deanb
Chew said he: /HopesToGetExcel Referencing Excel Excel (I assume). But Excel is also a spreadsheet program in Microsoft Office, thus Chew could be saying for his Secret Santa gift he wishes he could get a copy of MS Excel. EVE Online is referred to as "Spreadsheets in space" due to the vast number crunching one can do in the game economy. There's half the battle.
Mercurial
That's a really esoteric joke.
Chewblaha
New Suggestion: How about you put a list up of people who are interested once it is indeed compiled and list the username and their steam ID so we can add everyone at once. Kind of odd that I had to just randomly add people last year to throw off the track.
deanb
Chew: Alright, once I make an official sign-up form and the deadline for sign-ups passes, we'll send the whole list to everybody with Steam names and what not so we're all nice friends. Chewblaha
Well I clearly didn't see that one. /WalksIntoParkedCar
Saturnine Tenshi
I just pictured you doing that, Chewie. Sometimes having photos of people to reference for imaginary scenarios is very amusing.
Chewblaha
I was passing out papers a few weeks ago and a student moved his desk (unintentionally) and I walked into the corner of it and nearly flipped over. Bruises.
FredEffinChopin
All right, was hoping this would be going on again this year! Looking forward to participating.

deanb
Might it be best to add a section for GOG profile too if folks are also maybe to be adding stuff via GOG too? (Maybe a option for preference too, like if same game is on GOG n Steam, would they like DRM-freeness or steamworksness)
P4: Gritty Reboot
Ok, since people have already signed up maybe I'll do it on the forum somehow.

TheMightyEthan
As did I. *Edit* - Related: Steam needs a better Recommendations section. It only recommends like 10 games to you. I have like 300 games on my Steam account, it should be able to compile a pretty good list of games I might like. deanb
You can hit the on the recommendations for stuff that's irrelevant and it'll fill in with new ones. The main aim is to recommend DLC and sequels for you to buy. Unlike stuff like Netflix where it'll crunch massive algorithms and you're paying up already so their incentive is to keep you watching, get hooked on new TV series. Play Store is equally sucky recommendations for the same reason (You grab the preview of 50 shades for your mum once and that's all it ever throws at you. And unlike Steam there's no "I don't care for this" either.) Because steams recommendation engine is so simplistic having 300 games only makes it worse for you, rather than refine it. I played Dota 2, therefore I must like CS 1.6. And 5 of them are "content for your game". Nor has it taken into account I've already got Dishonored on my wishlist. (which it normally goes "Wishlist item is on sale", but I guess that fucks up during these events.)
Saturnine Tenshi
I signed up when the status update was posted. Because wakakakaka.
Little Pirate
I've been putting a lot of extra time in at work, so I think I'm in, too. So long as it's not over $15 I should swing it.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Awesome. We are at 18 people so far, already a better turnout than last year (I think it was 11 or so then...). I will re-post the signup sheet again before the end of November and we'll shut them off shortly after that.
Eleven
I assure you, it wasn't me. I did sign up this year. Hurray!

P4: Gritty Reboot
The current plan is to post a final announcement on the 30th and cut off all sign-ups after the end of November. I will then assign targets and create a new thread specifically for each participant to post a more thorough wishlist should they choose (reasons for wanting the specific games, genres you like generally, etc.). Waldorf and Statler
Once sign-ups are done can we post a list of all members's Steam names/accounts? Or make a steam group of some sort? Just so we don't have to scroll page after page. I'm a bean, the less work the better.
deanb
WaS: Chew: Alright, once I make an official sign-up form and the deadline for sign-ups passes, we'll send the whole list to everybody with Steam names and what not so we're all nice friends. Thursday Next
I've just had the most amazing idea!!! Once P4 makes an official sign-up form and the deadline for sign-ups passes, he can send the whole list to everybody with Steam names and what not so we're all nice friends. Thoughts?
