Isn't Darth Revan from KotOR?

Ā

Exactly!Ā  But, look at that armor (or is it a droid)?Ā  I think it's armor, very similar in look to Revan's armor, covering in head-to-toe.Ā  Revan's armor was in the style of Mando armor, which the pic above is hard to tell because of how grainy the pic looks.

Ā

I'm easily excitable about KoTOR, so bare with me while I do the dance of joy, even though this probably has nothing to do with it.

Of what I've read and seen (and I swear I've seen that lightsaber somewhere before), the only rationale I could see for that design is having a guard against other lightsabers. Thing is, I don't believe there would ever be a need for a guard with the lightsaber dueling I've seen, unless there's some "Form" I don't know of.

Ā

Otherwise, you've built your lightsaber incorrectly if it's unstable. Not to mention you should probably be dead at some point.

I have hated the sith lightsabers since Episode 1. Darth Maul had to have a double lightsaber because its twice as evil!! At least you could argue that he used it to fight multiple Jedi at once and had a plot reason to be that way. Darth Tyrannus' lightsaber was curved because it was the classic lightsaber style. Ultimately they want to make the villain's lightsabers look more evil and thats it. What was wrong with just a classic style lightsaber? Vader had one and he was the best villain in the entire series.

The only lightsaber I dislike (so far) is the one used by The Inquisitor from Star Wars Rebels. He's basically another Sith, but he has the most gimmicky lightsaber I've seen. At first it wasn't bad; looked like a rapier. Then he had two blades... so Darth Maul Lite? Oh, but get this, it spins!

And my little bro wants one for xmas, so I guess it's job done.

Unstable lightsaber would make sense, bear in mind so far most force users have been wiped out by end of Episode VI, leaving pretty much just Luke as the lone known Jedi. No doubt they'll say there's others in hiding (as was a bit of plot for Force Unleashed, and also the fact Yoda and Obi-Wan lived in exile so long they can't be the only ones). But it does mean that most other folks wanting to make a lightsaber will be learning mostly on their own or from old texts (of which many have been purged).

Ā

Also @Ethan: Yeah they all make their own lightsaers as a right of passage and each has its own form and use. Lukes for example has a few extra bits to it that can reduce the output & length. There's also more obvious differences like the colours. Such as most synthetic crystals used by Sith being red (and also generally considered to be slightly stronger too). The idea of it being a guard is kinda silly though since, both as noted Atom there's never been a need for one before, and on top of that there's lightsaber resistant materials which'd make for a much safer guard. The mini-lightsabers do look like flares almost (they've a sort of fire-ey type quality to them rather than being solid n straight) so I'd say that lends credence to a sort of discharge of sorts.

Anywho, we ended up watching it 3 times in a row yesterda.y The Millenium Falcon (or "spaceship" as housemate not fussed for Star Wars called it) cinched it.
