It has a unique style. It's also Unreal 2.5 as opposed to the (kinda aging now too) Unreal 3 Infinite (and many other 7th gen games) uses. Infinite also has a custom lighting solution too, which makes Infinite pretty pretty. The water however is pretty much the same. Age okay though. It's also got a shit ton more jump scares and tension than Infinite (which has..one).

I don't think the original BioShock is dated at all. Might not look as great as more recent titles, but honestly, who gives a shit about graphics. Also, the original has pretty much ruined water effects in games for me. Now, whenever I can walk through water falling down, I have to look up. In most games, you basically just clip through a flat texture with an animation on it, and as you look up it's like you're standing in the middle of a sheet of paper or something and it kills the illusion right there. In BioShock, your vision gets all blurry and filled with water. Small detail but a really nice touch, imho.

And it's a damn good one! My heart almost jumped out of my chest. It was awesome. I didn't find the original to be scary at all, though. Creepy? Maybe a bit. But every time someone talks about how scary they thought it was, they just sound like huge pussies.

Bioshock 1 graphically has aged pretty well. The shooting is off though. Its...not great. It's good enough, but its not going to win any awards. Actually none of the gameplay is spectacular. It has a lot of variety, so thats how it makes it up. Shitloads of minigames.

And no, its not scary, its just disturbing and dark. It has a very dreadful atmosphere.

To be honest, the shooting isn't all that great in Infinite either. I wouldn't go as far as some people and claim that it's outright bad. It's just never been the series' main strength. It's.. serviceable.

The customization is better in the original, though. And that makes combat a bit more interesting. And then you throw in the photography mini-game. Infinite's combat feels a bit more bare bones in comparison.
