Saturnine Tenshi
Started Fire Emblem: Awakening. About 3 hours in. The wallflower tank died because I didn't know he was super weak to hammers. I didn't know there were hammers at all. Playing on classic, so he's gone forever. CorgiShinobi
Began Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, and I'm kinda thinking I should have got it on PS3 this past summer. I finally resolved the Games for Windows Live issue, though I've only made a local profile as I don't intend on having a LIVE account anytime soon. I know a little about "DSfix," but the whole damn interface is a jumble of controller and keyboard inputs. Played 20 minutes, will probably start over because I practically wasted my Gift when learning the controls. At least the sequel is promised to be properly developed for, if not ported correctly. I mean, once I get my fill, GFWL is uninstalled! Edited December 29, 2013 by Atomsk88
Chronixal
Currently alternating between Tearaway and DmC, the latter of which has reinforced the notion, to me at least, that you should put up or shut before before casting aspersions. So far it's damn good, if a little on the easy side.
TheMightyEthan
Trying to play New Super Luigi U, but goddamn did they ruin the controls. I knew the levels were designed to be harder, but I didn't expect them to make Luigi move like every floor was made of ice. The appealing thing about Mario games is their great controls, why would they destroy that? I'm actually quite upset about this, cause it was a Christmas gift from my wife and I was really looking forward to playing it. But goddamn, it just controls so terribly. Saturnine Tenshi
That's how I felt about NSMB on DS.
TheMightyEthan
I've never played that one, but I did go back to try NSMBU to make sure I wasn't imagining it, and that one is definitely a lot more frictiony on the ground. NSLU just makes it so you have no precision in your movements, which makes a precision platforming game a chore rather than fun like NSMBU. If you're not already doing so, I strongly recommend playing on Nephilim difficulty. Still piss easy most of the time but at least there's the occasional challenging fight or boss. Chronixal
Thinking I'm playing in what is normal mode but I have a feeling I'll be playing it through again tho so I'll try then. Another great pick for psn+
danielpholt
Cook, Serve, Delicious. Picked it up during the Steam sale and its been a total surprise to me. I believe I heard it mentioned on GiantBomb at some point, but that aside I'd never heard of it. I've put a little over two hours in so far, and I'm very much enjoying it, and I'm considering picking up the iPad version.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Mass Effect 3. It starts off pretty weak with one of the least convincing major setpieces ever but then seems to work back into the usual Mass Effect flow shortly after and I'm enjoying it. I wish I had money for the Leviathan and the Citadel DLC.
TheMightyEthan
I would say it's easily the best of the series except for the last 5 minutes. With Director's Cut they fixed almost all of my complaints with the ending, but overall I still have to go with the first one as my favorite. Baconrath
Despite my modest steam backlog I always seem to default back to TF2. And instead of actually trying to get better at it I've mostly been using the joke weapons like the mittens for the heavy or the newly buffed Short Circuit that completely shuts down any spammy demoman or soldier until you run out of metal and/or they kill you with melee. TheMightyEthan
Started Splinter Cell: Blacklist today. I really like what they've done with the gameplay. It's too bad the side missions don't have any checkpoints so if you screw up you have to restart the whole thing.
toxicitizen
It's too bad the side missions don't have any checkpoints so if you screw up you have to restart the whole thing. That annoyed me as well at first. I was playing on realistic, too, and combined with my obsession to perfectly ghost, I restarted the first few a LOT. But after a while you start getting a feel for them and they mostly take place on really small maps, so I didn't think it was that big of a deal, ultimately. TheMightyEthan
I decided I'm going to wait until I get some better stealth gear before trying those side missions, so now I've played the first two main missions and goddamn I'm loving it. Seems odd that sneaking by enemies without taking them out or being detected counts toward your panther score instead of your ghost score though. Not a problem, just weird. toxicitizen
Wait, what? I don't remember that. It does seem weird. Were they completely unaware of your presence or were you on the run from them? As for me, with only a few days of vacation left, last night I was at a complete loss as to what I should play. I'm feeling a bit burned out on Persona 4 and I just reached a natural break point in the story so I didn't really feel like jumping back into it. I tried Gravity Rush and liked it but I just couldn't get into it for some reason. Then I ended up watching a video about Metroid and decided it was about time I finally played... Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. As much as I love metroidvania games, I've only ever played the first half of the genre's eponymous titles, Super Metroid. I've owned a digital copy of SotN on PSN for years and have been meaning to play it for the longest time but I never got around to it. I got a bit frustrated with it early on but now that I've leveled up some and got some decent gear, it's actually pretty damn awesome. Also, the sprites look gorgeous on the Vita's OLED screen. That voice acting and scrip, though. So hilarious terrible. Edited January 4, 2014 by FLD
TheMightyEthan
Wait, what? I don't remember that. It does seem weird. Were they completely unaware of your presence or were you on the run from them? Completely unaware. Since then I've been paying more attention, and during the mission when I sneak by then the bonus pips up with the ghost symbol, but in the post-mission breakdown it assigns the points to panther. TheMightyEthan
Ah, no, I figured it out. They never saw me, but they were alerted by having found someone unconscious. If you really get through without them ever knowing you were there at all, THEN it counts toward ghost.
CorgiShinobi
Currently going through Metro 2033. Got it back when it was given out for free when you "Liked" Metro Last Light on Facebook. At the time I only had my laptop, but now I have my desktop that can handle it no problem. Only fix I had to do was for screen tearing, which can range from bad (during gameplay) to terrible (during in-game cutscenes).

Hot Heart
Started playing Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Liking it so far. Nice art style and simple but affecting gameplay. Though, I'm not too fond of having to hold the action buttons to stay climbing or moving along ledges. Feels annoying more than challenging, and I don't think holding a controller in that sort of position is ever comfortable.
TheMightyEthan
Holding the controller in what position? It's supposed to just be LT/RT for the action buttons, and the corresponding sticks for movement, so you shouldn't have to hold it in any special way. deanb
I started playing Blood Dragon, but after a laborious set-up (in which it turned out it never quit too, which wooh free cards) I got into playing it a bit and it was fun but the aesthetics of dark colours and neon lights matched way too much of SRIV that I'd already spent 20+hrs playing this week so I moved onto the colourful Amalur. I've just arrived at the village of "this elf is clearly hurting bad, but we'll just reference the woman feet away while asking you to do a quest". Man did it need a UX designer bad though, swapping out inventory, which you get frequently, is a pretty long-winded task. Not helped by all your equipment and weapons being put in one big list.

It's supposed to just be LT/RT for the action buttons, and the corresponding sticks for movement, so you shouldn't have to hold it in any special way. I mean, if you want both Brothers climbing and then moving along a ledge, you're having to hold those buttons/triggers nearly the whole time as well as directing the sticks. I've never had a problem actually doing them, just that when it's so often it gets tiresome, especially when the climbing areas and doing those little jumps from climb-to-ledge can be so finicky. TheMightyEthan
Ah, I thought you meant you were having to put your hands on the controller weirdly.
