TheMightyEthan
Oh, see, I think no matter where they go with Ward it's going to be ridiculous. I don't want him to be evil, but having him be a double double agent is dumb too. They kinda painted themselves into a corner with that. I know almost nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy. Is it pretty much given that it won't tie into Earth events at all? At least not directly?
TCP
Well with the current Guardians comic there's been an effort to better tie it into the Marvel Universe, Tony Stark joined the team and apparently Venom has joined now (wtf?). Though the 2008 GotG run (which is fantastic and I encourage reading) didn't really have much to do with Earth. As for this movie though, it looks like they're very far away from Earth. And given the reaction Peter Quill had in the trailer when someone stole his walkman (and given the fact that it WAS a walkman), looks like he hasn't been to Earth in a long time (what I'm trying to say is the walkman is one of his only connections to Earth). Originally he was an astronaut but that's sort of out of character for the more modern interpretation of him, and especially now that he's Andy Dwyer so I imagine the reason he's in space is due to the fact that his father is an alien. So they could tie early parts of season 2 AoS into GotG but it would be hard to have it as direct as The Winter Soldier. Who knows, Coulson's blue friend could very well be GotG related, especially if it is indeed a Kree, who are human-like aliens the Guardians often encounter. But there definitely won't be any SHIELD, and I doubt anyone in space know of Iron Man, The Hulk, or Captain America. Asgardians could pop up or be mentioned, that might be a good way to have it connect obviously to the MCU, well that, and Thanos.
TheMightyEthan
That's what I figured, that any connection would be indirect through the Asgardians and the infinity stones.
TheMightyEthan
I'm okay with the direction they're taking with Ward after this episode. I'm dreading the inevitable end of season cliffhanger though.
TCP
Yeah glad they're not backtracking and making him a double agent for SHIELD. He was always so unlikable, he's good as a villain.
TCP
Agents of SHIELD has been renewed for season 2, which is good because that second half of this season was just plain good. Agent Carter got picked up for a season as well, if you haven't seen the Agent Carter One Shot yet, I suggest watching it, as it was pretty much a backdoor pilot. Carter (dem boobs, yo!), Howart Stark, Dum Dum Dugan, all (hopefully) returning is exciting for me, plus I'm assuming there'd be some tie in with Agent Triplett's grandfather. They could also do the obvious and hire a SLJ-esque actor to portray a young Nick Fury, then somewhere along the lines give him a similar super soldier serum that slows down his aging in the comics. TheMightyEthan
Agent Carter is going straight to Netflix, right? No TV broadcast?
TCP
No it's ABC. Netflix will be Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and then a Defenders miniseries.
