Mal
I'm still wondering if I can see them live... maybe my work will allow me to work down in LA for the weeks between the concert date (August 17th). That or I take time off to go to NYC in early September. I could use it to see Demons & Wizards and do some other stuff like see family. The pain here is getting timely air tickets. Mal
Caught my interest because of the guest singer. You can instantly pick up that she natively speaks Cantonese. It was actually a bit hard to initially pick out the language she was speaking but her intonation is unmistakably Cantonese. Anyhow, love the song. As far as Chthonic goes, it's like one of those slower Sabaton songs that I adore so much. Additionally, this song is basically an acoustic version of this... Or maybe a continuation of this (if the subject matter of the videos are anything to go by): Anyhow, I still don't know how I feel about Chthonic. Their composition and such is amazing as shown in the acoustic version. I'm fine with the growl but not so much the singer's... Screeching. I can only listen to Chthonic for so long. toxicitizen
Seeing them live tonight, can't wait!!! I don't think I've ever seen any fantasy power metal bands like this live, so I'm not sure what to expect. Then again, I can't really think of another one I'd actually want to see live. I mean, singing about magic swords and dragons is kinda meh but singing about Chaos Wizards in SPACE: 1992 is another thing entirely! update: It was fucking dope! Not enough bands sing about hammers and the sounds they make when swung in space. Edited June 6, 2019 by FLD

Mal
It's basically impossible for Sabaton to not play The Price of a Mile (I argue it's one of their best songs) if they play Great War when they are live. Maybe not back to back but Great War literally name drops The Price of a Mile. Same deal with Passchendaele for both songs. This sort of thing has been happening for a bit already but with the Great War album, it's impossible to avoid calling back to previous songs. One great cover of: Or you could change the lyrics...
toxicitizen
I've been listening to entirely too much GloryHammer for the past month (which might become its own lengthy post if I get around to it because whew!), so in an effort to not get completely burnt out on it I've been looking for other similarly non-shit power metal bands. And I think I found the next best thing? So there's this band called Beast in Black that makes synth-infused heavy metal inspired by bands like Judas Priest and whatnot. Good shit, but it gets better. See, they have another non-musical but very obvious inspiration. A little known Japanese manga that- well just look at the fucking art in these videos and it should be pretty damn obvious. Yeah, I like Alestorm and I've been digging deeper into their stuff recently. It always seemed like this fun but silly pirate thing with a few fun drinking songs but turns out they actually have some serious bangers. GloryHammer, though, is just the right kind of stupid that speaks directly to my idiot brain. I can't help but love everything about it. I'm heavily invested in the tale of Angus McFife at this point lol. Those videos you posted are something else, though...

deanb
I don't think we actually have a single Christopher in my family tree.
MetalCaveman
Shame that the weightlifting anime is a Funi exclusive, not available where I live. Was looking forward to it.
toxicitizen
Also, I'm really digging Grailknights and Wind Rose! I guess the easiest way to find cool new metal bands is to pay attention to what @MetalCaveman posts in here.

Mal
Metalcaveman has great taste. He introduced me to one of my favorite bands. Hmm, might seem similar to an image somewhere here...
toxicitizen
Been listening to this one daily for like two weeks at this point, never has a band had better lore lol. I mean, how could you possibly top "You know that part in Infinity War when Thor arrives in Wakanda and it's basically the most awesome thing ever? Yeah, this track has that too." It also led to this wonderful shitpost.
