excel_excel
http://www.siliconer...tion-3-in-2013/ WOOO. I'm pumped! Been waiting for this! Bordered and no 60hz option for the original PAL release of KH sucked. This has got Kingdom Hearts Final Mix HD, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories HD and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days HD with EDIT: JUST the cutscenes from that one. Like no gameplay. WTF? Kingdom Hearts 2 doesn't appear to be included, which is bizarre. Perhaps that'll come in a 2nd HD collection along with Re:coded and Birth By Sleep. It'll be available in 2013. TCP
Yes, looks like there will be a second collection for KH2. Apparently 358/2 will only be cutscenes, not the actual game. Weird! I wonder what will be released first, this, or Final Fantasy X HD. I'd hope for FFX... but this is Square... And actually, I don't think it's even been confirmed for a western release, has it? excel_excel
Yeah, edited my post with that info. How bizarre is that? I guess 358/2 would need a far bit more sprucing up to release it seeing as its a DS title, and the cutscenes were made using the KH PS2 engine and then rendered into videos when put on the DS. Just seems weird. I mean cutscenes really?
Mister Jack
This is really not much of a collection. You get one game in the main series, a spin-off, and a bunch of cutscenes? What? This collection should have been obvious. How do they manage to fuck it up?
Mal
Oh hey, I guess I can get a good idea of the storyline now.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Implying this is getting released outside of Japan. Also 358/2 was pretty shit so no complaints about not having the gameplay (understandable that they wouldn't want to port a DS game, too.) Anyways, I can definitely see a KH2.5 collection coming out if this does well.
excel_excel
Why wouldn't it get released over here? All the Kingdom Hearts games have been release in the West. No reason this one shouldn't be.
TCP
Considering we haven't gotten Type-0, Dragon Quest X, or Bravely Default, or even an announcement for those titles, it seems that western releases aren't a high priority for Square Enix these days. I mean, it makes sense, as Japan has such a larger consumer base. OH WAIT--!!! It would make sense to release it in the west, but the fact that they didn't mention a North America release concerns me.

It's not about the size of the userbase it's about the number of people who will buy certain types of games. I can't imagine DQX doing well in NA at all. The series has never gotten much traction outside of Japan and a MMO would definitely never work As for Type-0: PSP software sales are much smaller outside of Japan. Well that's just been the way Square Enix have done things with their 'ultimate' version of most games. The cell phone game was Coded, which was released as Re: Coded on the DS. There's no reason to not assume this won't get a release considering how everything is basically translated already.

I am inclined to agree with you, however, Square did release The 3rd Birthday in North America, just months before Type-0 was finished. Obviously Final Fantasy has a much bigger name than a franchise that hasn't seen a new game since the PS1. I think DQX could do OK in North America, since they gained a lot of traction on that series with DQIX, but they'd probably have to take the Monster Hunter route and go without subscriptions in North America... time will tell. Strangelove
The US is the final mix version. Final mix was only extra boss fights like Sephiroth and that thing with the cloak in the clock tower. And 358/2 isn't included because a big part of the game is online multiplayer. I guess they don't want to support it on consoles. The game sucks anyways.
excel_excel
Well, by remaking it, hopefully they'd make it better. Cutscenes? Bleh. Why even bother? Kingdom Hearts 2 would make this a much more complete feeling collection. Edited September 20, 2012 by excel_excel
Strangelove
Well, it's an hd port, not a remake. I don't knOw if you e ever played 358, but a game like that would need a lot of work. Every town is a ghost town and it's extremely repetitive. It's not a very good game. I'm also assuming 2 didn't make the cut because they're going to release a second collection that includes 2, BBS and coded cutscenes. I'll get that one. It has the two best games. CorgiShinobi
I was hoping for a collection with 1, 2, and BBS. I might get this still, especially if my PS3 does finally die and I can easily get all my PS2 games on that new PS3 model. I mean, all I have is Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, the Metal Gear Solid Collection for PS2, and the Half-Life port that's surprisingly good. This collection, the HD Metal Gear Solid collection, and get Half-Life on Steam and make it Black Mesa! 358/2 Days wasn't really bad, but it also wasn't really good. It at least had more story elements to it than Re: Coded. That's why I suspect 358/2 Days is included: Xion. Not to mention people eat up moments with Axel, so a bunch of Roxas & Co. cutscenes isn't too strange. Strangelove
Kh1 is just so outdated. After kh2 and BBS, it's unplayable to me.
CorgiShinobi
Very true. To this day I still have difficulty defeating Sephiroth in KH1 because of how basic Sora's attacks are, but in KH2, while still difficult, it's more manageable because of how fluid it feels. Strangelove
A lot of the levels in kh1 are also very small and cramped. The Alice, monstrous, and Tarzan levels come to mind. There's a lot platforming too, but the controls are also kind of crappy. There's a lot of stuff wrong with the game when you think about it. The battle system is really the only thing that remotely holds up.
「Advent Chaos」
The US is the final mix version. I guess they don't want to support it on consoles. The game sucks anyways. NOPE. Apart from an extra optional boss fight with "Unknown" Xemnas It also featured some new attacks which are also seen again in KHII Final Mix's "Limit Form" (Which are really neat!). Apart from some extra cutscenes, a few more heartless and accessories there isn't much for KHI Final Mix. I'm assuming that in this Remix they'll add a theater mode. 358/2 was extremely repetetive and many times downright boring. As much as I wanted to enjoy the game it really felt like a chore. If all we get is a "movie" kind of thing with the remix I'd be allright with it.
Strangelove
You're right. The cloak guy with the 2 light sabers. It also has a new mushroom enemy. Damn, I was really into kh back then.
「Advent Chaos」
The White Mushrooms were pretty fun, but NeoShadows are some of my favorite Heartless. They got kinda dumbed down in KH II, but in CoM & BbS Final Mix they were really tough swarms. (Unless you spam the shit out of Magnega or Thunder Surge in BbS). Looking forward to fighting the Org. members in KHII! I always thought I would end up resorting to playing KHII Final Mix on an emulator. CorgiShinobi
I'm excited, but then I realize that my PSP serves absolutely no purpose in the foreseeable future. This is the second gaming device this month that I'm finding myself with no use for ever again. After I do the Wii System Transfer for my Wii U, I can pull out my GameCube for GCN games. I wonder how much it would cost for a framed display for decorative purposes.
Strangelove
Japanese boxart for 2.5. I love it. Ive always been a Nomura defender. I feel like hes actually getting better. Yeah, he had a really stupid "tribal tattoo everything/place random shit where ever" phase in the early 2000s, but he's over it now. If you dont know what I mean look up "Dirge of Cerberus" or anything from the compilation of FF7. People can talk shit about his love of belts, but this shit is so much worse.
