TheFlyingGerbil
I didn't see a sonic thread which surprised me as I've read quite a bit of discussion about the games. Anyway, this is the the first trailer for the new Nintendo exclusive game Sonic: Lost Worlds IGN have seen three levels in action (but not played them). They seem positive - noting a similarity to Super Mario Galaxy but maintaining Sonic's characteristic speed. They've tweaked that too though with different levels of speed and the ability to automatically avoid small obstacles, improving the flow of levels so you don't constantly slam to a standstill. Recent games in the series seem to have been moving in the right direction after a few disasters, so do you think this could be a return to form or is it best just to dust of the classics when you want a blur of blue on your screen? Mister Jack
Being able to automatically avoid small obstacles should hopefully do a lot to improve the flow of levels. GOTTA GO FAST
Strangelove
I liked Generations and Sonic 4(ep.2) quite a bit, but the formula hasnt changed. Its just the same shit, except most of us are impressed that they have dug themselves out of mediocrity and come back to "pretty good, though entirely unoriginal". I have no idea what to do with the game series except lay off the whole "speed is the main goal" in the series and get different abilities to introduce more variety and make the games exciting, kind of like Mario games. If Mario didnt get new powers every game it would be in the same shit pile as Sonic. In other words, Id like a REAL Sonic Galaxy game.
Mister Jack
Mario might not be the best example. He hasn't had an original platformer since the first Galaxy. New hats can only suffice for so long.
TheMightyEthan
Presumably whatever 3D Mario they release for the Wii U will be a new take. That seems to be their pattern.
Mister Jack
I certainly hope so because he definitely needs a shot in the arm.
