Nicolas Cage's Payin' The Bills: Part 35

Nic Cage got fired from The Green Hornet because he wanted to play his part with a Jamaican accent. Firstly, that's clearly pretty dumb (he's no Gary Oldman ;) ) Secondly, the part was some sort of villain, possibly one called Chupnofsky, that Christoph Waltz is now playing; definitely does not call for a Jamaican accent.

But then, maybe he wanted to find some way to 'dissociate' himself from the film.

I have to say I enjoyed Nicolas Cage in quite a few movies - Leaving Las Vegas, Matchstick Men, etc. But the guy makes it so easy to make fun of him.

That said, this one is obligatory:

Oh that reminds me, 8MM was pretty good from what I remember.

My favorite Nick Cage movie is "The Family Man". It's pretty touching.

Knowing was one of those movies that I just stared at the screen for 5 minutes after the screen.

:bun-headkb:

He's not a terrible actor but he just can't say no to a paycheck. That's why I compared him to Michael Caine.

Here's a (possibly) interesting thing check out the Hollywood Career-O-Matic here: http://www.slate.com/id/2296070/pagenum/all/ (you need to scroll down a bit) note that it's based on the Rotten Tomato scores, not individual contributions, but it's interesting none the less.

Check out Caine and Cage's stats. They are both prolific and both schizophrenic in that they star in some classics and some shit.

Also, just for funsies, compare Miyazaki to Boll. :D

That said, as stated in the article actors aren't *really* responsible for the rating the film gets. Directors are more consistent due to increased creative control.

Some more Cagefacts;

He halted the production of Trespass for THREE WEEKS because he was suddenly convinced that he wanted to play the villain instead of the protagonist. Took him three weeks to be convinced that such a move simply wasn't possible.

On the set of the second Ghost Rider film, to get "in character", he would run around set with his face painted black, crazy contact lenses in and "Egyptian artefacts" sewn into his clothes.

"

And then I would walk on the set projecting this kind of aura of horror and I would see in the eyes of my co-stars [looks amazed] - they would go like this and light up. The fear was there and it was just like oxygen to a fire. And that led me to believe that maybe I really was this spirit of vengeance. The problem is if you have a Christmas party in Romania and you’re shooting until 2am and you’re invited to go to the Christmas party and some Schnapps is involved, and you’re still in character, all hell can break loose and it did. I’m lucky I’m not in a Romanian prison! [Laughs]"
