TCP
Finally given Dark Souls a try. It's not really as hard as I thought it would be, it just wants you to play the game a very specific way. It's about learning enemy patterns and understanding rules of the game. So far, very early in, I wouldn't say it's been unfair.
toxicitizen
If there's one thing you definitely cannot say about the Souls game, it's that they are unfair. As long as you're not careless and actually learn from your mistakes, you shouldn't have any problems. On a semi-related note, I've been playing Rogue Legacy and enjoying it a lot. I read an interview with the devs where they said their intention was to basically make a 2D version of Dark Souls. I think they mostly succeeded. It's actually making me want to get back into Dark Souls proper once I'm done with it. I barely scratched its surface when it came out on PS3. Mal
I'm going old school (Is it old school by now?) with Valkyrie Profile. Emulation isn't the best since there are just some odd slow downs though I think they were also there back on the PS. Really kind of jarring. I'm not entirely sure how long I can keep this up. Maybe I should play around with the emulator settings. And I have a leak?
Thursday Next
Picked up Frozen Synapse while it was on sale. Playing campaign at the moment. I tend to rush missions, don't press play nearly often enough and forget to move enemies when I'm planning. I would get torn apart online. Still enjoying it though.
Mr. GOH!
Borderlands 2. It's certainly better than Borderlands.

TCP
That's good to hear. I never really liked Borderlands. Are you playing solo?
Strangelove
I felt Borderlands 2 to be A LOT better than Borderlands. I cant quite pin it down on why, theyre ridiculously similar. Its almost a cut and paste job. Only difference is it seems to have more story and dialogue. Kept me interested enough I guess.
Eleven
The PoP Shadow and the Flame iOS game is pretty cool. Unlike the first game where it's basically a 3D recreation of the original game, this one follows the same story (narrated by the prince, in text, a la Sands of Time trilogy) but the level layouts are different. Though you'll see familiar traps from the 2nd PoP game, and I can't remember the layouts well but I believe they should be the same basic setting (rooftop, cave, some abandoned castle later on. I'm excited to see the pegasus jump and how they'll recreate that. I found that awesome in the original game). Most people complain about the controls. But I actually found the swipe gesture control rather fun and better than the joystick mode they have. It's clunky, like the original game, but if you've played the first iOS 3D PoP remake, it's forgiving like that. Combat, while right now I'm still ok with, will probably get tiring later on as some of the reviews say. toxicitizen
Started playing King's Bounty: The Legend. It's one of those games I've had for a while and been really wanting to play but never did because it seems like such a huge time sink. Well, it is and I don't think I could possibly love it more. Only issue I have with it is the way "HP" works. Basically, you don't have any. You have troops that show up on the battlefield as a stack, so a single unit. And when some of them die, you have to hire more. Problem is the shops have finite quantities of them, so if you really suck or play too recklessly, you could end up screwing yourself and having to start over. So, it really makes you want to avoid any fights that might be too difficult or evenly matched.
Mr. GOH!
Playing BL2 solo, because I don't get along with people. I feel that the BL2 environments are more interesting and that the enemy variety is much better. But, yes; it's still Borderlands, and if you disliked the core concept of BL1, BL2 isn't for you. CorgiShinobi
Playing Remember Me on my new desktop. Right now I'm still typing on my laptop because I can't comfortably browse online with the setup of my room. 1080p on a 22" TV is awesome, but text and everything else is super tiny. I refuse to change the resolution though because damn if I'm going back to something close to 1366 x 768. Anyway, while Remember Me still looks like a sweet game, it does in fact play average. It's not the worst thing, but other games do melee combat much better. You get to stare at a nice butt, but it's almost ironic how limp Nilin (the protagonist) controls when not in her acrobatic fighting mode. TheMightyEthan
You can change the DPI in your web browser without changing the resolution on the desktop. That's what I did on my HTPC, I have it set to like 175%.
Mr. GOH!
I played Remember Me to the first substantial memory manipulation. I had been drinking whiskey while playing and was, by that point, too drunk to understand how memory manipulation is supposed to work. So I got fed up, and rage quit. Not sure when I'll get back to it.
CorgiShinobi
You can change the DPI in your web browser without changing the resolution on the desktop. That's what I did on my HTPC, I have it set to like 175%. I guess I could change the text size for regular use too, not just my web browser. Either way, I'm using my TV as the monitor, and the physical setup isn't ideal for common use. Now I'm wondering if I can use my headphones in conjunction with my HDMI connection. For my PS3, I run the audio through the component audio cables. I can hear the System sounds with some fiddling, but starting up a game and I can't hear anything. It would help if my TV had an audio jack, hence why I use audio cables for my headphones for PS3 use. Faiblesse Des Sens
Why not plug the headphones into your computer instead of the TV? Anyways, I started up Dishonored. Doing a no-kill playthrough which honestly is pretty fucking easy in this game. I think I might switch to just doing a kill everyone stealthily rampage play through. Fuck the "good" ending I'll just watch it on YT. So far I do really like how it combines the best of a lot of other games and unlike Assassin's Creed after AC1 you actually feel like an assassin! toxicitizen
Dishonored is one of those games where halfway through I really started regretting not playing on the hardest difficulty.
CorgiShinobi
Why not plug the headphones into your computer instead of the TV? I did that first, but I can't hear a thing once I'm in Steam or a game. Probably because my headset uses a USB and 3.5mm audio cable together, the USB is throwing off my computer. Like, I do hear all the system sounds and audio test, but it stops once I do anything else. I guess one way of fixing this would be to get a 3.5mm extension cable as I'm sure the cable alone can work without the original headset cable. If anything, I'll get my friend to come over and see if he can figure anything out too. Having audio from the TV is fine, just I've grown to prefer my headphones. I've been able to hear things lost to television stereo speakers.
TheMightyEthan
Your TV doesn't even have composite audio out? You should be able to get a composite-to-3.5mm adapter pretty cheap.
CorgiShinobi
I have an adapter where the audio cables plug in and it splits the audio to left, right, and to a 3.5mm. My TV doesn't have any output, its one shortcoming. Still, if the original cable isn't plugged into USB, the audio won't work. This is hard to explain, and I can only think of one person who use to post here that knows what I'm talking about since he has/had the same headset. Maybe I could find the instruction booklet and see if there's anything different I need to do when plugging them into PC, though I'm sure it's most likely something with my machine

I'm playing on whatever the one above normal is. Based on the AI and my powers it still would be easy.

So you need USB for power but audio can come from a different source? Also in-game you might need to switch to the proper device or try defaulting it. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, my headset is USB powered, but that USB cable doesn't have to be plugged into the same device that the audio is coming from.
BrainHurtBoy...2
Playing a lot of Shin Megami Tensei IV, but tomorrow I'll pick up Tales of Xillia and, at long last, Crusader Kings II. I'm considering grabbing Fire Emblem, as well, but am worried it might be too much to properly ration.
