The Walking Dead: 400 Days.

It's more of the same so I can't really complain. Some of the chapters were a bit short but it says a lot about the quality of the writing that they still managed to make me care about the characters. Anyone knows if these guys supposed to be random people or the actual cast of season 2?

I don't know if they're the actual main cast but I have read that the outcome of the DLC affects whether or not certain characters appear in Season 2.  Again, don't know if that means it changes whether certain main characters appear or if it's just referring to side characters.

I can think of a few instances where I wanted to go back and replay an episode to do it differently. Then reading online I found out that no matter what choice you made the result was pretty much the same. Maybe some small details vary, but it's never anything major as far as I'm aware.

Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare in North Point DLC.

Eh, it's alright, I guess. Starts out pretty fun but the combat against the new enemies gets old real fast. By the time I made it to the end, I was thankful for it to be over. The story isn't that great either. Oh and the final boss fight is just a succession of three shitty fights you have to go through, twice. Might be worth a buck or two if you're aching for more Sleeping Dogs but otherwise I wouldn't really recommend it.

Heavy Rain. I thought it was pretty good for what it was. Better than Indigo Prophecy at any rate. The story had some loose ends that never really got tied up, but I still enjoyed looking for the killer. I did manage to figure out who the killer was before the game told me though. Still, it was a shocking development.

Overall I liked it. However I did have some problems. Mechanically it felt like a full fledged Assassin's Creed. Sure there was no villa/homestead/boat to upgrade, or assassins to recruit but combat, overworld and mission structure was nailed completely. Though to be fair the missions were all pretty short, that probably worked out well for a handheld game. It was on the short side, those last few sequences felt like they only had one or two missions each. The game also had some technical issues... the game was plagued by glitches and everything felt very unpolished, it's too bad they didn't give it another 6 months and release it this summer instead of last winter (but Sony probably pushed for a holiday release).
While they nailed a lot of bringing the real Assassin's Creed to a handheld, my biggest grievances wasn't on the mechanical and technical aspects of the game, it was the story. Assassin's Creed 2 spent most of the game setting up Ezio becoming an assassin, it was a revenge story, seeing him seek out the people who framed his family. Assassin's Creed 3 spent half the game setting up Connor's father, even spent a sequence on his childhood and showed him joining the brotherhood. This game though, didn't properly introduce anyone, set up any motivations, or have an interesting plot. It just kind of... was. Which is too bad because that's the one area the game wouldn't have been held back by hardware limitations.

They kind of fucked the story over since before the game was made since it was made clear that in a way, it's non-canon. Well, its not, its a computer simulation, but it might as well be.

And yeah, it needed a few more months in the oven to improve the graphics, but overall having a real AC game on a portable is quite an achievement. I never felt it was gimped in any way like most home console to portable titles.

And overall, it looked pretty good considering the scope or other games in the system. I think our standards are set on Uncharted or Gravity Rush, when those are clearly the exception. Kind of like on the PS3.

I just think it's too bad, how often do we get a black female lead in a game? Especially one as cool as Aveline? The character deserved better development, backstory, and quest than she got. It's a shame.

Also: does anyone know how to play as Connor in Liberation? Supposedly you can either replay the mission they had together as Connor, or there's a totally unique mission you can play as either of them (I was never clear) if you have both games.

It's not any more a computer simulation than any of the other games have been.  You're just not reliving one of Desmond's ancestor's memories.

Beat Kingdoms of Amalur, 89 hours sigh... if you haven't heard it before do yourself a favour and skip sidequests, some of them are rather grindy and if you end up doing 90% of them like I did you'll end up being overleveled for the story content which can turn the story quests into a chore as well.

Overall I quite enjoyed the game. I really loved the Fae sections of the game as they felt rather unique/developed.  I guess you could write them off as basically elves/dryads mashed together but, their lore/story felt rather engaging... especially compared to the other races.

The Teeth of Narroes DLC was rather enjoyable as well and the content seemed to scale with your level making it actually kind of a challenge... it did overlevel me though so I would suggest avoiding it until later in the game.  Dead Kel was pretty boring, though only real highlights being Captain Brattigan and the house you can get from it.

Ending was pretty anti-climatic, predictable and beating the boss wasn't very satisfying.  Glad to finally wrap it up though and hopefully get some actual work done on the backlog.

I'm currently 62 hours into Amalur, and just finished the Teeth of Narros like 2 minutes ago.  Was planning to do Kel next.  As far as the main story game goes I've finished the first continent and am getting ready to cross the ocean.

It wouldn't be nearly as long if you didn't do all the sidequests like I have been.  The only quests I haven't been doing are the mage and rogue faction quests.

But yeah, I could definitely see someone feeling like there was just too much of it.

Dust: An Elysian Tail.

Wow, that was pretty fucking good. Probably my best purchase of the entire summer sale. I expected it to be kinda short but it has a solid 10-12 hours story. Took me more like 20, though, because I wasted so much time backtracking every single time I got a new ability, looking for treasures and secrets I couldn't reach before.

The game looks amazing, too. The big character sprites that show up during conversations are kind of ugly but the level backgrounds and enemy designs are beautiful.
