Mister Jack
You know it just occurred to me. Nintendo has no choice but to cut the Wii U price now. They cannot possibly expect to succeed when the much more powerful console of your competitor only costs 50 dollars more.
Waldorf and Statler
the problem with that, as with the juan, is the gimmick peripheral. in this case the Nintentablet
Mister Jack
Well then they'd better learn how to operate when selling at a loss because 350 is looking like way too much for the Wii U all of a sudden.
Mal
Now that Sony made it loud and clear that they support used games and Microsoft is doing their thing, how the retail landscape going to even look like? It currently look like it'll be one odd landscape.
Mister Jack
I wouldn't be surprised if stores started trying to emphasize the ps4 over the Xbone to undecided shoppers.
CorgiShinobi
Well, again, there's barely any incentive for Xbone consumers to go to a retail store to buy their games. The only perk is the faster install time of a disc over standard Internet speeds. Unless retailers sell discs for less, there isn't anything else because those discs are for installation purposes rather than a PS4 disc which is your actual game that can be handed off to a friend, traded in, or sold online. I'm sure GameStop will have Xbone games, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're tucked away in the corner of the store where old handheld games usually find themselves. If they're not going to become part of your store income, why promptly display them?
Mister Jack
I'm starting to see people calling Playstation fans hypocrites for accepting a multiplayer paywall when they demonized Live Gold. I almost posted this in Innernet Pet Peeves but it's only been a few hours so let's just think about this for a minute. Yes, you have to pay for multi on the PS4. Yes, it's kind of disappointing. After all, multi was free on the ps3. However, this does not mean that they are ripping us off the same way Microsoft rips us off. What do you get with PS Plus? Tons of discounts in the store and free games to download every month. And these are often fairly good and recent games, too. Saint's Row 3 is coming to the service soon, and that game has only been out for about a year and a half. That might seem like a long time until you remember that they're giving it to you for free as a benefit of the service. That will still be happening with a PS4 subscription. Even without multiplayer being a part of it, it's still well worth the cost. What do you get with Live gold? Well, you get multiplayer. You also get the right to access netflix and hulu (PS4 will still do this for free). You also get a shitload of ads all over the place. Oh, and I guess now you get Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3, which came out in 2009 and 2007. Hooraaay. Even if free multiplayer is no longer an advantage of PS Plus over Live Gold, it still has plenty of other reasons to justify 50 bucks a year. They designed the service so that it really feels like it ENHANCES the playstation rather than holds it hostage.
TheFlyingGerbil
ffs Nintendo. 2014, 2014, 2014. I guessed when I bought my Wii U it wouldn't have great 3rd party support but I didn't realise it would be so FUCKING SHIT from Nintendo. When I saw that splash of all their franchises I actually managed to get excited for one second, then they just all appeared in SSB. Obviously they remember they exist so put them in their own god damned games. Absolutely no mention of the new Zelda game. Just WWHD - I loved that game but this is not selling systems. It's not even selling me. I'm sure in the flesh it looks good, but in these videos it doesn't look any better than the version I have sitting upstairs with my gamecube and they've elready said it's a packaged retail game. It needs to be a £10 download. Zelda U must be abolutely years off and at this rate it won't have a bigger audience than the 3.5 million mugs that were hoping for some good news today. Even the bloody 3D mario was not the right thing at all. Where was the wow from it that Galaxy supplied? It looks less impressive than the wii 3D games and is basically a 3D version of the side scrolling platformers they've been absolutely bombarding us with. A new suit is not brand new next gen must buy gameplay. I've actually got a knot in my stomach - I don't know if it is disappointment, regret, anger... all I know is I'm sick of defending Nintendo to my own heart and have flat out given up on defending them to anyone else. How can I in good conscience?

Yep, doesn't look any better at all. I do agree it's not a system-seller though.
TheFlyingGerbil
Maybe I;m just not seeing it but I don' even think the jump is as big a difference as OoT to OoT3D was. Maybe it's because it's cel shaded. Might just be that I;m a bit bitter that Ninty seemed to treat that as the highlight of the direct when it should have been a passing note. Hot Heart
Not really excited by E3 at all, but it was fairly good news in that it I can stick with PC, then should I ever want a next-gen console (which wouldn't be for a long while anyway), the decision is straightforward. All the games that interested me were multi-plat (if not PC, then current gen) or too far off to care about.
TCP
There was a difference between OoT and OoT3D? lolololIt's hard to tell through choppy, low quality, streaming video. But I'm assuming this will be similar to the Sony HD ports. I'm more curious as to if the two dungeons that were cut at the last minute from Wind Waker will be in. Mr. GOH!
I will never re-buy an HD version of a game I already own, unless the HD version is under ten bucks. This is because I am not a gullible sucker. Edited June 11, 2013 by Mr. GOH!
Pojodin
The only exception for me was the ICO collection. That was the one time where graphics and framerate made a significant enough difference to warrant a purchase.
TheFlyingGerbil
many of the games featured tablet/smartphone apps to assist people playing on the consoles. Has there been any mention of whether any of these apps will be made available on the vita, maybe via playstation mobile?

Mal
Seem to have a bunch fo QTEs, which isn't exactly a bad thing either. It just depends on how they go about it. I'm actually excited for this Final Fantasy since it takes pages from Kingdom Hearts (in a way), which Square Enix should of done years ago or even have KH takes on after FF after it revealed that batle system style. Now to wait for more mundane gameplay videos. It'll give a better impression of how the game will be like. Also I hope these behemoths and such are mid to late game enemies. It sort of annyos me when they bring them out early and often.

TheMightyEthan
I'm sorry I can't drop this, but you can't tell me there's no discernible difference: That's a lot more than just the same assets at higher resolution. Faiblesse Des Sens
FFXV/VersusXIII looked nice until Malicious mentioned Kingdom Hearts. :< Why the face? The only reason KH3 was even announced was because FFv13 (now 15) is finally coming out so Nomura can start another project.
