Mister Jack
Oof. Looks like they're charging for multiplayer now. On the plus side, plus memberships will still get you free games.
TheMightyEthan
Pretty sure they just announced you need a Plus subscription for multiplayer. "Non-Plus members can still play singleplayer games for free."
deanb
Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of people with confused tweets on the implications of what was said in that segment. Kinda hoping it's not true, though I do most of my MP on PC.
TCP
That sucks but on the other hand, if you have a PlayStation console and don't have Plus, you're doing it wrong. Edited June 11, 2013 by The Cowboy Poet

TheMightyEthan
Yeah, Sony wins hands down. MS put forth a good effort compared to the train-wreck that was the announcement, but Sony just hit it out of the park.
Mister Jack
That was amazing. Sony brought everything I hoped to see and even some things I didn't expect to see. I am completely blown away.
Mal
I think the price in ways do hint at paid multiplayer? That is really the only thing I'm confused about. Other than that (Not like its a deal breaker...), it was great.
Mister Jack
I think there is paid multi now for PS4 games, which is kind of a bummer, but at least they aren't getting rid of any of the current plus benefits.
TheMightyEthan
Well if MS continues the free games thing into the Xbone the value advantage of PSN will diminish significantly. At least Sony confirmed that you don't need PS+ to use media apps like Netflix.
Waldorf and Statler
2 free games a month. That's nice, but PS+ has offered better deals for a while and still offers free games every now and then. And even so, the no DRM or online connectivity forcing is just OVERkill. It's like if they told you your dog died vs your entire family. I'm curious bout Gaikai.

Even if it's permanent, they have to give us better games than Halo 3.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, don't get me wrong, Sony won the conference hands down. I'm just saying, the free games from Live would negate one of PSN's primary advantages.
Waldorf and Statler
I'm too giddy from the absolute trolling against Microsoft to care right now imho. Tomorrow once I calm down I'll think more rationally.
Mister Jack
Even if Sony is charging for multi now, they're still letting you use things like Netflix for free. As far as I can tell, MS still intends to make you pay for that.
Waldorf and Statler
MS would charge you to gloriously look at their console if they could.
deanb
Yeah, from what I'm to understand the XBL free games thing is only running until the launch of the Xbox One, so that's like ...10 free games? And so far, so old and shitty.
toxicitizen
Man, Sony fucking killed it. The guys at MS must be scrambling pretty hard right about now. Edited June 11, 2013 by FLD
Mister Jack
Considering how MS has been smelling its own farts ever since they announced all those horrible restrictions, something tells me they aren't as worried as they should be. toxicitizen
To be fair, they have fucking TV on their side.
Waldorf and Statler
I loved the chatbox on gametrailers when Sony was talking about tv, music, movies and social stuff. People were all "lol MS got done with this already, Sony fails!" and similar comments. Really people? Microsoft spends a whole conference on that and they're in the clear, while Sony spends 20 mins and they are evil incarnate?

It's a coping mechanism for the fallen, when they have little to hold onto. It's like they've stood by their king forever, but now that they've turned around to face him on his throne, he's actually sitting on a chamber pot wiping his ass with the end of their cloak.
