Heroes but can't get in to it. I'm only on the second dungeon but I hope they're not all this badly designed I don't think it's at all clear where you're supposed to go. It's one of my biggest gaming disappointments. It does mean I've started Sly 3 now. I've only done the first level but it seems similar to the second game. I must be enjoyng them though as I've played them all in a row and haven't got sick of them yet. The only thing I will say is I hope that stupid owl isn't in this one. It's less confusing than say, The Legend of Zelda or Metroid in terms of where to go. I just got stuck in the fire temple. Damn game kept kicking my ass and I gave up. I should go back to it. I bought it Day 1 and never regretted it.
Strangelove
I'm playing the first Sly. I like it a lot. It has great visuals(cel shading transitions beautifully to HD), great voiceacting, and the controls are tight. But i just found it too repetitive. The gameplay is simple and after each level you get a new skill, but its nothing cool or anything, its just another way to use different platforming types like sliding and landing on narrow paths. Oh well. Im at Mz Ruby, so im halfway done. Has anyone played Sly 2? Is it better?

It's pretty similar to be honest, but you get to play as murray and bentley which adds a bit of variety but there are not really any new things to do in it. I'd probably play a different game in between if you're already getting bored of the first. Well, I forgot to put I played Sly 2 in here and have now completed it. deanb
I'm currently playing Brutal Legend. The design and all is pretty nifty, Schafer really knows how to helm a ship and have a unified "vision". Aesthetics only go so far though, and the gameplay kinda sucks donkey balls. The RTS elements aren't terribad, but they're certainly stupidly clunky and hard to order your guys about, you essentially end up having to get as many guys as you can and just throwing them at pillars until you win the fight at the end. The Stage Battles aren't hard, they're just annoying awkward. It'd be much better to just change the game over completely and have a top down view instead of controlling all your units via the Jack Black avatar. Oh yeah it's also a tease. The game has no jump. But in Stage Battle you can fucking fly. It's open world, to get around you need your car. To get your car you need to summon it. Initiating a guitar hero mini-game each n every fucking time. You can also upgrade your car, and your weapons and moves, by visiting Ozzy and spending Tribute points. To get tribute points you do the main missions (don't get you much) or do the highly repetitive side missions (There's only a handful of types: race, simple fight, turret shooting and mortaring. Maybe others I've yet to unlock) or find collectibles around the map. Fun fun fun. Oh there's also these ranged enemies, but you only have at best a vaguely mid-range attack unless you're in the car, so they can shoot you and you can't shoot back. They lead to most of my deaths. Apart from the times I end up stuck on terrain (did I mention there's no jump in this action game?) I'm gonna see how far I go tonight, then tomorrow I'll be dumping it back in the post to LoveFilm.

TCP
I've been playing the first God of War, since my girlfriend got me all three for me on my birthday..... two years ago.... Honestly, I'm not overly impressed. I'll walk into an area, spend a few minutes clearing out bad guys, and when I'm ready to move on, tough luck, there's another wave (or two of three) of enemies just like the ones I just bought. For some reason I don't mind this in Uncharted, but in God of War, it's just kind of mind numbing.

toxicitizen
So I've finally started playing Dragon Age II the past few days. About 6-7 hours in so far. It's... actually a fun game, in its own right. But once you realize that it's the sequel to one of the best RPGs I've ever played, then yeah... It starts to feel like a piece of shit. At least I knew what I was getting into so my expectations were quite low and I'm able to actually enjoy it. But whenever I pause the action to issue specific orders and realize that it really makes no difference because the combat has been dumbed down so much... it gives me a sad In Origins, I remember having to pause and micro-manage each characters' actions and positions to a point where it might as well have been turn-based. I fucking loved how every other hour I'd run into a fight where the game would basically tell me "hey, get smarter about this or get raped!". Oh and in those 6 hours I've visited the same cave about 5 times so far. Well, not the same cave, but their insides were all identical. So fucking lazy lol
TCP
I flipping hated it in Uncharted. On further thought, there was a couple times in each Uncharted games where it bugged me... specifically, the Shipyard and the Ballroom in UC3. One of the early jungle stages, I think it's where they introduce grenades in UC2 had wave after wave. But honestly, EVERY area is like that in GoW so far. Also The Witcher 2 and Skyrim plus tons of Lego Clone Wars with my son. I thought the AVWW beta was interesting but not very gripping. Plenty of stuff to do but I felt like I didn't have enough reason to do it. Care to give some quick early thoughts? Anyways I'm playing through Botanicula and it's great. Also playing Red Faction: Guerilla which isn't so great.

Also playing Red Faction: Guerilla which isn't so great. (Very) early thoughts are that it suffers from what a lot of these procedurally generated games do: it lacks the design and direction of games that are purposefully crafted. It manages to alleviate some of that with a semi-designed difficulty curve and certain "landmarks" that are likely the same with each playthrough. Also, the entire package, from physics to visuals, is a little off-putting. Again, very early so I can't say much. I'm probably going to hunker down on Grimrock before I return to AVWW. SomTervo
Wrote a post and it vanished... I'm replaying Max Payne 2 in preperation for Max Payne 3. My main reason, though, is so that I can see that damned alternate ending if you complete it on Dead On Arrival, which I didn't know about until recently (and it's one of my top 5 games of all time). Just playing it for the gameplay, it's surprisingly fresh stuff. Even on the 4th or 5th playthrough, and especially on harder difficulties. Really fun. Especially learning more and better Bullet Time techniques, I've pulled off some really sweet moves.

The original was incredibly fun to replay so I imagine this will be even better. I never saw that alternate ending myself and with Diablo 3 coming out a mere two weeks before Max Payne 3, I really don't think I'll be able to play it on normal and again on the harder difficulty. I'll probably just watch it on youtube or something, although honestly I don't really expect MP3 to build upon the existing story or use already existing characters.
