Little Pirate
Well, didn't technically buy it, but a friend whose XBOX broke gave me his copy of Lollipop Chainsaw. Ironically enough, I no longer have an XBOX, either, but once I get another one I plan to play it.

Waldorf and Statler
pffffffft nigga I got that shit fo' free! Am I ever gonna play it? Probably within the next 2 weeks I'll start.
FMW
I have pre-ordered and paid off two JRPGs. Mario and Luigi Dream Team was the first. That decision was an easy one, for the previous Mario and Luigi game was easily the best so far. That series is running hot. The second pre-order is Shin Megami Tensei IV. Again, this is because I totally dug the previous entry in the franchise (SMT Strange Journey). SMT Strange Journey was maybe not as objectively good game as M&L 3, but it appealed to me subjectively very specifically with it's nihilistic tone and morality system that I actually didn't hate. Strangelove
Felt like replaying it. There are a lot of sections of the game I hated, but I think its worth playing overall.
Faiblesse Des Sens
What sections did you hate? I'm guessing the genre bending stuff like the top down sections?
Waldorf and Statler
If you hated the first playthrough, wait until each iteration of new game plus where they make you feel like shit for killing the baddies
Faiblesse Des Sens
Oh man... that fucking wolf part. Fuck that on your second playthrough. I'm cutting an onion, I swear...
Saturnine Tenshi
I wasn't too fond of the isometric view dungeon myself, but I did like the text adventure.
Hot Heart
The only bit I recall moderately disliking was the temple with the 'challenge rooms' where it uses riddle-like names to tell you what things you can't do and resets if you use them.
Strangelove
Yeah, the text thing was beyond stupid. Not to mention having to go through every area in the game just on a regular playthrough. Talk about artificially extending a fucking game.
Saturnine Tenshi
I'm not sure what you mean by that middle bit, Strange.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I think it's the other way around. They didn't have the time or budget to actually have new areas for the story they wanted to tell. I loved the text part. I think it was one of the best things they tried. Strangelove
Yeah, it was definitely a budget issue. I personally would have preferred a 10-15 hour jrpg if i didnt have to go through recycled material. And the text idea was cute. I applaude it. It wasnt fun though. I applaud and champion the entire game for trying so much, still a lot of parts just arent...fun. Theyre a chore. But whatever.

toxicitizen
I really need to play this fucking game already. Getting a bit tired of losing at Civ V, so maybe I'll give it a shot next.
Waldorf and Statler
FLD obviously you need to play Civ V with me so then when I lose first you won't feel too bad about yourself. When people tell me they reached the 1000's+ AD I'm genuinely surprised.
toxicitizen
Hahaha, really? What difficulty are you playing on? Me, it's just that I started playing again after like a year and mistakenly picked Prince difficulty. Turns out I wasn't quite there yet but now I'd rather try and beat Prince than go back to Warlord. I'm on my fourth attempt over the past few days now. I don't have a problem lasting, I just end up giving up when it becomes clear that the A.I. is way too far ahead for me to be able to win. Last game, I gave up around 1960AD. That one stung a bit... Waldorf and Statler
I'm playing Prince. My problem is that I can hold my own with civilizations when we're making trades and generally just doing society shit, but once they start attacking. OH LAWDY LAWDY
toxicitizen
Oh, yeah, if you neglect building a military, you can get demolished pretty fast. Learned that the hard way. I have the game set to autosave every 5 turns, so when it happens I just go back a bit and prepare for the attack. Sometimes it makes the AI decides not to attack attack at all. Waldorf and Statler
I build a military. My problem is choosing the advanced military trees. As in go with metal work instead of choosing something else. Plus I can't go back a difficulty by principles alone or I'll be known as "the Wally formerly known as Prince" Edited May 20, 2013 by Waldorf And Statler
toxicitizen
Well that depends on how long you've been playing. If you just started playing and jumped straight to Prince and are really struggling, then yeah I'd recommend taking it down a notch. At least until you learn the game a bit. Maybe see if you can win on Warlord. Anyway, we should stop being off-topic too much or Dean's going to get mad and swing his mod-axe at the thread. TheMightyEthan
Play on an archipelago. Being on a series of islands does wonders to insulate you from attacks, especially since one of the things that pisses them off in the first place is sharing a border. Mister Jack
The thing that drives me nuts about Civ V, as much as I love it, is how I'm pretty much forced to conquer all my neighbors militarily and then when they're down to one city and I offer them mercy, they demand tribute in return. THEY DEMAND TRIBUTE IN EXCHANGE FOR ME ALLOWING THEM TO LIVE.
toxicitizen
Just finish them off, then. The weird thing is there are times where THEY attack me, then when I manage to hold off their attack (and I'm just holding them off, not pushing back), they end up offering me a SHITLOAD in exchange for peace. Never fails to make me laugh.
