In example, someone doesn't want to watch the Daredevil Netflix series because "Daredevil sucks" based on the atrocious film many years ago. "But it's still Daredevil, and he sucks." It's not the same actor, not the same writers, not even the same studio, but "it sucks."

There's an exception to this rule. Superman always sucks.

There's also this:

I highly recommend the Umbara arc. It's a good idea to build up a relationship with the Clonestroopers first but it should be able to stand on its own.

And now that I look at it, add in Cad Bane to the Han Solo movie along with Hondo Ohnaka.

Dual-bladed lightsabers turning into helicopters is embarrassing and I don't blame anyone for thinking little of Rebels because of it. If they were used to slow one's descent, cool. Actually flying though is ridiculous and whoever brainstormed that idea should be ashamed.

Season 2 finale of Rebels addressed this sore point quite nicely. It was a nice send off for the idea.

Recently released deleted scene from the Mortis arc with Revan and Bane shown as influencing The Son. Lucas vetoed it though since in his mind only those from the light side can live after death. Though we are shown here that Qui Gin Jon can appear due to Mortis very strong force connection so could possibly suggest that's what's at play. Though personally I think it kinda works better that The Son is working on his own, since he represents the dark side. Be weird to have it that he's pushing Anakin toward becoming Vader at the behest of Bane and Revans force ghosts.

I took my girlfriend to see Rogue One this weekend and after seeing it a second time I have to say its a really good movie. I don't know how I feel about future spin off movies as far as Han Solo or a Boba Fett solo films, but part of the reason this was so good was the cause felt monumental. It really sets up how terrifying and huge the Empire is and the shadow that it cast across the galaxy. It was something eluded to in the original trilogy but you only saw the effect as it was shown through the eyes of our titular main characters.

Rogue One was a fun movie, if only instead of "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away..." it started with "Meanwhile, in a galaxy far far away..."

Young Han Solo as a concept is kinda "meh". Young Han Solo as a film with the current IMDB listing however is quite oooh.

edit:
Directors: Lord & Miller (of Lego Movie, Jump Street, Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs)
Writer: Jon & Lawrence Kasdan (of the good Star Wars films)
Alden Ehrenreich as Solo
Woody Harrelson as his mentor
Donald Glover as Lando
Emelia Clarke as something.

I'm a few episodes behind.Thanks Dean.

In all seriousness, that fight only was going to go one way. Obi-Wan is going to be on Tatooine to watch over Luke so he will be be going anywhere and it would be odd for Maul to just abandon that fight. I wonder how's Ezra going to shape up now that Maul's gone.

It's amusing, you've got all the exploits of Rogue One but this is pretty much the money shot. I like that Gareth Edwards has managed to kind of retcon himself into a film that's not much younger than he is :P Actually reminds me of a convo I'd had with siblings a few weeks ago (I had posted to twitter but can add more here).

We're at a ..leisure complex(bowling alley, restaurants, cinema etc) and there's posters for upcoming films including "Paddington 2". Younger brother asks why there's another Paddington and I say the first must have done well enough to get a sequel. "What's a sequel". "Well it's a film that comes after the first one. You can have prequels too that come before the first one". "Like Monsters University?" "Yes". "What about Rogue One?"

Anywho fun fact on the above: Peter Jackson is somewhere off to the side watching them film this shoot. (Gareth Edwards is a big Peter Jackson fan and heard his was in town. His people contacted Jacksons people to little response. On day of shooting this Gareth emailed Jackson directly "we're shooting Darth Vader scene"

So dat Rebels finale eh?

Spoiler

No idea why Kanaan would ever assume that a being that's explicitly told him time and time again he's the balance of Light and Dark would be all lovey dovey n Jedi-like.

Also hooray for Callus joining Phoenix squadron. He's pretty much fucked for any missions though. Was like "oh shit they gonna kill Thrawn? But he's such a good bad guy" and thankfully they didn't. But certainly a bit of a win by the rebels. And seems we're heading off to Yavin-4 so I imagine we'll see it slowly start to line up with Rogue One.

I imagine Mandalore will play a bigger part in the next series. Just hope they don't scattershot it all over the place again.

Anyway, just seen a theory that Liea is racist against wookies and it does kinda line up. She snubs him for a medal,, she calls him a "walking carpet", in lambasting Han she says she'd "sooner kiss a wookie" and it seems Chewie has noticed it too as he pretty much ignores her after Hans death seemingly no longer needing to keep up appearances of hanging out with his BFFs ex.

I'm assuming not CGI like Tarkin and young Leia. With current footage, they could do something like what was done for Oliver Reed in the Gladiator. The issues, which to me is just a few, with Oliver Reed's CGI should be solvable with 17 years worth of tech advancements. At the very least the face should not trigger the uncanny valley effect while having some flexibility in the footage that they do have.

Of course it could means really no CGI in which case I'm intrigued.

I guess if we assume that having killed off one of the original guys their plan might be to (apart from Luke I guess) phase out these characters so she might just end up in some kind of "over the holographic battle table" role like Mon Mothma style in which case they've likely a bunch of footage like that already just in the course of shooting the film. The last shot of Tarkin in New Hope is just him stroking his chin, and that could have been shot at any time then cut in for dramatic effect. I maintain that the editor is the pivotal role of making or breaking a film and they can do a lot of magic on the edit table.
