TheMightyEthan
I've actually been playing on PC primarily for the last couple years, but 99% of the games I play are also on console, and the ones that aren't I can take or leave. Actually, looking back at the games I've beat in 2018, 2019, and 2020 (so far), and only 3 are PC exclusive. They were all good games, but they're not worth maintaining a gaming PC for. TheMightyEthan
So I just learned yesterday that apparently in Uncharted when the screen is turning red it's not to indicate that Drake is getting shot and taking damage, it's to indicate that his luck is running out and he's about to get shot. That completely solves the problem with him being almost completely immune to bullets. It's genius, and I don't know why they didn't make it clear that that's what's happening. That sounds really cool, so much so that I wonder if they didn't retroactively came up with it, they could have done a much MUCH better job at making it clear. Where did you even hear that? I had no idea either lol. I love it because it's how I always interpret those kinds of mechanics in shooters. For example, I've always viewed regenerating health in something like Call of Duty as getting shot while wearing bulletproof gear rather than the Wolverine-like healing people would often complain about. ------ Oh and while I'm here, today was the day. Mister Jack
I've actually heard the same thing about Drake but it was so long ago I couldn't give you a source on that anymore.
TheMightyEthan
I heard it on the Kinda Funny Games podcast, but here's a link to a Polygon story about it: https://www.polygon.com/2018/7/9/17548666/uncharted-nathan-drake-bullet-damage-luck
deanb
Yeah I'd heard it. It's err...a bit bollocks/retroactive but a neat hand wave for why you are somewhat bullet dodging. But guess works a bit like Brett
toxicitizen
So since yesterday there's been very strong rumors that a Bloodborne PS5 remaster is coming and will include a PC release. Bullshit Bloodborne PC rumors have been making the rounds for years but this time it's being corroborated by a few insiders with good track records. Seems it was meant to be revealed at the now postponed PS5 event yesterday, so it shouldn't be too long until we find out if it's true. Normally I'd be skeptical as hell, but with Horizon coming all bets are off. A lot of people have been hinting that more was coming and, with From's following, Bloodborne is a prime candidate for a PC release. Also, I knew a PC release was inevitable the minute I decided to bite the bullet and suffer through playing it on PSNow. So yeah, you're all welcome.
toxicitizen
I refuse to get my hopes up. Realistic prediction: it's just going to be Persona 5 Scramble, that Koei Tecmo/Omega Force musou.
TheMightyEthan
Bah, I want to get my hopes up but you are dragging them down into the muck of reality. I think it's Persona 6, and will be a simultaneous PC and PS5 launch.
Mister Jack
Come ooon Persona 4 Golden port! @TheMightyEthan There's no way they're announcing Persona 6 this early. They just put out P5R a little while ago and these games take yeeeeears to come out. Edited June 9, 2020 by Mister Jack

I don't know if you've seen my post in the Falcom thread a few weeks ago about Durante teasing things he knows are coming in the next few years. Well, on the same forum where he mentioned that, he's been conspicuously liking posts mentioning Persona (I know for a fact he's not really a fan of the series), so you could read into that if you wanted to be optimistic. 2 hours ago, Mister Jack said: Come ooon Persona 4 Golden port! @TheMightyEthan There's no way they're announcing Persona 6 this early. I would double dip P4G in a heartbeat, though. I think it's literally the last game justifying my Vita's existence at this point. And yeah, no way it's P6. Not when they can still milk P5 with a few more years of spin-offs.
Mal
I'm telling you, Persona is like the only big JRPG fish left for PC. That and the related Shin Megami Tensei series. If they are going to do this, they will mention that it's for P4G, P5R and future titles. This handily covers the ~3 years time frame Durante mentioned. Similar deal with SMT if that's coming over as well. Might make it more crowded so I'm going with a no here but if Persona comes over, it seems to be only a matter of time for SMT. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I know it's not P6, that was my attempt at being completely ridiculous in my optimism. I will totally jump on the P4G bandwagon though.
toxicitizen
It's Atlus and PC we're talking about here. Even the most sensible expectation (like, say, Persona 5 Royal coming to PC) is completely ridiculous optimism lol. Honestly, this looks like they MIGHT finally be getting their heads out of their asses about releasing on PC (thank god Catherine Classic sold well enough) and if that's really the case then I think P5 is basically guaranteed to come sooner or later. But knowing Atlus and how backwards they can be about, well... everything, the only thing I'm allowing myself to hope for from this event is P4G and Catherine: Full Body. And if and when P5 does come, I half expect some Persona 5 Classic bullshit because Atlus gonna Atlus lol.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, didn't Catherine Classic release on PC about the same time Full Body released on console?
toxicitizen
Yeah lol. Also, P4G rumors are intensifying. As far as I'm aware, Ahmad has a decent track record for these things. I saw something about P3 as well but that's coming from someone else who I'm not familiar with that people are saying isn't reliable. If P3 is also happening though, I fucking hope it's not gonna be the Portable version because that would be a huge bummer. If they're not compiling a new definitive edition that includes the extra Portable content while restoring the original presentation, then I honestly would rather just they port P3 FES. Mister Jack
If they do P3 it needs to be more than a mere port. Portable, despite the downgrade, still ended up being the best version to play just because your can actually control your damn party members. We can't go back to the days of MARIN FUCKING KARIN in 2020.
toxicitizen
Oh god, I was only thinking about the extra content. I completely forgot that you can't control your party members in P3 lmao. I'd still take FES over Portable but yeah, P3 is in DIRE need of a new, definitive version.
toxicitizen
Okay at this point P4G is essentially confirmed. People have found the game's logo hosted on the Steam servers as well as, I shit you not, the game's Denuvo support page. Putting Denuvo in an 8 year old game sure sounds like Atlus. That alone would've convinced me lol. Let's fucking goooo! Edited June 9, 2020 by FLD
toxicitizen
Someone pushed a button a little early! Woops! Mal
I'm in firm agreement. Without Dark Souls taking that leap, we would never have seen this day or a lot of other days such as: Sure two out of the eight (then out of nine then ten...) are fan translations but they would never had gotten off the ground without the other games coming in. Now if only all ports can have dedicated teams and individuals behind them. And hey hey hey, Durante's port report: https://www.ign.com/articles/persona-4-golden-pc-port-analysis Edited June 13, 2020 by Mal
TheMightyEthan
God damn, playing two console games back to back has me questioning why I ever switched back to PC as my primary platform. The ability to simply put the console to sleep in the middle of gameplay, without having to either lose progress or keep going until you get to a place you can save, is worth all the graphical bells and whistles and mods and anything else PC gaming offers. That's not even mentioning the fact that it saves me the headache of messing with technical stuff. I feel like TLoU2 perfectly exemplifies this, despite actually being a console game, because it allows you to adjust both brightness and contrast, instead of just brightness, and I spent a frankly ridiculous amount of time playing with those settings trying to get it to look just on my HDR TV. It was the exact same experience as messing with stuff on PC, where each adjustment makes only a tiny tiny difference, but because I could in theory get it perfectly optimized I feel compelled to keep messing with it until I do. I thought I had it where I was happy with, but even just writing this right now has me going "well, but maybe I could turn contrast up one more notch..." If it had just been brightness like every other console game I would have messed with it once to get it where I wanted it, and then completely forgotten about it for the rest of my time playing it. TheMightyEthan
Okay, but you still have to leave the game and PC running. I'm not talking about just switching to another program, I'm talking about "oh, it's time to quit playing for the night".
