Because it's not a Kojima game. :P Also, people hate Konami with a passion, something I don't wholy agree with but eh, I'm trying to keep an open mind, but I would've preferred an SP game with co-op elements rather than the focus on co-op they seem to be going with, mostly because everyone I know that plays MGS is spread across multiple platforms, so it's kinda hard to get a team going. :P

We'll see where it goes, certainly not what I was expecting, but IMO, it's way better than a pachinko thingy. :P

Thinking about it, MGS has had zombies (or zombie-like) enemies in the past, sure, they weren't the main enemy, but they were there. Also, there's been spin-offs too, Rising was cool, never played Ac!d and I'm not sure if Ghost Babel counts as a spin-off or not, the point is, it may work, I understand some of these reactions after all that went on with V and the Kojima/Konami split, but still, a lot of people seem to be overreacting, for my part, after watching the trailer a couple of times, I'm now somewhat optimistic, will wait for a gameplay trailer before getting my hopes up, but if they manage to blend the gameplay of V with the zombie concept, it could be a cool game. Still somewhat annoyed with the co-op stuff, but we'll see how that turns out. :P

Undead Nightmare wasn't a 4 player co-op game.

Yeah, those shitty Resident Evil co-op games are a better comparison here.

If Konami are actually serious about wanting to regain the fans, then going with a co-op zombie survival game, the most generic fucking thing possible, is... bold, I guess? I mean, if they somehow still have people capable of recreating MGSV's gameplay for this, then I might actually bite. Gameplay was the best aspect of MGSV and it was god-tier. Could actually be fun.

But there's no way in hell this kind of project is going to win back anyone. They'd have to be out of their goddamned minds to think so.

I guaran-fucking-tee you Konami isn't trying to "win people back" with this one. They have the assets from MGSV and they don't want to program enemy AI so they're shitting this out to make a quick buck and turning the enemies into brain dead, easy to code zombies. It's so obvious that it's insulting.

I was referring to comments recently made by one of their PR guys. It's what he said they intended to do and this is the first game they've announced since. I can only assume it's a part of that effort. Beyond that, we haven't really seen anything so I'm not jumping to conclusions. It's Konami so I'm not expecting much but that's about it.

You seem needlessly upset over this and it hardly seems worth it to me. Maybe chill a bit? Have a cup of hot chocolate or something? I mean, as far as I'm concerned, MGS has already been shit on plenty with TPP. The gameplay was incredible but it was its only saving grace. This doesn't seem particularly worse to me than what Kojima already did with the MGS canon. Or maybe I just don't give a shit anymore...

It's not even just reused assets. I recognize exactly which part of the map that is, it's the exact same outpost. Honestly, it looked pretty cool until I went "Ha, I recognize that building. Wait. Oh..."

Whether or not I get this will depend on how important co-op is. The first half of the video looked like more of that god-tier MGSV gameplay but the defense phase didn't look like something that would be fun to do solo.

Whatever their grievances are with Konami, I find it astonishing how Hideo Kojima seems to always get away with murder. You know, the same guy who was its VP since 2011? The one who finds it imperative to hire Hollywood actors with the company showing signs of being in dire straits?

I dunno, folks can like his projects all they want that’s not the issue—me, I find him a complete hack and a plagiarist--, but all this selective outrage is getting into dangerous groupthink to even rival all that brown-nosing Geoff Keighley did not long ago.

Very likely, because it's just too much of a coincidence. It's not much of a stretch as everything follows a consistent pattern. Only thing I wonder is if Yota and Yugi are backstabbers to Kojima, or people think little of them for keeping their job while Kojima and others were blacklisted by Konami.

The KJP FOREVER stuff was technically in The Phantom Pain too, as those are the names of the wandering mother base soldiers. The other stuff, yeah I can see it being a thing. :P

Edit: Here are the names:
