You did... Again, it's hard to keep tabs on the list - apparently more than I thought.

And I'm not saying it was coined externally, or even suggesting there is a centralized group.

First part of my post was at TFG and his "lump the freaks together", your posts wasn't there til I posted, hence the addition of "edit:" :P

First male athlete to come out while still active in a major US team sport though it says he's not currently attached to a team so I don't know how active he is. Can't say I know enough about basketball to know if that's a bad/common thing or not though.

Still, it's a major step and I hope it goes well for him so it will reassure enough other people to do it that it doesn't even have to be a thing any more.

Mind you, I say that but there aren't really any jobs in which public profile is a major aspect where it isn't still a major consideration at best and more likely a hinderance.

He's 34 years old, and on the way out of the league.  He really doesn't have many career options left in the NBA anway.  He averaged a point per game this last season and 2 rebounds per game.

This actually might work out in his favor and open doors.  Before this, who had heard of him?  Now, he's a hero in certain ways.  TV and commentary might have just opened up a slot for a name people will recognize.

Signing him to come off the bench would definitely draw a crowd for a team in a largly populated gay area, especially in teams that suck ballz from year-to-year and no one wants to see.

Stereotyping sports fans? Jeez! I thought we were beyond that.

He's got connections in the Bay Area, with all of the stations in the Bay Area reporting that he is a former Stanford player. He's been invited to lead the Boston Gay Pride Parade on the other coast. He's getting a lot of positives for his bravery, which is good to hear.

So Mike Krahulik of Penny Arcade decided to become an ass-hat today. And he seems quite pleased with himself about it too.

It started with this

https://twitter.com/cwgabriel/status/347752256466219008

heads up if you use the word "cis" save yourself some time and don't bother tweeting at me.

Then progressed through

then yeah, his admittance to feeding off the hate.

https://twitter.com/cwgabriel/status/347759233741246465

Always a very adult reaction to have. More on his feed, I'm not linking whole chain and all the responses.

He didn't even need the anonymity part.

Problem is many people look up to these guys, and they'll take a similar view. On top of that, these are the guys heading two of the largest gaming events in the calendar. His attitude isn't exactly a healthy one to take. There's being passive on trans issues, and then there's being outright derogatory and refusing to listen. And being proud of that fact too.

The thing I find weird is they usually come across as the reasoned and level-headed  side of the online gaming community. I guess he was trying to be funny on twitter? I wouldn't touch that as a topic for comedy unless I was deeply in the community and known to be by the world at large. even then... talk about a minefield.

He's not actually insulting trans people, it sounds like he meant people who use the term rather than trans people. Sometimes the limits on there may mangle your meaning a bit but it just seems completely off tangent and unnecessary to bring up at all.

I don't even get his point really though? I guess it sounds a bit PC-brigade and maybe the meaning isn't so well know to the population at large but it's an important word for your vocabulary when you're talking about that subject. What's the alternatives? Gay/straight are neutral terms but for trans issues, what else is there? " are you trans or normal?" would go down a storm.

If he'd had left it as his original tweet then yeah, I'd get it as a vague "anti-social justice" thing. But when he went further on with his "women have vaginas" thing, and his half-arse apology of sorts to his friend in the email it's clearly something a bit more deep seated than just disliking people that overuse the term cis-.
