Mister Jack
There we go. I still have to wonder why people are suddenly dick riding the Wii U after the release of the PS4 and Xbone. Is it because the launch lineups aren't that good? Is that why people want a Wii U instead? That fucker's been out for a year now and I can STILL count the number of interesting games on it on one hand. Obviously the Xbone and PS4 games are going to get better. After being burned once on the Wii, I honestly can't say for sure that the same will happen for the Wii U.
Saturnine Tenshi
I'm pretty sure the video was tongue-in-cheek. All of their reviewsicals are.
Mister Jack
I know but it brings up the point that there are a lot of people saying that the Wii U is a better buy than a PS4 or an Xbone and that's just bollocks.
Mal
I see it as a better buy if you have a PC and either the PS4 or the X1. I can't see myself or someone like myself getting both the PS4 or the X1. They're too similar. But yes. If it is between all three it will be no contest. Wii U loses by a wide margin. CorgiShinobi
I don't see tons of people jumping towards the Wii U. If anything, it would be because there are established games that are interesting and worth your time whereas the launch lineup for the next-gen has gone dry. If you already have one of the new consoles, is there any other games you wanted this year that weren't already available on another platform (not to mention cheaper)? If you watched Zero Punctuation this week, another view you could have is how Yahtzee (Ben Croshaw) explained that at least the Wii U isn't trying to be a big media hub of social networking, and so forth. You wouldn't believe how many people are still sore about that aspect of the PS4 and Xbone, even when it's practically optional. Then you have the Kinect 2.0... So yeah, I like my Wii U, but I would really like a PS4 sometime soon, but after I would finish Killzone: Shadow Fall and some PSN games... Not sure what else exactly. Saturnine Tenshi
I'd skip both the PS4 and Xbone and stick to PC and WiiU if I didn't enjoy JRPGs so much. I'm sure I'll need to pick up a PS4 eventually for the JRPGs.

I think i'm in the same boat. 80% of my gaming is done on the PC, with the Wii U, 3DS and Vita picking up the slack. Most of the games that are available on PS3/4 are available on my preferred platform (PC); yet i can't shake this feeling of wanting the new shiny thing in the PS4. Killzone might be fun to play with my brother and work friend, but aside from that i'm not sure there's anything that interests me for a good while. The Witness is a ps4 exclusive right? Or is that a timed-exclusive?
jayc4life
The Witness is a PS4 exclusive right? Or is that a timed-exclusive? The Witness is a timed-exclusive on PS4, it'll eventually come out on other formats. I've still not made up my mind on new consoles yet. If I'm going to get one at all, it'll be late next year when the catalog of games and services expands a bit more (sup Gaikai?), but until then, my PC and PS3 will still serve me well. Just bought a 3DS on Black Friday too so I've no shortage of sources for entertainment. Pokemon's probably the only first-party title that I particularly care about from Nintendo, so while that'll never get a "main" game in the series on Wii U, the only compelling reason to buy one for me would be Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which I can already just get on my 3DS now, as well as the not-sure-if-announced-yet Monster Hunter 4 localisation. FMW
Yo, I have an amazon gift card that has "old DS game you missed when it came out" written all over it. Of my current list of candidates, does anyone here have particular preferences or reservations? I can afford exactly one of the following: Dragon Quest IV Dragon Quest V Dragon Quest VI Dragon Quest IX Lunar Knights Kirby Canvas Curse Kirby Mass Attack
Saturnine Tenshi
Stay away from Lunar Knights. Canvas Curse was neat, even if I sucked at it.

Mal
PS3's emulation baby steps. It'll happen sooner or later (Soonest might be about five years) and it'll be a good day
Faiblesse Des Sens
Emulating the cell processor is going to be an absolute nightmare. It's definitely going to be far off to get anything playable running. It is open source which is very very good for a project like this.
Mal
Yeah, the cell processor will be a bitch but it'll be done. With that said, is it safe to say that the PS4 would be easier to emulate? Parts wise, it is normal.
deanb
With the PS4 it would be less emulation and more a case of virtualization. Parts wise it's pretty on-par with current computers, so emulating that would be a pointless PITA (a bit like trying to emulate an old Dell on your current PC to run Windows XP, why bother?). So theoretically it'll be simpler, but it wouldn't be emulation.

Strangelove
What's the consensus on gamers being almost completely devoid of creativity when it comes to their hobby? Lots of people bitch about game covers, about tshirts, about the way characters look, but when they try to do their own version, its just as bad. A lot of clothing that gamers make for other gamers tends to be absolutely terrible, but it seems people just like it to support the idea, not because its good. Lots of terrible fanmade tshirts out there on the internet, just bad. And even worse game covers. So so bad. The FFX cover I just posted is actually one of the better ones. Anyways, I just kind of hate when gamers try to make their own version of shit. Also - gender switching in cosplay. or when they mix 2 things together. I hate it. I hate Hello Kitty Darth Vader as much as I hate female Ryu. Just don't fuck with it. Its difficult enough to make an accurate costume and be the shape and size for it, you dont gotta fuck it up with your shit too. The funny thing is that I dont mind this sort of thing if its somewhat official, like Lego Marvel or something like that.
Mister Jack
I'm actually more bothered by all the needless Lego crossovers than I am by most fan content. Edited March 17, 2014 by Mister Jack
Strangelove
But that's all Lego is now. If they couldnt crossover, theyd be out of business. You basically hate Lego now.
Mal
Next thing you tell me is that visual mods are bad... well, okay, some of them are quite bad with Skyrim housing some of the worst. With regards to physical products, I can't say I understand why people make their own covers since at this point, who gives a damn? Are you telling me that people have the case displayed with the flat side facing out? I can somewhat understand the spine since at times they don't all line up but yeesh... What do you have to say about official, fan-made products? These kinds are made by fans and get voted by fans. They usually turn out pretty good. A similar concept is found on sites like TeeFury and such. As for cosplay. Why does it bother you that much? They made the costumes. They dealt with all the problems of production. Anyways, since you mentioned Hello Kitty... best crossover. Do not deny it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKyRSq1frFs
Strangelove
Im just a hater I guess. But honestly, as far as game merch goes, the japanese are way better at it than all the other countries. Maybe it's because japanese games seem to always be tongue in cheek or they always seem to not take themselves so seriously, but they can get away with almost anything. In comparisons are those stupid Mass Effect hoodies. I have no idea if they even came out or not. Just terrible. As for cosplay, I guess its a sense of humor thing for me. I dont find cardboard boba fett funny at all. If you cant do it right, leave it alone.
TheFlyingGerbil
Did any of you play Two Brothers? It seems to have had mixed reviews, but I sent them an email to see if it was coming out on other formats still and I got this reply: Yes! Mac, Wii U, PS4/Vita... but this is being handled by an outside studio to ensure high quality and that we can proceed with our next game which is a 3D RPG in the style of the Mother series. -Andrew Sounds like the original was a good idea, but needed a bit of polishing up so hopefully the ports realise the original's full potential. BUT, how freaking cool does a mother-style 3D RPG sound? Hopefully they'll have more experience for their second game and it will be as good as one short sentence makes it sound. Alex Heat
And even worse game covers. So so bad. The FFX cover I just posted is actually one of the better ones. I only bother to make a cover if I bought a used game that came in a generic case (if it has a case at all) with no cover art. No point otherwise. Even then, it's just a pretty picture on the cover (sometimes fanart, sometimes official art), the title on the spine and a logo on the back (since I don't really need to be sold on a game I already own). And sometimes I just do it for shits and giggles. Like so:
TheMightyEthan
@TFG: This is the first I've even heard of Two Brothers... Re: Covers: I'm with Alex, I only ever print covers if I got a game used with a plain box, but even then I always wan't the actual retail cover. Although some games have pretty terrible covers that I can totally see wanting the non-retail one (but again, I'd only ever do it if I got the game with a plain cover to start with).
