Faiblesse Des Sens
Currently switching between: STALKER Dark Soul's PC Hotline Miami A good balance. A FPS, an action-RPG I'm already familiar with, and a game I can hop on for 20-30 minutes and hop back out.
Little Pirate
Went to my best friend's after work for game night, and while browsing through her Wii collection I came across Mad World. This game was a blast for me. Not only was the main character voiced by Steve Blum (Spike Spiegel of Cowboy Bebop just in case you're not sure) but I loved the comic-style visuals of this game. And I guess I'm always down for good old fashioned blood-and-guts violence. We played this until our eyes hurt and we had to finally tap out and call game night a success. Hot Heart
I've been trying to play a bit more Halo 4 recently, despite the matchmaking being really erratic with skill levels AND DESPITE NO ONE ELSE HERE PLAYING, TOO. Unlike Reach, it seems like it's worth sticking with and learning the game a bit more. Though, I've often found myself with an OK K/D ratio but not faring so well in the points. It's a tricky dynamic since it's usually my teammates giving away lots of points...but scoring more than me. Some maps I do really well on, and others I'm pretty much useless. Plus, I've got the season pass and a live subscription so I might as well be playing...
Mal
Add Spec Ops: The Line to my list. So far its a pretty typical third person shooter but with some environmental tweaks like shooting glass to throw sand in to bury enemies. One thing I noticed is that ammo for good weapon are scarce but weapons in general are not. I can imagine this being quite hard in high difficulties. Story wise, its doing something different which I like. For example, there is one part that is really subtle... During the part after the CIA agent is killed and the civies are getting execute. I SWEAR I heard Cantonese in the lines of "Conrad was pose to save us!". It added a whole other layer to that part. This isn't just a camp of natives... its everybody who came to visit Dubai before shit hit the fan. It really adds to the atmosphere to the game which I has to say is quite good. CorgiShinobi
Been playing Dragon's Dogma...really enjoying it! Good on ya, just don't expect the New Game+ to be any true fun since enemies don't level with you. Some time in the future we'll be getting that Dark Arisen DLC! toxicitizen
Well, my last final of the semester was yesterday morning so now I get a whole 10 days of true vacation (had a shitload of work to do over the holidays so it really wasn't time off ). So, I'm going to try and make the most of this week and a half. First, I've been playing Rayman Origins. It's not my main focus, I just play an hour or so a day but no more. Fun game. Next, I started a new XCOM game. After a 2 months break, I felt I'd probably be too rusty to jump straight back into my ironman classic game so I just started a new one on normal (still ironman, though). That way I at least get to try out a bunch of the new Second Wave options as well as play the Slingshot missions. Finally, the big one. There's been a kind of resurgence of old-school/isometric CRPGs the past year. Baldur's Gate EE came out and the kickstarters for Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity were very successful And now there's even talk of a new Torment game. So this made me feel like it's time I finally get around to playing at least one of the classics. I picked Planescape: Torment. It's hard not to have high expectations considering it keeps being hailed as some kind of legendary RPG that supposedly has some of the best game writing ever. I'm only a few short hours into it so I'm still waiting for the plot to really get going but so far I'm enjoying the gameplay more than I expected for a game with such a dated UI. I really need to complete it before the next semester starts otherwise it's just going to sit unfinished until summer, so I'm prioritizing this one. So yeah, busy week. TheMightyEthan
Started this morning. I'm probably going to start a new game tomorrow without the tutorial, since now I've gotten the hang of it and I want to be able to do stuff like launch satellites sooner, etc.
TheFlyingGerbil
I'm finding New Super Mario Bros. U harder than I was expecting. I've only just made it to the second world. I've never struggled in the first world before and have usually built up a useful bank of lives.
CorgiShinobi
I could put this into the "Beaten" thread too, but I haven't finished Campaign on Hard. ANARCHY REIGNS!!! I'm going to see if I can get my Internet off of NAT Type 3 tomorrow because the only thing I haven't done is the real meat of the game: MULTIPLAYER! If I can't, well, I literally can not connect to anyone because I'm on such a strict connection.

deanb
I am playing very little at the moment, and it sucks as I want to rectify this at some point, but of late I've only had spare time come late at night and for some reason I'm getting much sleepier around midnight than I normally do. Also struggling to decide what to play. The whole first world problem of a full pantry and nothing to eat. I really want to beat something. Just most titles I have are RPGs. TheMightyEthan
I'm having that problem too. I'm having trouble finding games off my backlog that aren't going to take me six million hours to play through.
Saturnine Tenshi
Uh, some War of the Roses. Playstation All-Stars and Skyward Sword occasionally. I haven't really been in the mood to play anything lately. Even Mark of the Ninja—which was a fantastic game—hardly snagged my interest. Maybe you're aware of this already, but the guides on here are pretty handy. http://portforward.com/ I've tried a lot of guides, but the main issue is that I don't have a router and the ISP is a service running through the apartment complex. I talked with management today and they said others have asked with the same concerns and supposedly the Internet service is "too advanced" for 360s and PS3s to handle, so that's why they're NAT Type 3. I think that's a big pile of BS and that the service doesn't want people to be blowing up the service with multitudes playing online games. deanb
I remember the 3 months or so I was at these student apartments after first year and they had it all running through their own ISP. Expensive as shit, lucky if you got 1Mbs and no wi-fi or proper porting. Had to get an ethernet card for my PC and bridge to my PS3.
CorgiShinobi
I at least have Wi-Fi, but the "free" package requires that you register your devices meaning the security code is different for every device you use. But yeah, it's advertised at 10Mbs, but you're lucky if you can maintain 1Mbs. As far as gaming, I'm worried that once I get out of my contract in around four months, and I head back home (unless I find a career around that time), that the online multiplayer for Anarchy Reigns will be nearly dead. If anything it will definitely be less active.
deanb
I have being playing Syndicate via LoveFilm. I'm not a fan, but I want to persevere. At least get a decent time out of it on the rental before shipping it back off. I feel for the most part it's a bog standard FPS, with a "hacking" system built in which basically acts like a grenade in a normal game would (at least the current hacks do). Also to initiate the "hacks" you just hold down L2. I put the game down when I got to a boss that teleported around, had an auto-aiming gun (like Fifth Element style), immune to my "hacks" and thus only killable with bullets, of which he is seemingly immune to as well There's no indicators (in this full connected digital world..) of his health either so I don't even know if I'm dying when he's mid health, or if he's just pixels away from death. Basically it has the issue of assuming an FPS needs a boss.
Luftwaffles
I take it that's the wubwub boss battle you're talking about? I found that fucking hilarious. Also never beat it, so that's as far as I've gotten in that game.
deanb
Yeah that part. Didn't mind the wub-wub, took the mind of other things.
Luftwaffles
Me neither, I just found that whole sequence hilarious. Open door, guy kicks you, says something dumb like "The West Coast is ours", and backflips out of the frame as wubwubwubwub starts going in the background. Definitely one of the funnier scenes in a video game in recent memory for me.
