Hot Heart
Grabbed Gunstar Heroes on Steam for 50p. Bargain! The Mega Drive collection has some good stuff but I have most of it in disc-version on PS3. It didn't have Gunstar Heroes though and I only ever had a ROM of that. TheMightyEthan
Has the quality of onlive improved since launch? When I tried it the picture was pretty muddy (even taking into account that it was only 720p) and there was too much latency on the inputs. deanb
Not yet had a chance to give it a full swing.
toxicitizen
Â Finally decided to get Alpha Protocol for 2$ before the deal ends. I tried it when it first came out and the lack of polish was kind of shocking. I don't think I even finished the tutorial. It just wasn't the game I'd hoped it would be. Â But since then I keep running into people online who claim the game is genuinely fun, so I got curious enough to give it another shot. And for 2 bucks, who the hell cares if I don't like it. At least now I'll have it for when I've nothing better to play and feel like trying it again. Edited September 26, 2011 by FLD
Hocking
I've just picked that up in the Steam sale as well, despite already owning it on the PS3. Word of advice though, invest in martial arts rather than guns. You get a far more enjoyable game-play experience out of using stealth and melee than you do out of trying to shoot things. The shooting mechanics are appalling. However, with a melee build, save Russia for your last area. Â Also picked up the Company of Heroes complete pack in the sale this weekend. I already own all three titles on disc, but I've not installed them since 2009 thanks to that atrocious Relic P2P patcher. I figure with Steam, I might at least play a game I genuinely enjoy the hell out of.
Hot Heart
Grabbed Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for PC because I saw it was down to £7.
TheMightyEthan
They patched out the always-on connection requirement, didn't they?
Hot Heart
Yeah, that's part of the reason why I went for it on PC. Not that I think it would affect me, though. Edited September 28, 2011 by Hot Heart
TheMightyEthan
My internet likes to cut out for about half a second every couple hours. Not usually too much of a problem, but I have a feeling it would drive me nuts with that kind of DRM.
Hot Heart
Yeah, while it might not be a problem for me (at the moment), I am particularly against that form of DRM.
toxicitizen
Just grabbed the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle. Quite the steal considering the game normally goes for 25 bucks! Â You also get the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle if you pay more than average, which I did.
CorgiShinobi
Resident Evil Code Veronica  I had PlayStation Plus months ago, and for the most part I don't mind not having it. The whole "free game" until you renew your subscription makes me feel like even if I get a game discounted, I don't fully have it.  That aside, I didn't feel like throwing down $60, so $20 for the game.... and some avatars? BrainHurtBoy...2
Frozen Synapse. Also, I know this is the wrong place, but I don't want to find the other thread. I bought a Das Keyboard Ultimate Silent. I'm so excited for it!
Strangelove
Im also playing Code Veronica. Its weird how much I like this game. That being said, I would have NEVER paid 20 dollars for this or RE4. Its too much for some very basic hd ports. Im glad I got them both for 10 each. I've never played Code Veronica though, and I don't plan on getting RE4 for a third time. 16 plays across GCN and Wii, with the Wii version still being my favorite. It's just a shame it doesn't look good on an HDTV. Trust me, I played it once on a 52" HDTV.
Strangelove
Wii version is awesome. It looked good to me though. But I have a smaller tv.
TheMightyEthan
Frozen Synapse + Humble FrozenByte Bundle. Â I didn't realize I would get all those games, I thought it would just be Frozen Synapse, now I feel guilty for giving so little...
deanb
Technically if you got all those games, then you gave more than most other people.
toxicitizen
Just grabbed Resident Evil 4 HD. It's downloading atm. Unfortunately, I have class in a couple of hours and probably won't be able to play it until tomorrow afternoon. But at least it'll be downloaded and installed. I can't wait to replay it, I haven't touched it since the original gamecube release, so I'm not sure how well it'll hold up. Plus, I keep hearing that Capcom were quite lazy in upgrading the visuals... I guess as long as it still feels superior to RE5, I'll be happy. Â I'm also debating grabbing ICO/SotC Collection on my way back from class tomorrow morning... I don't want to blow all my cash on games and I just bought RE4. And there's Dark Souls next week... Â But then again, it IS my birthday this month. So I think I'm entitled to some stupid spending Edited September 29, 2011 by FLD
Strangelove
Its the best version(Wii) of RE4 in HD with trophies/achievements. thats it. Nothing more, nothing less. I dont get why its lazy. Thats what they said theyd do and thats what they did.
Hot Heart
Everyone dismisses remakes as lazy when some sound like they actually take quite a bit of work.
Strangelove
Its not a remake, its a port. Theres a big difference. Â And there's nothing wrong with RE4. Its one of the best looking games of that generation. SoTC had awful FPS, so they fixed it. I GET that. It needed fixing. It actually fucked with the gameplay. GoW1 looked like absolute shit because it was an earlier game so they kinda used better textures for the HD port. Theres nothing they could have done to RE4 to make it look better than just doing everything over again and charging 60 dollars for it. But then it would be a remake. As for the gameplay, youre not supposed to change the gameplay. It kind of defeats the purpose and makes it something else entirely. I would have LOVED if they changed RE4's control scheme to be like RE5, or if it had Move support, or maybe something crazy like shooting and walking. But I didnt expect them to. Â It just needed HD so it would look nice on all of our tvs.
Hot Heart
Remake/port/HD version-whatever. There's still a fair bit of work involved beyond 'better textures', especially since, in a lot of cases, you're not working with the same hardware as before. I dont get why its lazy. Thats what they said theyd do and thats what they did. Actually, from what I've read it's the PS2 version that's ported. That's why there's some hubbub about the graphics; they didn't port the slightly better variation of RE4. Â Realistically of course we're talking about going from PS2 to PS3. Trying anything with GCN/Wii to PS3 would be a disaster.
