This game is awesome. Crazy awesome. The president beats Cole in climbing buildings.

(I'm also watching The Flash (season one!) right now so I'm really finding the super sprint super cool)

Although does anyone know if you can dress up your crew? I mean, there's a set of super hero costumes I got from the DLCs and I don't want to be the only one wearing tights.

WTF!

This is the first time I've ever hit a game-breaking bug! I don't think this has ever happened to me before... My homies are all unavailable (even though they aren't really), and I can't trigger any more missions to progress the story.

I was having so much fun... :(

Edit: Managed to fix it. In case anyone encountered the same issue: https://steamcommunity.com/app/206420/discussions/0/630799997652926872/

Gat Out of Hell is depressing. The only good thing about the game is the addition of the flight mechanics. Although I would say that gliding around and running up buildings in Steelport in SR4 is still much more fun. Sure, everyone knows its a glorified DLC, but they could have done so much more, or at least a proportional amount of effort based on the size/scope of the game.

I guess I could also mention the Saints Row humor as a good thing (if you're playing the series you must like it to some degree), the main quest line for IV had plenty of that, that was fun. This game though, it doesn't really have a main quest line, so you don't get any of that. All you get following the main quest line is a few lines of intro and then it sends you to unrelated mini games (the usual fraud, mayhem, etc). Those are fun as diversions go, but not as a replacement to actual story missions. I did watch the YouTube cutscene compilation (I love that people do this for every game nowadays), and what they had at the later part of the game seemed on point, but I don't want to sit and wade through all the crap to get there.

As for playable characters, there's no customization options at all. You could choose Gat or Kinzie, but that's it. This really hurts the game IMO, and takes away a lot of the fun. Plus, I never really cared much about Gat. I think he's pretty cool as a side character, but I found out that I didn't really want to play as him. And I don't like Kinzie at all (plus she's kind of out of character in this game, probably just added so you still have the option of a female protagonist, like in previous games).

And personally, since this may be the end of the current Saints Row canon (with 5 being rumored to be reboot), I didn't like that the fate of the Saints depended on Johnny, and not The Boss. What happened? Well, you should play the gamewatch the endings on YouTube to find out.

How The Saints Saved Christmas DLC for SR4 is a lot more entertaining than this game. That'll take only about 2-3 hours of your time. You should go play it now while it's still Christmas to get the full effect!

I love Saints Row IV. It's good fun. The Re-elected version with all the DLCs is probably the best version to buy since it has all the DLCs.

If you're new to the series, well, this game is an open world game with super powers. This entry is kind of different than the others before it, since the upped the craziness here and made the game a parody of other video games (even more than before). You'll appreciate the humor there if you're familiar with those other games (like Mass Effect for example). And it's a lot of fun using your super powers. I feel like they nailed it on how it should  feel to have super powers, it feels good to use them and you have a clear advantage over enemies (like how it should be, you have super powers!), unlike other super hero games.

The story though has a lot of references to older games in the series. So you may not be able to completely appreciate what's up with your crew. Take Shaundi or Benjamin King for example. Their stories heavily rely on your knowledge of the older games. I played SR2, so I get what Shaundi's problem is, but Benjamin King's issues were SR1 related, and I had no clue what happened then so I kind of didn't relate to him at all. So you might miss out on those things. Having said that, it's not really hard to follow any of it.

It's not the best game to jump into the series, but it's a good game. I'd say if you at least played SR3, then go get it. If you're new, it'll come down to how you like the super powers and Saints Row's humor.

I loved SR3, but did not care for SR4.  I just found it boring, and it couldn't hold my interest.  I think part of that was the superpowers being just a step too far and part was what they did to the style of the world you're in.
