Waldorf and Statler
See now that's damn cool. No hidden 'fuck you' agenda. I approve and encourage innocence like this.
TheMightyEthan
Remember Me had trouble finding a publisher because apparently you can't have female characters in games. Le sigh. That kind of makes me want to go ahead and preorder the game right now. *Edit* - Except the PC version doesn't seem to be available anywhere yet. deanb
The cynic in me says there was more to it being turned down than having a female lead, but the developers are pushing this fact because they know there's people out there that will go out and grab this game based on that news than any other merits (or lack thereof) to the game. Especially in the current environment.
TheMightyEthan
Way to make me feel stupid! No but seriously, I was already planning to get this game, I've just been waiting until the PC version becomes available (boxed, I don't preorder digital downloads). Mister Jack
Normally I don't link GT shows but this seems relevant. http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/mm8chp/hey-ash--whatcha-playin---girl-games

TheMightyEthan
Apparently the company in charge of focus-testing The Last of Us wasn't planning to use any women in their groups. Naughty Dog had to specifically request it. I don't even know what to say to that.
Strangelove
That'a fucked up. Women don't play videogames, but they usually just watch their boyfriends play them. Give them something at least. Sheesh.
Faiblesse Des Sens
This seems like a game where people (not just women) would actually do that... so all jokes aside I actually can see how this would be relevant market research even if we're just talking screen watchers. Appeal to those that are playing and those that watch.

Waldorf and Statler
Can't remember which web-comic I read said it but basically it's written by a woman. That excuse of "she only does it to gain attention from the guys" according to her is bullshit and I can't disagree. Why would relatively attractive women care what man-children think? Say with cosplay? Some of them know more about certain shit than guys.

Dee
Aiieeee....facepalm? I don't even know where to begin. I mean, sure, it is not typical or expected of a woman to be a gamer aside from playing the crap she's got on her phone, but really? This is 2013. I am glad that ND has realized that there was an error in the testing of their video game because--as I'm sure all of you know--women do play video games. And some of them play more video games than what's on their cell phone. In fact, I am a bigger gamer than my brothers combined, and they're huge pussies who only play Battlefield and Call of Duty, if not the occasional racing game. This culture of video games still being a man's thing needs to stop because some companies are really screwing themselves out of potential consumers.
Alex Heat
So far, the two most common defenses I've seen have been: 1) You're just White Knighting and trying to be all holier than thou! 2) Why do people keep bringing up dicks? It's not like the penis is the only sexual part of a man that can be exaggerated! Sometimes I wanna smack the internet around.
