TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I don't feel as close to my dad as I do to like my uncle on my mom's side (mom's sister's husband, so not even blood relative), and feel less of a sense of obligation to him as well. And it's not like I'm especially close to this uncle or he's some father figure or anything like that, I just feel about him like I would expect anyone would in a family that lives mostly in the same town and gets along well.
Alex Heat
My family, both immediate and extended, have called me a few choice things (like a sociopath) because I subscribed to that old adage of 'The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb' rather than the 'Blood is thicker than water' corruption. While I was growing up, it was always my friends who were supportive of me and my endeavors while I was black sheep to my family (what with my interest in nerdy things like reading, writing and video games). As a result, I only really got noticed when I did something wrong or I was particularly upset about something. Once it was confirmed that I wasn't going to kill myself or anything, it was back to business as usual. That's given me a pretty negative opinion of family in general.
TornadoCreator
I have a really positive opinion of my family. I'm extremely close to my siblings and parents, they've supported me and continue to support me to this day despite my growith disability issues and needs. I genuinely look forward to Christmas with just my family every year. I agree with the sentiment; you choose your friends, but not your family... that said, I love my family immensely and feel very lucky to have them. I realise that's not very "Angry Dome" of me, but it's the truth. Edited July 16, 2014 by TornadoCreator
TheMightyEthan
I feel very close to my mom's side of the family, but I never have with my dad's side. Honestly I don't think that side has ever been close with each other either, and with my one link to them, my dad, being rather tenuous I just never really connected with them. My sisters feel the same way.

I realise that's not very "Angry Dome" of me, but it's the truth. God, I'm so fucking jealous. My fucking mom calls me a drug addict for taking Anti-Depressants, nerve medications(not a narcotic or abusive), and a pain patch(a narcotic, but it's a partial agonist...it's not as abusive on your receptor), I also take vicodin now and again. I have Dx from multiple doctors, my xrays/mris show that my discs in my back and neck are fucked up. Been dealing with for almost a decade....but alas, I'm just a "drug addict" I am happy for you though :-)! It should be like that. Family SHOULD be supportive. But some people are afraid of what they don't understand. And "nerve pain/nerve damage" isn't always immediately visible. @Ethan. I'm closer to my mom's side too...and that shows how fucked my family relations are XD. My father was a drug addicted abusive asshole. My mom at least doesn't attack me....so, that's a plus. bahaha Edited July 16, 2014 by Vecha

staySICK
godammit. Got Dead Rising 3 off ebay, double checked everything but the address during the purchase confirmation, apparently while Paypal has my current, ebay still had my old. Went by previous address, new tenant says she returned the package, now gotta work with seller and figure everything out. stupid stupid stupid.
TheFlyingGerbil
So glad I pay extra for Amazon Prime next day delivery. Got an email at 6.30pm today: "Your package may arrive one to two business days late". I've been expecting it all day as it was marked as dispatched yesterday and all today the tracking' s been saying it should arrive today. Of course with it being marked as dispatched almost as soon as I ordered it I cant cancel it I feel like when I chose standard delivery on something with an estimate of, for example 3 - 5 business days I don't mind if it's a little late. But If I'm paying specifically for next day I'm peeved when it's not here, especially as letting me know at 6.30pm is absolutely useless and it still says on amazon's tracking page that it's expected today (it's ten to eleven at night so that's obviously not happening). Kind of annoyed as well that I just got the email. If I'd paid for next day I'd have wanted a refund on the extra charge, but since it's a yearly prime subscription I don't know what I want. I'm sure I'll end up doing and getting nothing.
Mal
You have the right to complain to Amazon. They in turn will be more pissed at their carriers. At that point it will be between Amazon (and you) and whoever was the carrier. I remember I did a brief gig with OnTrac and they are super strict on their drivers on getting the vans or trucks cleared (not easy). Even more so with the 1 day shipping packages (they were separate from the regular stuff).
deanb
Yeah I hear Amazon are pretty good with complaints.

staySICK
I've actually never had to use amazon customer service, just realised that. Still haven't gotten that copy of Dead Rising, thinking of writing off that $30 and look for another one. Maybe I can make that back if the first shows up. CorgiShinobi
Amazon Customer Service is really good, in my experience. I've had to call a few times and the only major one was when my "The Last of Us: Survival Edition" (you know, an actual limited edition) didn't arrive and I saw in the tracking it arrived in town, but immediately was sent back. Ultimately I believe UPS broke it. The "Return to Sender" status was a few minutes after it was "Received by Carrier." Went in-between who was telling the truth and who was lying, but I figured since the UPS guys were so damn defensive, I assume they figured someone did it on their end but obviously didn't want to admit it. Amazon offered to attempt to send out another copy, but I thought it would be nearly impossible to find one so I took my money back and got a leftover pre-order copy from GameStop. staySICK
I don't know that the seller would offer one, and it's their right as it got shipped to the address he received. It's completely my fault he got the wrong one.
TheMightyEthan
Oh, I didn't realize that was the problem, I forgot seeing you mention that on Twitter. Didn't it get returned to him though?
staySICK
According to person living at my old address, she sent it back. Last I messaged the seller he hadn't got it back yet. They do have my current address and said they'd message me if it got sent out again, and even said they'd contact the person living at the old address if it didn't come back. For all I know tenant opened it and sold the game to gamestop or somewhere. Edited August 21, 2014 by staySICK
Mal
So the landlord got paid gardener to come in to trim the "backyard" every week or so. Motherfuckers tossed my hanging orchid. It an orchid mounted to a branch and has a fucking metal hook on it. It is by random chance that it is there along a bush? Did they not fucking see the other plants in the vicinity? I have no idea where I will get another one. The only place I know is all the way up in SLO. The orchid guy in the local big farmers market doesn't seem to be the type to do that kind of stuff. Hell, he fucking dyes his orchids. God fucking damn it gardeners. I almost guarantee that they hardly or doesn't speak English so I have no idea if I can even vent to them the next time they come around. Bleh. Whatever. It's just a plant... that I was looking forward to bringing back to health after getting scorched by the heat down here (It was hanging by the building. 100 degree + sun ray on a building = damaged plant). I'm done. I just needed to vent. Edit: Don't punch walls. Especially if you purposely aim for a hard spot (corner) so you punch a hole into the drywall. I think I broke something... TheMightyEthan
Doorframes are good for punching, they don't break easily and your brain knows they're gonna be hard and automatically pulls the punch a little.
Mal
Yeah... I pulled it just enough to concentrate it to my pinkie knuckle.
TheFlyingGerbil
Don't you just get more annoyed if you punch something because you haven't solved the original problem but now you're in pain and have a broken wall or other thing that you need to spend time and money fixing. Mind you I'm sure you don't need me telling you it's an unhealthy way to deal with anger.
Mal
I was in a shitty mood to begin with but yeah. I'm finding out that I'm just not healing as fast as I used to (Children's bodies are quite remarkable in being surprisingly robust). I'm still rational enough to punch a door frame to avoid a hole in a wall. Maybe the house will collapse during the next earthquake. Who knows. Either way, it just feels better to punch something or do something physical. It's odd. I think I got worse with time while my older brother got better with time. I don't think I would attack someone though...
TheFlyingGerbil
It seems weird to me that you can think rationally enough to decide what to hit but not to not hit. Mind you I have a really unhealthy coping mechanism for my own aggression, so I have no room to comment. I'm just too much of a skinflint to risk needing to spend money. I guess there's nothing wrong with wanting to punch someone as long as you don't act on it? I'm guessing it would be someone close to you too which wouldn't be very nice to deal with afterwards.
