TheMightyEthan
I've been trying to play Saints Row 4, but I just can't get into it. The world has no personality. It really feels like DLC (which I know is how it started out).
Strangelove
Wind Waker might be the first and only 3D Zelda game I enjoy. The others have been pretty big disappointments.
TheMightyEthan
Rented Beyond: Two Souls. I'm enjoying it so far, but unlike Heavy Rain I don't feel like my actions have any consequences.
Mal
Shadowrealm level shit. For you Ethan for a certain parts near the end whenever. Finish the game and see. Watching a stream of this game is quite something. Edited October 12, 2013 by MaliciousH
toxicitizen
Started playing DmC last night and I'm loving it so far. It probably helps that, while I loved the shit out of the old games, I wasn't overly attached to the lore ( or maybe it's been so long that I just don't give a shit anymore). Either way, I don't really mind this new take on the story and characters. I also think that this one is a lot better at telling its story than the previous ones were. I mean, I loved Dante as much as the next guy, but the narrative in previous DMC games was always kind of awkward and all over the place. I feel like the combat is kind of on the easy side, though. I'm playing on Nephilim (the equivalent of hard, I think? It's the highest available difficulty that doesn't need to be unlocked), and so far the only bit that really gave me trouble was one of those secret challenge room things. Faiblesse Des Sens
I beat the Wolf Among Us first episode. Wait should I put this into the "games you've beat in 2013" thread for each episode!? Anyways, good, but not amazing. A lot of world building and they nailed down a lot of the less fantastical elements greatly which makes the fantasy ones work well as they're not shoved in your face. For those that have not read Fables: When you meet characters it gives you a bio on them in the menus so you can learn who they are and their story. I think one major difference is that the stakes simply aren't as high. TWD was about survival. It was about horrid shit. This isn't about survival. It's a murder mystery. In that sense it's a very different game. It basically controls the same though I swear you have less time to do everything in this. It looks much better. The graphical style I think is great and there was no reason TWD couldn't have looked like this. It won't win any awards I just felt like visually TWD was sub-par while this is where a game like this needs to be.
Thursday Next
Rented Beyond: Two Souls. I'm enjoying it so far, but unlike Heavy Rain I don't feel like my actions have any consequences. Feels to me like my actions affect my character development more than directly affecting the story. But I'll see when I play through again. Personally, I'm loving it at the moment. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I was only a couple hours in when I posted that. Having finished the game now I would agree with you.
deanb
Might and Magic Clash of Heroes on my phone. It's a bit temperamental, and could do with some pointers on how to navigate around. I had to end up on the web searching for tips after the first battle as there was no indication of how to move around in the overworld. (You move by tapping on these pads around the overworld, but the one to head back to camp was now off the screen. Turns out you're meant to swipe down at that point to move). In battle, despite having a sizeable phone and it's meant to work on iPhone too, it can be a bit of a pain when it takes your unit movement taps as a unit deletion tap. Both taking up a turn and removing a unit from play (and Elite units are permanently killed when that happens). The strategy elements are nice, though two mechanics, Walls and Fusion, are incompatible with each other due to the field size which is a bit of a bummer. Kinda nice that it ties in with uPlay as it meant I could spend my points from other games on a few in-game items (though yet to get to wherever it is you unlock them in-game). I kinda wish more services acted like that. Visuals are pretty crisp too, except for the field units being a bit pixely.
NeoStarr
Pacman Championship DX+. Amazing game. My favourite thing about it is that you're ranked based on your position on the leaderboards. I got it on release, unlocked every achievement and aced every level on the first day, so I didn't end up playing it much. Went back last night and found my rank on most levels had dropped to a B. This shit is unacceptable and I will have my revenge.
Mister Jack
Shin Megami Tensei IV. Holy shit is it hard. I'll either have to lower the difficulty (would prefer not to) or spend a ton of time grinding (REALLY don't want to).
CrowKnow
Stalker. Really enjoyed the first hour or so but the game seems to be getting increasingly buggy. Just finished a stealth mission in a military base. Enemy soldiers seem to be able to detect you no matter how far away the line of site is. I've had the alarm go off repeatedly while I'm crouched in a small windowless room. The alarm occasionally stayed on when reloading quicksaves. I eventually gave up and shot my way through, which turned out to be fairly easy cause about 7 soldiers got stuck on a door. After finally finishing that mission I noticed a quest I already completed was still active for some reason. One of the important npcs in the game was walking back into the warehouse full of soldiers I originally saved him from resulting in "Task Failed X has died" before I could get back to him. So I'll probably have to redo those 2~3 hours.
deanb
Have you got the Stalker Complete mod? I've only ever played with that just cos I hear without it's quite a bit of a pain.
NeoStarr
I generally despise gameplay mods; especially on a first playthrough, but Stalker Complete is actually incredible. I personally didn't encounter too many bugs when I was playing vanilla, but Complete really took everything up to 11 so seamlessly that I would never play again without it. It almost feels like you're playing the same game on a better computer.
CrowKnow
Currently running the Zone Reclamation Project mod and the Shaders max mod. Didn't plan on getting the Stalker Complete because I heard some people thought it changed too much. Will probably give it a go next time I decide to play. Faiblesse Des Sens
Didn't plan on getting the Stalker Complete because I heard some people thought it changed too much. Really? Every person I've seen talk about points out that every change is positive and recommended it even for a first time playthrough.
toxicitizen
Replaying Arkham Asylum both in anticipation of Arkham Origins and because the removal of GFWL/addition of Steam achievements is a good enough excuse for me to do so. The gameplay is obviously a bit rougher than I remembered but I still think it's more focused and well-paced than Arkham City. This series has probably been the games I've replayed the most this gen. This is at least my fourth time replaying AA at this point and I'm just not getting sick of it. I'll probably take a break from it to play Gone Home tonight, though. Also kinda tempted to fire up DX:HR Director's Cut just because why the fuck not.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I'm still playing GTA5 single player. I'm at like 45%. Anyone else going this slow?
madbassman39
I'm running roughly that slow. Maybe a little faster at 60%. Partially I suffer from Open World ADD and just fuck around, the other part is I didn't want the game to end, and then I felt like the story hit a rough spot and I'm less inclined to continue to push through. I also just go online sometimes and not worry about the story.

toxicitizen
So I'm a couple of hours into Arkham Origins. So far, it's pretty much more of the same. It plays and feels exactly like Arkham City. It looks a lot better, though. I think it's the lighting. It gives the game a more vibrant look somehow. It's too early to comment on the story or side-quests (although if you were disappointed by the seeming lack of Riddler challenges, well, they're replaced by something... quite similar). So far, I'm enjoying it but something feels slightly off. Can't quite put my finger on what it is yet. Other than that, the PC version runs well enough. I'm getting occasional framerate dips but that was also the case with Arkham City so I'm not too surprised there. The biggest performance issue I have, and this confuses the hell out of me, is with the pre-rendered cutscenes, of all fucking things. This game seems to have quite a bit of those and, while they look pretty cool, they just struggle to stay above 10fps. So they're choppy as hell and it causes the audio to go out of sync. I kinda feel like that might be a problem with the game itself because, seriously, how the hell could my rig possibly be able to handle the gameplay but not fucking pre-rendered cutscenes? Oh and you can finally adjust the graphical settings from within the game! Edited October 25, 2013 by FLD

P4: Gritty Reboot
Been playing Battlefield 3's campaign. It's pretty cheeseball but has its moments. I want to play some of the online multi when I'm done, but I'll probably never beat it realistically speaking.
TCP
So, FLD, is the open world reusing anything from Arkham City or is it an entirely new area?
toxicitizen
So, FLD, is the open world reusing anything from Arkham City or is it an entirely new area? It's two islands linked by a bridge and one of them is the area that becomes Arkham City. So it's half reused (with some slight changes) but the new island is the smaller or the two.
