Games You've Bought

Placed some pre-orders:

- The Witcher II Premium Edition (probably the same as Dean got. There are only Premium or Collectors Editions available)

- LA Noire (for 360, obviously :P )

And that should give me some reward points to put towards inFamous 2 and Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon (presuming that has some alright reviews considering its cheaper price).

Obviously not. But if you've read the original post or a fair few other posts in here you'd know pre-orders can be included...............................................

I think there was a pre-orders thread but that didn't really receive much attention (I may be thinking of the Old Republic).

As for the other games, I mentioned them merely for discussion's sake.

@Ethan: Never had a problem with the sticks. They could be improved by making them (and the triggers) concave, but otherwise they don't cause me any problems. The alternative controller is great. Thanks. :P

Also, I can't stick shmups either. They just don't appeal no matter how many improbably large chested loli-mecha-spaceship-hostesses are in them.

The triggers have never given me any trouble, though I know that a lot of other people have problems with them. Making the sticks concave would fix my issue with them in most games (like in AC:B my thumb ends up "walking" off the edge of the stick), but for shooters there's more to it than that; I don't like how little resistance there is in the stick, which makes small, precise movements difficult, and also the deadzone in the middle is too big, which does the same. Those problems only matter for shooters though.

Two nights ago, I had a wonderful dream that I found a bunch of N64 cartridges for 50 cents each and picked up a bunch of rare and expensive games. So, hoping my dream was some sort of bizarre supernatural premonition, I headed to the thrift store after work. While they did have a copy of Wario's Woods for SNES, I don't yet have a Super Nintendo, so that was worthless to me. Rummaging through the clear plastic box in front of me, I beheld a glorious sight however: Pokemon Snap for $5. Light shone from the heavens (thrift store is getting roof work done) upon the dusty cart, and I slapped it down on the counter and whispered, "Hit me," a single tear making its way down the side of my face.

---

Just picked this up for $2 with free shipping on Amazon Prime. I'm sure I have another copy lying around somewhere, but this was easier.

Just ordered a new graphics card to be fitted to my PC: Asus ATI Radeon HD5750

Supposed to be very good for the price and it's apparently three 'tiers' above my previous, according to Tom's Hardware, who my friends claim is very reliable.

On the downside, it might be a couple of weeks before I get my PC back; so no Witcher II for me. LA Noire had better be good...

Rock Band 3 is so awesome.

Indeed!

Awesome! Check out Video Card Benchmark for a straightforward comparison, though it's not very detailed. I've got the 4870, so I'll probably be good for another year+ before I'll want to upgrade.

Hmm, interesting, thanks. Seems I'm jumping up 6 ranks according to that.

It's more necessity than just wanting a definitive upgrade though. Old card failed and I then left my PC with a guy who said he can't fix it, so I was running reasonably priced cards by him to find which would fit the thing (it's got some weird mobo and a smaller case) and that seemed the best for the money.

Hopefully my friend can fix the old card and I'll be able to get something for it, but I should 'only' be around £120 out of pocket otherwise.
