They've already taken the servers offline for Dark Souls 1-3 so they seem to be taking it pretty seriously. Which is a first because Dark Souls on PC has always had a problem with hackers being able to fuck up your game with hacked items and shit like this. I can only assume that Elden Ring's imminent launch is the main reason for this.

This one goes way beyond messing up your game. With this exploit hackers could actually brick your PC, run malware, or even steal your identity so yeah, it's definitely in From's best interest not to sit on their hands this time.

Yes, I know what remote code execution is lol.

Apparently the knowledge of how to actually exploit the vulnerability isn't fully out in the wild yet and  those who do know are only using it to spread awareness for now, though. So there's at least that.

Also the game is still a month away and online functionalities aren't exactly something that would fall under last minute polish or a day one patch so their network programmers might actually be in a position get this fixed in time for launch so this doesn't necessarily mean a delay is inevitable. God I fucking hope they don't have to delay the PC version lmao...

Pricing details have been announced for Death Stranding Director's Cut on PC. 40$ and a 10$ upgrade for owners of the original. Color me surprised, I was honestly expecting something terrible like full price and barely any discount. Definitely gonna grab it day one then.

Kinda funny to see them handling this so well right on the heels of IOI completely fucking up the Steam launch of Hitman 3, which should've been an easy slam dunk for them lol.

Ubisoft has doubled down on selling NFTs even though everyone hates it but don't worry. They have officially said the only reason you don't like it is because you don't understand it.

What I love about this is that, by their logic, their own developers must not understand it either because they hate it too. Couldn't possibly be that everyone understands just fine and simply thinks it's fucking shit...

So far the only major technical issue from Cyberpunk I've had so far is the last couple bits of the robot taxi questline arbitrarily failing. Its annoying but I can tell the situation has improved somewhat compared to watching someone try to stream it at launch and the game just melting.

Also I have a penchant for wandering into higher leveled areas and wondering why I die so much.

RIP John V Cyberpunk :_:)7

Glad to see they're finally taking this seriously. These games have been plagued with hackers for years now. Unsurprisingly, they're prioritizing Elden Ring so hopefully that means the launch won't be affected by this. But everything else is going to remain offline for now.

Project Shaz

This title is the latest multiplayer action game from God Eater development staff.

Got really excited there for a moment, before reading the "multiplayer" part, and that it's being made in an engine designed for multiplayer games... 😭

Some of you may remember that I played the hell out of Nioh 2. I have hundreds and hundreds of hours in it and even now I'll still pick it up once in a while. Well, I tried the Wo Long PS5 demo to see how the gameplay compares and I came away with the following conclusions.

1) This is more of an answer to Sekiro than Dark Souls. While you can still block, it only takes a few blocked hits to leave you staggered and so this game strongly encourages you to get used to timed parries. Not only will parrying open up an attack window for you, but it will boost your spirit meter and drain your enemy's. More on this later.

2) Combat is simplified compared to Nioh. While you can still equip two ranged and two melee weapons, you don't have light and heavy attack buttons anymore. Instead you have normal attacks and spirit attacks, which cost spirit meter and do heavy damage to enemy spirit meters. Weapon skills are tied to individual weapons rather than your own skill tree. No stance system either.

3) Fewer stats to level up. You have five stats to put your points into rather than eight. They basically just combined two stats into one for some of these.

4) A much bigger emphasis on casting magic spells. In Nioh, magic was a consumable resource that had to be recharged at checkpoints. In Wo Long, magic is unlimited as long as you have enough spirit energy and your morale level is high enough. More on this in a bit.

5) No stamina meter. Instead you have the spirit meter. It starts at 0 and can go positive or negative depending on actions. Landing attacks and parrying successfully give you positive energy, which you can spend on magic spells or spirit attacks. Dodging, blocking, and getting hit build up negative energy. If your energy goes completely negative, it leaves you staggered and open to attacks. It doesn't take many hits to get staggered either so you really want to get good at parries. On the plus side, your enemies also have spirit meters you can take advantage of to set them up for deathblows. In theory, if you keep attacking aggressively and manage to parry any attempted counterattacks, you can keep your combo going forever without ever getting tired. This is easier said than done, though.

6) There's a morale system, and this one is interesting. Morale is a mechanic that both gives you and your enemies passive buffs depending on how high it is. It goes as high as level 20, at least in the demo. Killing enemies raises morale. Dying resets it. However, when you reach a checkpoint or kill a mini-boss you can plant a flag that will permanently raise your morale and prevent it from going below a minimum rank even after dying. The boss morale is level 20, so this encourages level exploration to plant enough flags to permanently raise your own morale to 20 and put you on even ground. I like this mechanic.

7) There's a jump button! Also, drinking healing potions is very slow, and it kinda feels like you have to be standing still for the input to even register. I get what they're going for but I'm not a fan. They're already getting lots of feedback about this so hopefully they change it in the full release.

I imagine the full game will be rebalanced since the same thing happened with the Nioh 2 demo, but I'm pretty much already committed to buying this.

I tried the demo, but wasn't a fan of it, the parry/deflect works excellently against human enemies, but against creatures it was frustrating, deflect a hit and it doesn't do anything as their combo just keeps going and going and going, I'd rather deal with the ulcerated tree spirit than the tigers and the dragon thingy. Doesn't help that one of my first encounters against a tiger involved it falling down a cliff and laughing it off only for me to slip down said cliff and dying instantly. :P

The morale system was also pretty frustrating, even with the flags and the way they raise the minimum morale, I still found myself backtracking way too often just to kill weaker enemies and work my way back up, only to find that sometimes the mere act of being hit lowers morale, that some spells are tied to morale level just made it worse IMO.

I did like some of the combat systems, combining martial arts and spells with normal attacks makes for some interesting and really cool combos. The beast system is interesting, being able to choose an offensive, defensive or support role is pretty neat and should make for some fun online sessions, but overall this style of games is not for me lol.

I am loving Sekiro, but that one has a finesse, rhythm and feeling to its combat that IMO is not quite there in Wo Long.

It's a shame because it looks cool and I was looking forward to it, but after playing the demo I think it's a skip for me. :(

Watching some videos of people who know what they're doing is pretty cool though, makes it look really fun. :P
