http://www.ouya.tv/game-developers-how-to-get-started-on-ouya-now/

They've a post up that gives a fair bit of info on making games for it, mainly in the "what specs to aim your game for". Also stated it's gonna be Jelly Bean too (Jelly Bean came out like right before or right after their KickStarter so it was at the time listed as ICS). Probably one of the biggest tweaks to their game devs will need to take into account is that there's no back or menu buttons, which could prove to be an issue. Mainly at the moment saying to test run it on a Tegra 3 tablet should give you a good idea of where your game will be at with running speeds n such on the Ouya.

Couldn't that be remedied by using the "PS" button to bring up a menu?

EDIT: I'm assuming this is the Android buttons at the bottom which have no real effect on the game running, unless that is a thing on Android, being open and all. :D

There will be a single system button on the controller that will bring up an OUYA-standard pause menu, and allow you to send a gamer to your own settings menu.

Yeah it's using the "PS menu". The main issue though is that menu and back are two default buttons of android phones and tablets, which means most games are built on the assumption they're there. So when you want to open a menu in the game, there's a menu button. When you want to back out of a screen/menu etc, there's a back button. Means they'll need to make a few extra tweaks to their games that mightn't have needed to be done if it had a back n menu button on the controller, or used the triangle n circle as such.

Dev kits are now in the hands of devs and PAR have hit up some of the devs. Looks pretty positive outlook for the devs; SDK uses Unity, porting to Ouya controller even simpler than to Steams Big Picture, and the hardware is standard fair so can get good results before optimization. The only big question left at the moment is the dev back-end for the service, submitting games and getting in payment (though the Airmech guys have stated they're using their own system anyway).

Some updates to the controller. I'm thinking given they've gone with rubberising instead of inverting the thumbsticks MS might have a very strong patent on that idea cos general agreement is the dips are good but you never really see it anywhere else.

Ouya to get Reds, The Cave and DoubleFine Adventure. Also something from Words with Friends creator but that isn't named/announced.

Also it's to hit Amazon, Best Buy, Target and I swear I read Gamestop elsewhere but maybe not:

They plan to follow the phone structure, update and release a new model each year. I don't think I like that idea, but it kind of makes sense to keep up with the android/iphone games that are released to play on the newest phones. Although it does make it less appealing to me.

Yeah some people seem a rather vehemently opposed to this idea despite the fact that it's how Tegra and many phones are produced. Android itself is a on a current annual tick-tock release schedule. It's not a Nintendo/MS/Sony console so it doesn't need to arbitrarily tie itself to such long-term and obsolescence inducing release schedules. So you get the mobile/PC advantage of being able to make use of latest tech while still supporting the current install base. Just seems some sensible people who I know don't do it with PC components feeling they'd need to buy every single new Ouya that comes out each year.
