Strangelove
3 is much better in almost every way, but I still prefer KZ2 because of how dark and Nazi-ish it was. That and Visari and Radec. Brian Cox is amazing. KZ3 has tons more variation in it's locations, enemies, and weaponry. I can't say Ive ever played anything like it in the fps genre. Oh, and Rico is likable now. They changed that. It's a good thing. Edited July 12, 2012 by Strangelove
TheMightyEthan
I thought KZ2 took itself way too seriously. Like when whats-his-name died and Sev was losing his mind, it just made me laugh. Like I get that you'd be very upset in that situation, but the way they portrayed it was just cheesetastic and OTT. From a gameplay perspective though I thought it was really good, with the exception of a couple of parts that I've mentioned in other threads. Eleven
One of my favorites in my old PC gaming days when I was a kid was Eye of the Beholder 3. I missed the GoG sale that was $7.50 or something, I wanted to buy it then. I guess it turned out for the better, as now it's $6 on Steam. I'm gonna try out the hardcore no automap thing. I have memorized the maps when I was a kid on EoB3 (which trees to cut, which levers to pull etc.), but maybe I'm too lazy now to bother with that. We'll see. It's kinda exciting!

From a gameplay perspective though I thought it was really good, with the exception of a couple of parts that I've mentioned in other threads. You mean when Rico killed Visari?! Rico was that "guns blazing" type character that did more harm than good. Hey, they've got some of our men captive? I'll rush in yelling because I'm sure someone isn't going to die when I burst into the situation! Sev had a good reason to be pissed/freaked. Visari himself was anticipating his death because he knew full well how the people of Helghan would react. It basically went down like... Sev: Visari, you're going to pay for your war crimes. Visari: Why don't you kill me? C'mon, do it! Rico: BLAAAAAARGH MOTHERLICKER I HATE YOOOOOOUUU!!! *death* Me: ...I hate you so much Rico. Many a Killzone player had a vendetta for Rico and hopeful dreams of Rico's demise in the sequel. That's not implying anything, but there was a high demand for his death. TheMightyEthan
No, not Visari, that ISA guy who died on the desert part. *Edit* - I know that what Rico did was stupid, I'm not saying it wasn't, I'm just saying that the whole game is so ridiculous and overdone that I really don't care about the plot at all. CorgiShinobi
Rico was the embodiment of why I couldn't fully invest in the plot/story for KZ2. It's a shame because there is a lot of effort put into the "mythos" of how a highly profitable corporation turned into a colonized race that had to essentially adapt to their new world. It went from an invasion to a "Dammit Rico, don't mess this up for us!" In KZ3, Rico is better as Strangelove said, but with the lack of a Visari or even a character like Radec, it isn't as engaging. The gameplay though you'll definitely enjoy. It definitely becomes "epic," but that's more so the actual game than any exact thing. TheMightyEthan
Steam sales are responsible for probably 80% of my backlog. Re Rico: There were only two parts of the game where he bothered me much, though I think part of that was because the character development was so non-existent that I was probably 75% of the way through the game before I was confident I even knew who was who, so overall I can't say Rico's personality really had any impact on my enjoyment of the plot. For me it all just goes back to the fact that the game treated everything like srs bsns but the writing and voice acting was just so poorly done that it was laughable. I agree that it's a shame because the lore for the game really is cool and you can tell they put a lot of work into it, and it's sad that they had to go and ruin it by taking themselves too seriously.
Strangelove
Ive always wanted to play Alan Wake. I even considered getting a 360 for it and uhh, other games probably. Sadly my laptop cant run it. I should probably save up for a better pc or laptop instead of a 360.
toxicitizen
Grabbed this earlier today Was tempted last time it was on sale and ended up not getting it but at 3 bucks it was kind of a no-brainer. Also grabbed just now I kinda wanted to buy it when it was a flash deal for 5 bucks but I've already played it on PS3 so I decided not to. Then a few mins ago I saw that it's also 5 bucks on Green Man Gaming and it's a Steam key so I used a promo code I had to knock an additional buck off the price and just used my store credit to get it. GMG is really growing on me lately.
deanb
Eleven hates me edit: Cheap enough that the DRM doesn't matter so much. I'd been looking at it since the E3 showing.

deanb
My sister had it and I played her copy a fair bit, so had never had a huge reason to own it myself, but thought I may as well hop along. GOTY edition too so few extras here n there (I assume)

TheMightyEthan
From Dust only has the connect-at-launch DRM anyway, so it's not that bad.
TheMightyEthan
Luckily it's part of Tropico 4, which I already own, so it doesn't count as an addition to my backlog (since Tropico 4's already on there).
Mal
Just got them since Origin is on a flash sale. Ys games may not be deep but they're fun as hell. I expect these two to be the same. The first 2-3 games you didn't even have to press to attack since you're such a badass that you run into enemies to dice them up. toxicitizen
Red DLC. As awesome as this game is, 10 bucks seemed a bit overpriced for it. But for 2 bucks it's an instant buy.

toxicitizen
Oh fuck yes! I was so pissed when it didn't win the community vote and was really hoping it would come back as a flash or daily deal. It was pretty much the only big title I was on the lookout for, too. So hopefully my wallet can relax a bit now.
Luftwaffles
Plus some DLC. Don't really care if it's not too big of a jump from 3, honestly. Tropico is fun, and this might get me to play it a tad more.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Picked up for Android. Usually don't pay for apps, but $4 to test out a normally $35 board game is a pretty decent deal.
