WTF
Got Sideway NY and Halo Anniversary as Birthday gifts. Of course Mario Kart was also a birthday gift. That about sums up the gaming related gifts but outside of that I got a lot of non-gaming related gifts. I'll be getting the Vita for cheaper thanks to some people I know working for Sony so that's definitely good news now. Buying House of the Dead Extended Overkill edition soon. Bought the new indie royale and got hamilton for free.
TheMightyEthan
@peteer: yep, that's the one. Sorry if I stole it from you, but in my defense it said there were still 5 left in stock after I bought it.
Battra92
Merry Christmas from my wife. She forgot she bought it and gave it to me late:

I'm hopeful it's back in stock before then. :-)
toxicitizen
Digital copy, straight from Blizzard's website. Had been thinking of getting StarCraft 2 but after spending so much during the Steam sale I decided to wait a bit. So I got this instead. I actually never finished it, if you can believe that. More accurately, I never played any of the Zerg or Protoss campaigns. In fact, the only one I ever touched is the first Terran one from the original and I don't think I ever finished it. TheMightyEthan
Didn't get that specific drive, but I did get a Western Digital 2TB HDD. It's on Newegg for $139 after a -$30 from a promotion code from their e-mail. Even if you don't receive their e-mail you can get to the promotions from a link on the checkout page. Kovach_
Let's see, i got Humble Bundle (Tenshi <3), Orcs Must Die, Mass Effect 2 (totes not late), Rock of Ages, Anomaly: Warzone Earth (which is quite interesting), Dungeon Defenders, Serious Sam 3 (Cyber <3), Deus Ex: HR (Maritan <3), Space Marine (Luftwaffles <3), and a bunch of DLC. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I would have continued to wait, but I've got a 500 GB drive that's on the verge of dying, could go at any second.
Cyber Rat
Let's see... Humble Indie Bundle 4 and Deus Ex: HR courtesy of Kyle; Total War Shogun 2 courtesy of an IRL friend; AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome; Sequence; The Witcher 1 courtesy of Maritan; and bought Space Marine for 9 euro on Greenman Gaming. In that case good luck and the IT guy side of me is compelled to tell you what I'm sure you already know and that is to have up to date backups. TheMightyEthan
Oh yeah, as soon as I noticed it was being flaky I copied everything on it to the 2 TB drive I already have (it's not what I consider "important" data so I don't keep it continually backed up), but that left me uncomfortably low on disc space to work with. Battra92
I picked up the Indie Royale New Year's bundle simply for Super Crossfire and paid just over the minimum at the time.
toxicitizen
I also picked up the Indie Royale but in my case it was mostly for Nuclear Dawn. Was curious about it after TotalBiscuit mentioned it in a few videos and the gameplay looks fun enough but I was hesitant to spend 5-10$ on it alone. Now I'm really glad I held off. Fractal also looks nice. Haven't looked up Super Crossfire yet, though.
TheFlyingGerbil
Finally got Kirby's Epic Yarn.
Battra92
Epic Yarn is great ... it's just really easy.
TheFlyingGerbil
that suits me fine! I just might be able to complete it
Battra92
that suits me fine! I just might be able to complete it Yeah you should have no issue. One thing, though. To get 100% you have to buy all the fabrics and stuff from the shop which is a bit annoying but hey, I wanted to see it say 100%.
toxicitizen
Been meaning to invest in a proper mouse mat for a while since my Deathadder gets all wonky when I put it straight on the desk and the shitty Dell one I'm using atm is, well... shitty. It's too small, ugly and keeps sliding and won't stay in place. Was over at my aunt's during the holidays and my cousin had this one and showed it to me. It's fairly large, which is nice. But more importantly: it sticks to whatever surface you put it on! No more pausing the game to readjust the mat! Now I just need to invest in a fancy keyboard and I'll have all the shiny gamer toys I need
peteer01
I learned 2 things: 1 is that I have terrible impulse control (kinda already knew that), 2 is that apparently G13 is a strain of marijuana. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126050 Back in stock. $5 off until 1/9, which makes it the cheapest place to buy it at the moment. So yeah, Ethan, I just ordered one. Let me know what you think when you get yours!
TheMightyEthan
Got mine yesterday afternoon, played about 7 hours of Skyrim with it, and I love it. I'm not really sure why people don't like the thumbstick, I mean it does act like an 8-directional pad but that's not the stick's fault it's the game's (since the game is expecting wasd input you have to map the stick to wasd which only allows 8 directions of movement). It takes a little getting used to that it's not true analog movement, but once you do it's fine. I love that using the thumbstick frees up 4 keys directly under my fingers for other functions. My only complaint is that the bottom row of 3 keys is pretty hard to reach, so I wouldn't map any panic buttons to those (I have mine as quick save, quick load, and toggle local map in Skyrim). Another bonus, that I didn't realize it would do when I ordered it, is that it will auto-detect most major games and automatically switch to your custom profile for them when you run the game. Nifty.
peteer01
Awesome. Totally looking forward to getting mine. Does the thumbstick feel like an analog thumb stick? Would it be possible to use it as an analog thumb stick in games that support analog thumbsticks when using a joystick? The 8 way input would definitely not be a huge problem, because as you said, if I'm using a mouse, that's all I've been able to use anyway, and now I've got additional useful buttons immediately available. TheMightyEthan
I'm not sure if it will work as an analog stick or not. I think so, but I haven't tried it with a game like that yet.
toxicitizen
Currently 6$ on Greenman Gaming. Deal ends in about 8 hours, though. I passed on it when it was about 7$ a week or so ago. I honestly have no idea what changed... I think that after spending about an hour tonight shopping around for earbuds and finding nothing, I just wanted to spend money on something. Probably also helps that today I found out I don't have a single book to buy this semester. That leaves me with quite a bit of extra cash this month Edited January 12, 2012 by FLD
deanb
Kerbal Space Program It goes up in price in a few days and it's not on it's final build for the demo. I've not played it since they added The Mun. I may make a video of sorts.
