Eleven
Is iOS App Store gifting allowed? EDIT2: I was thinking of receiving something from it, not that I'm planning to gift an app. So I guess that would depend on the person giving the gift, but I was asking since we only have GoG and Steam named so far on the rules. EDIT: Sorry for the double post! Is double posting even frowned upon here? Edited November 29, 2012 by eleven
TheMightyEthan
It's mildly frowned upon, but as long as you're not doing it constantly/spamming then you're fine. My rule of thumb is that if it's within a couple minutes I'll edit my original post, but if it's been longer than that I'll make a new one. Also, if the new comment is unrelated to the previous one then I'm more likely to make a new post, but if it's related then I'm more likely to edit. deanb
Does App Store even have gifting? And is that something that can be done without installing iTunes on the giftees end? As for double posts: Somewhat forwned upon, there is an edit button so if you've got extra to add within a few minutes that is prefered. Thursday Next
Kinda takes the Santa-ness out of it, but couldn't you gift a code for itunes currency? If you were so inclined?
deanb
If we were to have just gift cards might as well expand it to PSN cards n MS points. It kinda dulls it a bit (also works unfarly towards non-US folks too since £10 is a fair bit more than $10 and vice versa).
P4: Gritty Reboot
I don't mind if people want to ask for gift cards. I will be making a thread where you can ask more specifically than Steam wishlists allow. Also, be aware of any regional restrictions before you purchase. I don't think Steam is usually an issue in that regard though. Wishlist post is up. Post your "wants" to your Santa (who will be assigned in 2 days). I also am thinking we'll not have a hard "gifting starts" deadline, but just recommend folks wait for the Steam sale for the best prices. http://forum.pressxordie.com/topic/1830-secret-santa-2012-wishlists/
TheMightyEthan
What's the "gifting ends" deadline? The Steam sale often runs into January, but if it's a Christmas thing it might be sensible to put in a cutoff.

Thursday Next
I agree with Ethan and propose boxing day (27th Dec) as the last day for Gifting. (Because I'm a traditionalist).
P4: Gritty Reboot
Yeah 27th or so would be fine. Last year it wasn't an issue as most people gifted on or around the first few days of the Steam sale.
ADIRTYWINDOW
I know haven't been that active here in a long time but I usually pop in once in a while. That being said, I signed up because I really enjoyed it last year. Also, I hope steam does something like the coal thing again to go along with sale.
Strangelove
I havent checked on this thread in a long time time and I didnt participate last year, but what I can logically come up with is that someone will message me the name of the person I will be gifting, Ill add them on Steam, check their wishlist, buy the game for them...and thats it. Is it more complicated than that? I hope not.
P4: Gritty Reboot
That is pretty much all there is to it.
TheMightyEthan
No, that's pretty much it. There's also a wishlist thread here for non-steam wishlists, but picking something of their Steam wishlist is fine.
Eleven
Strangelove, you might have to add more than 1 person just to hide who you're gifting. I just mentioned this since you said you don't check the thread much and might have overlooked this wonderful suggestion by P4, Thursday Next me. deanb
Also be adeding other people to Steam too, so as not to arouse suspicion of who you have in particular. (I kinda figure maybe P4 will send off the list of folks a bit before he sends out the specfiic secret santas)
