IDDQD
Well, I still like DA2, for it has some redeeming qualities, but the game is spread way too thin to be entertaining all the way through. Not to mention the ongoing theme of nauseating repetition. Also, I still hate the combat system in Origins, though this time around I decided to be more advanced and used clever tactics. Such as: lure dudes away from larger mob. Or: "use the motherfucking mana potion when you're low on mana, Morrigan". Made things a little less annoying. TheMightyEthan
I liked DA2 okay, it wasn't near as bad as I expected based on the reaction, but it wasn't as good as DA:O.
Mal
Mob battles in Akiba is just retarded. There is no mob control in this game since anybody can counter you in the mob even if I'm not aiming for them. They can also block me from running away and absolutely gang rape me. Doesn't really matter if I have high resistance either. Sure I can counter them to hell and back but that is again retarded. If I try to land more than one attack I risk getting countered myself and then I get gang raped. There is also the thing of head counters not landing a hit on the person I'm countering against. Argh. toxicitizen
After a few restarts while I was still learning the core mechanics, I finally managed to get a city going in Cities: Skylines yesterday. Unfortunately for the citizens of Fucktown, their mayor was still quite inexperienced and ultimately abandoned them to drown in their own garbage. I can only assume that at this point they are living in the some kind of post-apocalyptic garbage wasteland where chaos reigns and only the strong survive. I can't say for sure, though. I'm not reloading that save. Now, Fuckburg on the other hand, is a thriving community that is growing steadily and shows no sign of stopping! it's profitable and so far hasn't encountered any kind of catastrophic problem. Let's hope for its citizens that things will stay that way because their mayor has absolutely no qualms about dropping them like a sack of bricks at the first sign of trouble. In other words, Cities: Skylines is fucking great! I don't know how long it'll manage to hold my interest but right now I'm completely hooked and other video games might as well not exist. I probably should've finished Dragonfall before digging into it, though. Think I'll try doing that tonight, actually.
IDDQD
I'm not actually playing it because after about an hour and a half I got bored of it, but yeah - Hatred. Another mediocre game that rides solely on its pre-release controversy. Putting aside the incredibly retarded premise and main character who's been listening to too much Slipknot and eating gravel with sulphuric acid for breakfast, the game is very mediocre. It runs like shit, gameplay is repetitive, graphics gray and boring, and controls are some of the worst I've seen in a top-down shooter. A pity, because the destruction physics are pretty neat and I wouldn't mind having a modern Postal clone. If only it wasn't taking itself so seriously, coming off as some kind of Goth Power Fantasy Simulator in the process. IDDQD
Got it cheap, thankfully. I can always imagine that some of the people I murder are the developers so that's something, I guess.
SomTervo
I'm seshing Batman: Arkham Knight, and whenever I'm bored/done with that I'll be moving onto cleaning up The Witcher 3. Also got the Tomb Raider Reboot Remaster, and that was pleasant. I've got a lot of backlog and I'm keen to get trucking with it before MGSV:TPP comes out. Off-topic: I also have a backlog of about 10 books half-finished, so I may take a bit of a gaming break just to get reading like hell. Got it cheap, thankfully. I can always imagine that some of the people I murder are the developers so that's something, I guess. You should make a mod enabling people to do just that. Would go down a storm. TheFlyingGerbil
Had a go on shadow of the colossus. Massive disappointment after ICO. Bought a new don't TV and after watching all the intro stuff tried to move and all I could do was swap weapons, pressed a few more buttons and turns out the controller was controlling the TV so started missing up smart apps etc. Didn't do that on puppeteer or in the OS. Only way I could get out to work was with the USB cable plugged into the ps3 so had to sit on the floor about 1m atom the screen so was not the best start. Playing the game was not much better even when it was working. The Camera control makes of borderline unplayable as it moves around far too much as soon as you let go of the stick it tries to sweep back to a janked up unhelpful position. Every time I want to get on the horse it takes about half a dozen random jumps before he decided to get on. Then when I finally got to the first colossus, spent about 5 or 10 minutes hanging on to the back of his leg and stabbing it with not a lot happening and had enough at that point. I'll have another go at some point but it seems like a strange step back from the first game in nearly every aspect. Plus I know I'm not going to like killing the colossus (if I actually can) as he was just wondering around minding his own business and even after I was attacking him didn't seem aggressive. TheMightyEthan
Had a go on shadow of the colossus. Massive disappointment after ICO. I just... I don't even... But yeah, feeling bad about killing the colossi is intentional.
Mal
I had a hour or two battle with that first colossus. While I didn't die much, that encounter consisted of me getting stomped and trashed because for a long while, I wasn't sure how to exactly climb it and kill it. Eventually it clicked after a drip feed of getting it to kneel, followed by getting onto it's back and finally getting on its fucking head. My god, that thrill of the kill followed by a huge smack down to Earth. Quite a big "WTF?" moment for me. Anyhow, the following colossi took far less time. Others were forgettable but there are a bunch that I still remember. I think the hardness for me was the lack of cues/hints you find in a lot of modern games but it eventually does click. The time it took for me to learn how to climb the colossus seemed appropriate for someone at my skill level who never climbed and killed one... I think a lot more people got it within the first 30 minutes. Edit: So yeah Gerbil... try again. I think you are letting really weird technical difficulties cloud your judgement. I'm kind of baffled by what is going on with your TV and why SotC is doing that. If I get some time, I'll look into it for you since the game deserves better presentation. TheFlyingGerbil
Yeah I'll definitely be going back to it, just after all the faffing around with the technical side I don't think I was in the mood at that point. I'll go in a nice open space and have a fiddle with the camera settings and the shitty mess that is the horse riding which had the camera bumping along the ground. Hopefully I haven't soured myself against it. Lucky last of the guardians looks like A carbon copy of ICO rather than sotc so can still look forward to that. TheMightyEthan
I guess now that I think about it when I first played SotC my friend who had already beat it was in the room and was able to tell me what to do for the first one.
Strangelove
Shadow Warrior. I just finished chapter 14. Lots of time spent just running away and healing over and over while chipping away damage on one of the terrible "bosses". I like this game, but its repetitive as hell now. Should have ended about 2 chapters ago.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Shadow Warrior. I just finished chapter 14. Lots of time spent just running away and healing over and over while chipping away damage on one of the terrible "bosses". I like this game, but its repetitive as hell now. Should have ended about 2 chapters ago. I only remember like 3-4 bosses and they give you so much time during their patterns that you can just heal while dodging whatever attack they're doing that you can't hurt them during. Sounds like it's time to change up your playstyle though.
TheFlyingGerbil
Had another crack at SoTC. Controller was working which was a good start. Also sorted the camera to an extent - I inverted both axes so it's easier for me to control, but still the automatic movement is awful. I guess I'm going to have to go through it a couple of colossus at a time with a break in between as I murdered/sacrificed the first three colossus before I got too frustrated with the controls and had to stop. I just spent too long hanging onto edges/not being able to jump up* or holding onto fur and not moving in the direction I want or even at all. So... I don't hate it but unless something changes in the game or something clicks with me it will definitely remain below ICO for me. *e.g hanging onto the side of the 3rd one's sword and not being able to climb onto the flat edge, and on the forth, which was when I gave up, grabbing onto the horses "pony tails" and only getting up one or two runs before I'd run out of stamina

Mr. GOH!
XCOM: Enemy Within. I bought it at release and played through a mission, but didn't get any deeper into it until this week. I've played about a dozen or so missions by now, and I'm enjoying it. I do think the expansion throws so many new options at you that there's no way to use all the new gear, upgrades, and units they packed in. I started playing both because XCOM 2 is coming up and to slow my Witcher 3 roll' I'm nearing the end of The Witcher 3 and kind of don't want it to end. :\
TheMightyEthan
I've picked Spacechem back up after FLD mentioned it, been going through trying to beat his scores before tackling the remaining planets.
toxicitizen
Honestly, it shouldn't be too difficult for most of them. I only worry about coming up with a working solution at first. Some of them would probably need to be redesigned from scratch if I wanted to make them anywhere near efficient. Especially the early ones, before I figured out some of the tricks you can use to save cycles. As for me, I've been getting back into Dustforce and SpaceChem lately but the past couple days I've been mostly glued to TIS-100. I've already solved about 80% of the main puzzle set. That game is so much goddamned fun, it's ridiculous. Especially considering that I don't always get that focused on my actual programming assignments... TheMightyEthan
Okay, I've passed the ones you've done, so you need to get back on that shit, it's more fun when I have someone I'm competing with.
toxicitizen
What do you mean? How far did you get? I've also been playing all this time, and I've reclaimed some of the top spots on earlier levels. Looking at the leaderboards now, it looks like I'm still 3 planets ahead of you. I'm currently stuck on the final level of the 7th one. I usually stop playing for a day or two whenever I reach a defense level. Those kinda suck... Also, I think the leaderboards might be kinda glitchy. Sometimes it takes a minute or so before any scores other than mine will show up. There's also a bunch of people that showed up on the first world right after you started playing again and I'm pretty sure they weren't there before. The thing is, none of them seem to have any recently logged playtime. So they must've been there all along, I guess. They just weren't showing up, for some reason. TheMightyEthan
Okay, I'm on the 4th planet, but you haven't been showing up on the boards since the third planet so I assumed I'd passed you. Weird.
