Chewblaha
So here I am wondering what kind of playlist I need on my new iPhone 5™ (in stores now) for when I'm in the company of females. Now this does not mean I'm going to put all these lovey-dovey songs or light only, I'll throw stuff in here that's not conventional. I'm just realizing that many people have enjoyed the following stuff. I've comprised this (14 songs max [No country]) playlist, in no particular order: Incubus: "Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song)" Daft Punk: "Digital Love" R.E.M.: "Man on the Moon" The Offspring: "Gotta Get Away" Thin Lizzy: "Dancing in the Moonlight (It's Caught Me in its Spotlight)" Boston: "More than a Feeling" Bush: "The Sound of Winter" Pink Floyd: "Wish You Were Here" Billy Idol "Mony Mony" 311: "Don't Tread on Me" Dire Straits: "Sultans of Swing" The Beatles: "With a Little Help From My Friends" The Rolling Stones: "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" The Clash: "Rock the Casbah"
Faiblesse Des Sens
I don't get why this is even a problem. What the fuck are you listening to normally? Edited December 3, 2012 by Faiblesse Des Sens
Waldorf and Statler
I gotta go with FDS here. I listen to electronica a lot and women dont mind listening to it in my car since I have the sound system. Unless you're listening to metal or the sounds of pigs bumping uglies 24/7 I don't see why you need a special playlist.
Mal
Just play this to break the ice. It'll be a conversation starter. Plus its country.
madbassman39
I made this playlist when I was away for a summer and my girlfriend came up to visit me: Closer (Nine Inch Nails) Disco Stick (Lady Gaga) The Bad Touch (The blood Hound Gang) Lollipop (Lil Wayne) I'd Rather (Three Six Mafia) Fuck Her Gently (Tenacious D) Touchin On My (3OH!3) Rape Me (Nirvana) Lets just say, it set the mood for the entire weekend.
Saturnine Tenshi
I usually use K-pop. YEAH! No, but I just throw my playlist on random.
Waldorf and Statler
I'm sure Gangnam style is great for an O O O Op Open Gangbang Style.
TheRevanchist
Man, what the hell. What you really need is to just put on the blues channel. You can romance and do it with rhythm. Plus, the music doesn't become the topic of conversation during or during intermission or during again or during intermission again or during...etc.
Chewblaha
Well I'm 90% sure a woman wouldn't want to hear only Iron Maiden blaring from my car. Nor would she enjoy a lengthy explanation about where the songs come from ( ) or why they were written in the first place. I simply took good music that I enjoy and made a playlist that I know I will love as well as having an 83% chance that the opposite sex would enjoy as well. Waldorf and Statler
I just noticed your avatar was the "Assman" one. Makes this topic all the much better.
Eleven
I'm curious why there is a lack of current alternative music in there. Or in our other music threads. I feel uncool listening to current alternative On topic, I have a similar separate playlist named "Public". It's for when other people are listening. Because I don't know anyone who listens to new alternative stuff as much as I do. So this playlist usually contains my radio friendly songs that still happen to be cool, IMO. Thursday Next
What is current alternative? You've probably never heard of it.
Eleven
Bands like Silversun Pickups, Two Door Cinema Club or A Silent Film, as well as hipstery-ish bands (or at least they used to be!) like MGMT or The Black Keys or Passion Pit (yesilikethemsowhat!lol). They usually have only 2-3 albums out as of now and they're the ones you hear on alternative radio stations. But looking at that list by chewie, it has Incubus' song from their first album, not to mention The Clash and the Rollingstones song. I admit though I'm not very familiar with those bands, and I thought/assumed that Bush song was old (it wasn't!). I think the oldest band in my library is The Cure. And they're the only band in there that was before 1998. I don't listen to "the classics" at all... And I'm older than you guys are! The only one I know I've seen post familiar music was Sporkwaffles and Johnny. Back on topic though: I approve of Summer Romance. Not that it's a favorite of mine, but they sure like that song. Saturnine Tenshi
Ah, well, I don't mind alternative. Just not hip to the current stuff.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Does anyone else find this a bit sexist? You act like all women have the same taste. They don't. If your taste in music is so bad that it would drive women away from you then you should probably re-consider what you listen to. I listen to plenty of obscure, brutal, unpleasant for most people sort of shit, and it's never driven women away from me. I think in general the rules of "don't annoy someone with your music" apply to everyone and not just women. Just play something appropriate even if they don't know it. If they're into you then they won't care about the music much to begin with.
Saturnine Tenshi
I thought it was, but I'm pretty bitter.

You'd think a thread with the subtitle of "A field I have a 0% success rate in" wouldn't be taken so seriously. Got dang. You see a list of songs that wouldn't be abrasive to anyone doesn't just mean "only for women." It also could have the title "work" or "not Iron Maiden." excel_excel
if these songs don't help me get more sexy times, so help me God Chewy. SO HELP ME GOD.
Chewblaha
if these songs don't help me get more sexy times, so help me God Chewy. SO HELP ME GOD. Well if it succeeds, change the subtitle to 0.1%.
Thursday Next
To be honest, the title of the thread is somewhat predatory. Sounds like a pickup artist thing. But then juxtaposed with the success rate, it's clearly tongue in cheek and could just as easily have been "Chewies universally inoffensive playlist". Which is how I chose to read it.
