TheMightyEthan
@FDS: Nope. No Asus cards that I can find support both Dolby Digital Live and optical audio in/out. I could get one that just does the Dolby Headphones, which would be fine for just PC sound, but I want to be able to run my console sound through the same setup so I don't have to constantly plug/unplug cables when I switch back and forth. The Creative card allows me to plug the optical audio from the console into the card's input and it will pass that audio through to the output, which runs to the headphones. Faiblesse Des Sens
Ah okay. @Cyber Rat: Tell us how it is. When I saw the video on RPS last week I thought it looked great.
Cyber Rat
It was 3AM when I bought it. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow for sure and post something.
Battra92
Because I want one that will cooperate with my surround sound headphones because it bothers me that my PC game sound is so much worse than my PS360 sound. Forgive my ignorance but how can headphones be surround sound? You only have two ears. Also, how can a jumprope be "Hi-Fi?"
TheMightyEthan
Your brain triangulates the position of sounds based on time delay between ears and other factors. Surround sound headphones model that and use it to trick your brain into thinking the sound is coming from somewhere in 3D space even though you've only got one speaker for each ear. They're basically like 3D glasses for your ears. Also, cancelled the original sound card and reordered the same one from Newegg (yesterday they were the same price on Amazon and Newegg but Amazon was giving free shipping, today the Newegg one went on sale by 35% and added free shipping, so...)
Yantelope V2
I finally swore off creative products. My MP3 player and headphones died and their customer service was awful. They wouldn't even talk to you if you are out of warranty without wanting money. Oh, and they don't service their own products, even if you're willing to pay. toxicitizen
Just came out on GOG yesterday. I've wanted to try it for a while since I've heard for years that it's this amazing classic, kinda like X-Com.

deanb
I liked it up until the part where you didn't die. Also it's £5 over here. Stupid £=$
P4: Gritty Reboot
Yeah I seem to recall a few of the deals over the holidays being converted across the pond better, but the straight dollah to pound is stupid.

Yantelope V2
I liked MOH okay. It was actually better than I thought it would be.
toxicitizen
I didn't think it was downright bad, but it was fairly unexceptional, imo. If I recall correctly, the tier 1 levels were also ridiculously easy. I mean, I like the idea of playing as a badass tier 1 operative that can kick all kinds of ass, but at least make it challenging otherwise it doesn't make for very satisfying gameplay. I had some fun with the MP beta, though. Edited January 21, 2012 by FLD
Little Pirate
Bought Alan Wake. Stopped around chapter 2. This almost seems like a Stephen King-ish game.

Luftwaffles
I actually liked MOH quite a bit. The story isn't so great, but I didn't think the gameplay was any worse than any other recent FPS. The multiplayer actually feels a lot better, though, enginewise. It actually feels a lot like team deathmatch in Battlefield 3, which kind of makes me laugh.

Yeah, it really shows that the multiplayer part was developed by DICE while the sp was done by uh.... some other guys... I could be wrong, but I think they also run on different engines, with the MP being on Frostbite. Anyway, didn't think to post it but I finally caved and bought this earlier this week. Won't be playing the campaign yet since I'm still playing through the original (almost done with the original Protoss campaign and then it's on to Brood War), but I played a few AI matches and will probably be giving the online a shot over the week-end. Hopefully the tiering system works and I'll be able to play against people who have a non-asian skill level. Also, I've been having such a blast with the original StarCraft that I decided to give a shot to the other Blizzard series I've somehow managed to ignore up until now. Only 10$ on the Blizzard store. Going to use it to decide whether or not I want to buy Diablo III. Would've started with the first one but for some reason they're not selling it on their website. But yeah, at this rate I should be buying WarCraft III any time now... Edited January 28, 2012 by FLD

toxicitizen
Brutal Legend's a great game. I fucking love the metal-themed world Double Fine created. The only reason it failed is because it was marketed by absolute fucking morons. The demo gave the impression of a standard linear third-person action game while it's actually more of a semi open-world affair. And then, it fucking turns into an RTS halfway through, but for some reason that is beyond me they figured nobody needed to know that prior to launch. So most people got to that part, went "wtf is this shit?!" and just tossed it aside. I bought it at launch and unfortunately never finished it Got stuck on one of the latter RTS sections (I think I was literally a single chapter away from finishing it), and then Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2 came out and I just never looked back. I've been meaning to get back to it for a long time now, but I can never bring myself to start it over... :/
