I've paused FF XIII as I was getting a bit bored of it and forgot I should have gone back to Sly Cooper 3 so I've started Assassin's Creed Revelations. I'm enjoying it so far (I'm on memory sequence 3 and have done one of the Desmond ones) but I didn't like the Den Defence. I hope there aren't any more mandatory ones and I'm keeping an eye on my notoriety making it quite annoying it jumps up by a quarter when you buy a shop so you have to keep finding heralds all the time if you want to go on a renovating spree :/

I'm finding the Templar Dens with the cowards a lot harder than the other games too as they run off before I've even seen them. I did forget you're supposed to use your eagle vision to find them though so hopefully that makes it a bit easier!

Overall, it's pretty similar to the other games, with, I think slightly better graphics and I prefer the city as it feels less claustrophobic than previous ones. I'm not not suffered burnout on the series yet which I think some other people where, though I am hoping ACIII will be a bit fresher.

I've not really been playing anything but I started going through Gears of War 3 with a couple of friends, when they're free, since I'd not done it co-op yet.

Lambent enemies are such a pain in the arse to fight and the game starts with them as well. Gunkers are annoying as hell, Drudges take forever to die and grow arms when you think they should be dead (and one variation leaves a fire-breathing snake thing after it dies), all the enemies explode upon death, and you always have to look out for the pods on stalks and make sure you destroy them as early as possible.

I mean, I know my friends probably weren't quite up to playing on hard, but just those design decisions alone really ruin the experience regardless. Though I guess they do make you hate the Lambent...

There aren't any more mandatory ones, and once you get assassin recruits trained up to Master level you can place them in command of a den and they will prevent that den from coming under attack, so once you have Masters in all your dens you're safe from that game for good.

I'm starting to rethink my adoration of Silent Hill Downpour... I only ran into 3 different types of monsters (Well, 4 technically due to the male/female versions of pretty much the same thing...)The wheelchair returned, but it's just... OH LOOK, HERE'S THE WHEELCHAIR AND IT'S IN A WEIRD SPOT THAT A WHEELCHAIR WOULDN'T BE. OooOooOOo... SPOOKY.

No major characters other than the female cop that shows up a couple times... And the side characters that only appear for one scene or so there's really nothing special about any of them, and none of them really left a major impact. And SO... MANY... SIDE QUESTS.... Really, I think the side quests are more difficult and intriguing than the main story itself, and even then they're really nothing spectacular or freaky. It's starting to feel less like Silent Hill and more of a paranormal drama... The game is still enjoyable, but I'm starting to miss the grotesque hellish parts of this series. They did have a few changes I enjoyed... I like the idea of having options to make good or bad decisions. Reminded me a bit of Shattered Memories. Well... if I want my spooky, creepy, hellbent monster gaming back I'll look into picking up the Resident Evil series once I'm finished up with this one.

Playing MGS HD Vita. MGS2 specifically. Its not exactly like the console HD versions, which is kind of a bummer. MGS2 fluctuates between 30 and 60 fps compared to the PS2 and PS3's version which is always 60fps. It not native resolution either.

That being said, its still looks and plays great. Just not as great as the consoles.

Lego games are perfect for the kids. You never lose and come right back when you die. No violence since they're just toys, relatively simple mechanics but fun to try to get all the unlocks and secrets for the adults. My 4 year old has logged almost 60 hours on Lego Star Wars III. Come to think of it maybe that's not healthy...

I got my girlfriend Lego Harry Potter for Christmas. She's basically a 4 year old when it comes to gaming, so it was great finding a game she could actually play. Except she couldn't play it on PS3 with the DS3 "the stick things are too hard" she said, but she managed pretty good on the DS.

LEGO Indiana Jones, I found the most frustrating. Simply because it has loads of guns and rocket launchers, making fighting unenjoyable (and frequent). Star Wars could be a little annoying in that regard if you weren't a Jedi.

At least in Batman you could hold down the batarang button, which I believe makes you invulvnerable while aiming, and then target the goons shooting at you.

I loved that game . There's a few of us here that like it, so you're in a safe place admitting that particular love that dare not speak it's name. In fact, I secretly hope the game Retro are working on is Starfox Adventures 2 - it would satisfy my Zelda craving as I doubt the genuine thing will make an appearance any time soon.

I've been playing nothing but JRPG lately... I'm grinding my way through Earthbound, and I'm exploring my way through Xenoblade. There's a reason I used different verbs there - the experiences are very different. In both games I've gotten over the initial hump and am pretty well into the groove. In Earthbound, it's the standard Dragon Quest groove. Go to city, upgrade gear, solve it's problems by beating the boss at the end of a dungeon, move on to the next town. In Xenoblade, I've finally figured out how 90% of the game systems work (by level 40) and am taking some time off to sidequest a bit. But I'm hooked. Extremely hooked.

Playing my first MGS game, Snake Eater. Some of the game mechanics haven't aged too well, but that hasn't stopped it from being ridiculously awesome.

Still trying to figure out why not all the Russians have Russian accents.

I'll play Peace Walker next, then MGS2.

Playing Valkyria Chronicles, it takes a while to give you full command a bit. And there's an awful lot of cutscenes, they look pretty so I don't mind too much. Oh apart from having to manually advance the "episodes" every couple of minutes, but at least it makes saving painless. Personally I'd prefer a long continuous cutscene until a battle, give a chance to then save, level up, grind, etc, then move on to the battle when you're ready.

Some units feel a bit useless which is annoying. Also isn't there meant to be an element of fantasy or does that come in later?
