Cyber Rat
Beta Weekend is done. This game looks really good. It's not AS GOOD as I had hoped for, but it's still very good. Definitely playing it. So far, the general plan is to get all Euros from the forum on the same server. Kovach and I will be making a Seal Clubbers' Clubbing Club guild. Nothing hardcore, just play when you can, how much you can, and build guild reputation to make life for everyone much easier. Aside from the two of us, Johnny will also be joining on the Euro side. Anyone else? The server we'll be playing on is Vabbi Gunnar's Hold. For you blokes across the pond, please use this thread to organize yourselves as well. Also, Elementalist is crazy fun. Hot Heart
I should probably start looking up the details on this. It has me intrigued, and I do like the 'payment model'. I played the first for a bit while friends did, but it was pretty dull without them. Sooo...any useful articles or things worth reading? Also, your mentioning of the Elementalist reminded me of my friend's character called IllusionsMichael. Or maybe that was a straight-up sorceror or something...I can't remember much about the game. Either way, the reference always made me chuckle. Edited July 23, 2012 by Hot Heart
Johnny
The only bad thing I can say so far about Guild Wars 2 is that it has managed to meet my (admittedly high) expectations without exceeding them. I wish I hadn't read up so much about it beforehand. Kinda spoils the surprise when I'm like "SEEN THIS BEFORE!" upon playing
Maritan
Seal Clubbers' Clubbing Club Damn, I wish I liked MMOs. Played a couple of hours during BWE and there was nothing I haven't seen in other games, sadly. I really wanted to like GW2. Baconrath
Seal Clubbers' Clubbing Club This guild name is the best guild name.
Little Pirate
Really excited for this, I'll finally play an MMO where I know people. We should get a good PressX guild going. Dunno about a guild name. If this were WoW I would have gone with Horde Myself Out but this isn't WoW, so...
madbassman39
If us on the left side of the pond want to group together I am more than willing to do so! Or figure out if we want to play and the EU servers.
Luftwaffles
Seal Clubbers' Clubbing Club I have no interest in the game, but like others have said, that is an absolutely fantastic name.
excel_excel
Hey I may just have to get it....hmm August 28th?......yeah that could work....
Cyber Rat
Turns out you can join guilds that aren't on your server and jump in to do PvE content with them. The only restriction is that you're unable to play WvW. So, if anyone from across the pond wants to join the Seal Clubbers' Clubbing Club, you are more than welcome! Mister Jack
If I download it now is it basically like preloading or am I downloading a useless beta that will just get replaced?
madbassman39
If I download it now is it basically like preloading or am I downloading a useless beta that will just get replaced? I believe it is almost like preloading, but only up to the last beta, so I believe you still will have the client of the game fully loaded and will need a release patch which may be big. I could be completely wrong though
Mister Jack
That's fine. I just don't want to download 13 gigs now and then later on it turns out I was wasting space.
Waldorf and Statler
I say we make a Guild real quick and get a Game of Thrones name. Errbody will be jelly
Johnny
Sooo after the latest two beta stress tests I am much more impressed by the PvP side than I was earlier. Don't play the hot join matches for like 20 people. Do 5v5 tournament matchmaking instead. Much better; everyone actually tries, no to few leavers, and less players make it less about running around in a huge group smashing everyone's face.
Cyber Rat
For anyone who wants to join the guild, here's the forum that goes with it: http://club-seal.shivtr.com/forums
madbassman39
Americans, (this includes all two of the continents because your only choice is America and Europe) I'm hoping on the Dragonbrand Server now, but if we change servers it should be free to change for a little while. Mister Jack
I'm on Sanctum of Rail, just to put it out there.
Cyber Rat
Just an FYI, we've moved servers to Gunnar's Hold
Kau_Kau
I spent the day looking up information on GW2 and am really leaning towards getting it. The dynamic events and the fact that class can do everything is really enticing me. The only fear I have is that I may get quickly burned out on it and feel like I was just playing WoW again. From the videos I've seen it does feel like something that may be different enough from WoW, but I was just wondering if anyone could speak of their similarites or differences. Cyber Rat
I'll need more time with the game before I can give you a reliable estimate, but since it's not subscription-based, I think you can allocate your play time in such a way to avoid burnout. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, since you're not paying for the time you won't feel obligated to play like with P2P games.
Little Pirate
I'll finally be joining the Sanctum server tonight at midnight. I'm still torn between making an elementalist or a ranger. I've never had any problems doing ranger classes in other games so I might go with that one for familiarity, but elementalists look pretty darned cool. Not to mention the magic users can get the skimpy outfits.
madbassman39
Pirate, I played both in beta, both were awesome, but Elementalist was so kick ass.
