Couple of announcements from XSEED

First, Xanadu Next finally has a release date for Steam! November 3rd and price will be 19.99$.

Really stoked for this one. It's an older PC game but more Falcom on Steam is always a good thing and this one sounds pretty damn good. I was sold the moment Tom from XSEED described it as Diablo meets metroidvania.

Next, Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit is also releasing on Steam on November 10th. This is that weird cooking rhythm game that was released digital-only on Vita. 29.99$ and it includes all the DLC.  I skipped this one on Vita, so I was really hoping they would port it next and not skip straight to Estival Versus.

Guess Link may not be the only character people complain isn't voiced soon.

Most games I wouldn't care if they used a sat nav style voice synthesiser, tbh. I just want to know what I have to do next and it wouldn't be worse than half the acting jobs out there.

eh, voice acting isn't exactly easy in the long run, and if they fuck up their voice they're just as out of work as if you're a labourer and unnecessary strain fucks up your back.

Given what we know of the video game industry and the fact that it's purely video game VA going on strike and not other VAs I'd guess the strike is deserved. Given the slowly encroaching cinematics of games it's not really a case of recording "finish him" and "godlike" anymore. video game guys likely wanting similar rates as hollywood pays, which given quite a few games out-gross even top hollywood releases it makes sense.

Pretty much, yeah. Dismissing their position on the grounds that voice acting is "easy work" just shows a complete ignorance of what that work actually entails, to the point where maybe that person shouldn't be commenting on the situation at all. Much like localization is more complex than just "rewrite the text in a different language", voice acting is more demanding than just "read the lines into the microphone once".

A neat thing to come from it is a neat list of all the upcoming games that are being err striked(?). Wooh, Blood Dragon! Also "Crash Bandicoot Remaster Project". Though there's sooo many code names :P. Best is EA making "Timbits" :P

Nope. Not getting my hopes up for a new Blood Dragon. There are a bunch of already released games on the list (TF2, Shadowrun: HK, etc.), so it could easily be the old one. Then again, it would be kinda weird to do that Trials crossover if they don't have something else planned for the IP. :unsure2:

Damn it...

Maybe a new Bioware RPG? Going off the Timbits name. Though I'm not sure what else EA has for Canadian studios these days. I know EA Burnaby is mostly sports titles....

Danganronpa Another Episode, that weird third-person shooter spin-off, is coming to Steam in 2017.

They announced a PS4 port earlier today so I figured we'd get a Steam announcement in the evening. Same thing happened with the Zero Escape games. Likely due to Spike Chunsoft self-publishing on Steam, so NISA just announce the console version and we have to wait for Japan to wake up and confirm PC as well. I imagine they'll be confirming New Danganronpa V3 as well before long.

With Zero Escape, Danganronpa and even fucking Conception II being either announced or released on Steam all within a single year, I think that officially makes Spike Chunsoft the fastest Japanese company to go all-in on Steam. Even Square-Enix took like 4 years to release most of the Final Fantasy games. It's kind of hilarious (and sad) that a huge company like SEGA can't even manage a single port a year but smaller companies like Spike Chunsoft, Idea Factory/Compile Heart and Nippon Ichi can manage to release a port every few months.

On that same site as Dean's boardgame motivations survey is one for videogames, here are my results:  https://goo.gl/gPz2Dd

I'm Action-Oriented, Analytical, Gregarious, and Deeply Immersed.  At first I was confused why it said I'm gregarious, because I don't like multiplayer, and then I realized it's because I told it I like working with other players (which I do), I just don't like playing against other players.  I think that's why Destiny kept me hooked for so long, there was so much cooperative multiplayer stuff available.

Here's mine: https://goo.gl/OPd6WO

It says I'm Action-Oriented, Proficient, Independent, Deeply Immersed, and Creative. I guess that's because I like just about every variation of general game style and play except MP, including cooperative MP. I also don't like or dislike cheevos or becoming the best at a given game and the survey didn't capture the fact that I don't have time to master a lot of gameplay types that focus on muscle memory and repetition.

MINE

Spontaneous, Relaxed, Independent, Deeply Immersed, and Expressive

A real shame my 'challenge' level is in the gutter. I'm just not remotely interested in having to work hard for something in a video game, this is likely why I bounce off of Destiny when the going gets grindy.

Grind and challenge aren't the same thing. Challenge is a thing requiring skill to do. Grind is having to do the same thing over and over.

My ideal level of challenge is being /just barely/ able to do a thing on my first or second try, so it doesn't feel too easy but I also don't have to keep retrying over and over.

That's pretty cool.

And pretty accurate for me. I don't like planning and thinking too much at all! My strategy when I used to play strategy games was always amass huge number of close combat units, some long range units, attack. Pretty much works all the time anyway.

I don't care about mastering games, but I do like achievements though, and as the description says, even if I have to grind for it. I just did that with AC Syndicate's "Without a grudge" trophy. It was the dumbest achievement trophy ever. A grind for absolutely no reason.

I'm Calm, Spontaneous, Relaxed, Independent, and Grounded. I feel like spontaneous seems a little out of place there and I'm surprised it doesn't say creative since that's basically the only point on the graph.
