Mister Jack
Next to MLP and Breaking Bad, this is one of my favorite shows right now. I didn't see a thread for it and decided that needed to be rectified. So here's the place for any AT fans on this forum to discuss the show, post pictures, or do whatever it is that tickles your fancy related to the Land of Ooo.
Mal
Pretty much my ringtone. I did not appreciate this being spammed while the telemarketers spam called me. So at the moment I've been thinking of changing it to Bacon Pancake. Also, no new episode this coming Monday. I think season finale is on the 17th. Edit: Lastly... PB or FP? Neither? TheRevanchist
FP. She appreciates him more. Heck, even LSP appreciates him more, because she knows his lumps are on the inside. Did you notice that PB was only at the treehouse to collect taxes?
Mister Jack
Definitely FP. PB may not mean any harm, but her dismissive attitude toward Finn really messes him up sometimes. As much crap as he puts up with, I like seeing him with someone who makes him happy.
TheRevanchist
Here is something else to think about. Goliad was created from the DNA of PB. Goliad was only concerned about ruling the kingdom. When PB created Stormo from Finn's DNA, Stormo had only one thing in mind: To save the people at all costs to himself. Then, Goliad and Stormo, though kindred spirits, are now locked up for an eternity in constand duel with each other. That's not what I want for Finn. But, this seaon has so many cute question marks for me, like BMO & Lorraine. Will they ever be together? Will the cats ever catch up to Lorraine and arrest her? Will Jake be a good dad? Waldorf and Statler
Not to mention in the episode of FP and Finn dating, PB was perfectly fine with cutting off the oxygen and basically letting FP die. Revanchist you bring a good point, never realized how deep that was until you mentioned it. That's fucking awesome for a cartoon in CN. And also I gotta agree I'm such an FP guy. PB was only interested in him truly when they were kids. The second she got older she lost all interest. FP is his age and genuinely cares for him and what he thinks of her. She used to be pretty passionate, which could be viewed as evil, but Finn has calmed her down.
Mister Jack
Granted, PB had a good reason for trying to break them up/sacrifice them, but she was kind of callous about the whole thing. I don't think she means to be, but she's so wrapped up in her royal duties and studies that she seems to have some difficulty understanding individual people on a personal level. That might be why Lemongrab turned out so downright crazy and autistic. She gave him all the parts he needed to function as a biological life form, but he still had a "lemon heart." Waldorf and Statler
PB's two creations have been awful. She's a brilliant scientist and a good ruler, but yeah she sucks on personal relationships.
Mister Jack
Changing the subject but one of my favorite things about this show's sense of humor is how any episode has the potential to suddenly get very weird and sometimes downright creepy at the ending, often with a scene that has virtually nothing to do with the flow of the plot at hand. Those sudden shifts produce some of the show's most memorable moments for me. Who could forget THIS guy? http://youtu.be/c8u097puKT8
Waldorf and Statler
The best thing about this show for me is Lumpy SpacePrincess
CorgiShinobi
First, Mal, that's a favorite of mine too and I've been thinking of suggesting it to this remix musician guy on YouTube as he has done other Adventure Time pieces. Second, Flame Princess. I've grown less fond of Princess Bubblegum because, like Revan was saying with Goliad, we're seeing more of her character. At first she's this goofy genius character, but the impression I'm getting with her now is that she can become too technical/logical, and though she can speak of feelings, she herself seems to distance herself from being honest to those around here. Flame Princess is simply cursed with having a great source of destructive power. Finn is willing to go through severe burns to save her, and she in turn returns those feelings because he allows her to open up to him. Overall, I worry that I'm not as drawn into Adventure Time as I once was. The show seems to at time have two different progressions: structured depth and impromptu goofiness. As odd as those two sound, what I mean to say is that at times it seems the writers (and etc) will take their time and build on the characters of the show. Previously events will be recognized and further explored. One of my recent favorites was the King Worm episode where Finn went through all his fears to combat King Worm's control. Of course, lets not forget the Ice King's origin! The recent episode however, it kinda bothered me. I'll admit it's rather foolish of me to think this, and I did get many laughs out of it, but when the solution to Finn and Jake's fight with 'The Farm" is to fight cheap so that can become "Brolegends," it feels like it goes against Finn's character to be fighting cheap. Jake himself seems to have two different personalities: the zany procrastinator or the supportive companion. Hopefully you guys get what I'm trying to say, but I'm also still going to watch the show. Just, as an adult I notice these things that younger fans of the show wouldn't even consider and that is the primary audience. So, like, why care? Waldorf and Statler
Honestly I don't care if their characters change as long as their traits stay over-all the same. They have always wanted to become better legends, and they observed that all these great warriors were getting their asses kicked so they had no option. Mister Jack
Let's not also forget that Finn and Jake are both pretty stupid, especially when they don't have someone smarter around to guide their actions. If there isn't immediate evil for them to fight, they tend to act like a couple of asses.
Waldorf and Statler
Finn wanted to stunt Jake from a giant spider web. That's proof enough they're no brains in the passion of the moment.
TheRevanchist
Atom, I thought the same thing about fighting The Farm. However, this was also a great episode to show the boys learning more about what to do to be heroic in the future and how they are both still young and immature. So, think this will come into play in another episode this summer, especially with Jake becoming a dad and Finn getting all the way to the second step with FP. My son is starting to watch with me, so I think I am going to get him season 1 for his birthday in a couple of weeks here.
Waldorf and Statler
One more week until new Adventure Time? And Regular Show is over? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mister Jack
Ah Regular Show. I dig that one too but I wasn't sure if it had enough fans here to demand its own thread.
CorgiShinobi
Regular Show rarely disappoints me, though "Big Kiss" ended rather poorly if you ask me. Maybe because Mordecai didn't learn anything, or that if him and Margaret kiss again, he'll technically have his second kiss and he has this obsession to make things perfect with her so we know he'll create more trouble. Waldorf and Statler
He learned to always have something to freshen his breath with at all time. Also who cares if he learned anything, at least Margaret finally likes him
Mister Jack
You know who I want to know more about? This little fucker right here: The show HEAVILY implies that Peppermint Butler is a source of evil and darkness that may very well equal or surpass the likes of Hunson Abadeer and even the Lich. All kinds of questions are raised about this guy, and one thing I've learned from this show is that things that seem completely random and out of nowhere often have deeper implications.
Waldorf and Statler
The show also suggested that Gunther was the most evil creature in the land of Ooo, I wouldn't take it too seriously.
CorgiShinobi
He learned to always have something to freshen his breath with at all time. Also who cares if he learned anything, at least Margaret finally likes him But Margaret has liked him for a long while. It's just, to me, we see all these instances of Mordecai being gross and, as Rigby said, she still let him kiss her. Most of the time Regular Show is a laugh riot of 80's references, adult humor, and physical gags. Still, at times the characters do develop in ways like Mordecai controlling his jealousy and Rigby gaining perseverance. I imagine in a future episode Margaret is probably going to have to actually say something to Mordecai where he doesn't overreact and imagine things are ruined with her because of an embarrassment. Yeah, Mr. Serious Here, but whenever it comes to Margaret-Mordecai episodes, I judge them a little more harshly. On Peppermint Butler... I feel like he's more of a gag character where we, the audience, know he has dark attributes, but it may not amount to anything significant. There's a lot more hinted at, like the Lich King planning something, or when on Mars it was said The King of Mars was prophesied to meet Jake. EDIT: Actually, there are a lot of things hinted at in the course of the series. Magic Man's lady friend, Susan Strong being human, the Mushroom Wars, PB's feelings for Finn, and now we have Jake soon-to-be father of Magical Rainicorn-Dogs. Mister Jack
If they only did the Peppermint Butler thing once or twice I'd just write it off as a gag, but they allude to it over and over and over. The mention of his name is enough to get friggin DEATH to acquiesce to Finn's demands, he threatens to take Finn and Jake's flesh while they sleep, he plays golf with Hunson Abadeer, he could sense the Lich inside Princess Bubblegum, and he showed quite a bit of resistance to being hooked up to her aura machine. This guy has secrets.
CorgiShinobi
I doubt they'll write anything about it though other than it's an attribute of him, like sensing evil. The ripping flesh thing was an end gag, playing golf with Hudson Abadeer was a sight gag, and Death and him are acquaintances. Resisting the aura device is part of it all, however with the pace the show goes to build upon things, maybe he'll serve a purpose for when the Lich King returns. Which will be four seasons later... Waldorf and Statler
I'm sure it's a gag at this point he has evil traits. I wouldn't read too much into it for now.
