toxicitizen
I am... probably going to double dip on this. At least if the price is reasonable. I just can't say no to Metal Gear. I think that would make my third or fourth purchase of MGS1 through 3.
Strangelove
Red band trailer is out. It is uhh...red band. Besides the gore, this game is seriously somber and depressing. Its just dark as fuck. Moreso than any MGS game before it.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Wow. This looks amazing. Spot on about the mood. With the talk of Outer Haven, getting a group together, Snake already thinking of himself as a monster... could this be the game that finally cements him as Big Boss from the original Metal Gear games? TCP
Despite the melodramatic pop music, that was.. really.. really good. Dark too. That stuff with the boy? Dark.
toxicitizen
Goddamn, that looks incredible. I have a feeling that, much like MGS4 before it, the day MGS5 comes out will be the day I'll be buying a PS4. I'll be able to do without one right up until that point.
Mal
That is my plan too FLD. Though, there is a slight possibility that this MGS5 could show up on the PC (due to the FOX Engine). Now, about MSG5... oh my god. Its like they went back their vision of MSG3 (My favorite) and completely filled in what they couldn't do. About the maturity, I wonder if we'll have to face child soldiers. That would be a very interesting thing for them to do.
TCP
Could the Eli boy be Solid Snake? He'd be about that age wouldn't he?
Mercurial
Unless they're retconning again probably not.
Strangelove
I think it might be Liquid...just cuz. Also, I dont mind Kiefer Sutherland's voice, it kind of sounds like Big Boss in MGS4, which I liked enough. Im a hardcore MGS fanboy, but Im over the voice change. It was eventually going to happen anyways. Also, MGS5 is going to be released on PS3, PS4, 360, and Xbone. Fuck you, Wii U! toxicitizen
I'm not hung up over the voice change either, it doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as the new Sam Fisher voice does. But I still feel Kiefer's wrong for it. He's doing a great job from what I've seen but, and maybe it's because I was a huge 24 fan, but his voice just sounds wrong to me. Too recognizable, in a bad way.
TCP
Kiefer's got a nice voice, and the facial capture from a good actor like him will be good. AND DAMMIT KOJIMA, EXPLAIN WHAT GROUND ZEROS IS ALL ABOUT!!!!
Strangelove
Umm, GZ is a prologue before The Phantom Pain. Its the same game.
toxicitizen
Talked about this with Hakidia/Krieger/Grandad earlier, actually. He seemed to think it would be a separate game and linked me an article from 2 months ago. I thought it was assumed that GZ was simply the first chapter, like MGS4's Act 1 or something. I figured that "Ground Zeroes" was just their way to show off the engine and gameplay before actually revealing MGS5 itself and is not an actual game on its own. Would be ridiculous to release two separate games and go "This + this = MGS5 lol". Edited June 11, 2013 by FLD
TCP
Umm, GZ is a prologue before The Phantom Pain. Its the same game. So is it on the same disc? Is it similar to the tanker sequence in MGS2? The way they've been handling it, it sounds like two separate games that together create MGSV.

toxicitizen
Ridiculous story, yes. But splitting a game in two and charging you twice? Yeah, he can go fuck himself if that's what happens.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Aren't they both the same thing and they're just two parts of the same game? The whole 9 year gap?
Thursday Next
So like MGS2? With Tanker and Big Shell?
toxicitizen
Yeah, pretty much. That's what I expect.
Mister Jack
There is no fucking way you'll fight child soldiers in MGSV. As much as it would help the story have an impact with players, it's just asking for trouble. That aside, it still looks like the story of this game could be the deepest since MGS3 if it lives up to its potential. I'm definitely looking forward to playing it. CorgiShinobi
Considering Resident Evil 5 got into a megaton of controversy for having a white dude punch black people in Africa, I doubt Kojima is going to have "Punished" Snake gun down child soldiers in Africa. Well, maybe he'll shoot one in a cutscene. He doesn't seem too fond of kids in the trailer. Edited June 12, 2013 by Atomsk88
TCP
Kids aren't the future, Snake is the future!!
Faiblesse Des Sens
But Snake is a kid during the time this game takes place, so therefor kids are the future.
TCP
Clarification! Courtesy of IGN. Ground Zeroes perhaps best represents this idea. "Phantom Pain is the big game, and included in that is the prologue, Ground Zeroes," Kojima said.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Seriously, didn't we know this several weeks ago?
