Getting closer to 100 games complete, I should find a tricky game to save for that.

I actually have an odd liking of huge amounts of collectibles. Assassin's Creed, Prototype, Lego games, they were all pretty fun to get all the items in.

I don't get gamerscore. I mean, sure, I guess it's fun and all to unlock achievements, but sometimes I get the feeling that some people obsess over them to the point where they forget why they began playing games in the first place.

I totally do this. I have to actively block out achievements and force myself to enjoy games on the first play through.

It sucks that AC: Brotherhood has online achievements, because I have gotten all of the campaign Cheevos. Even the stupid 101 Borgia Flags. Those were easy once you bought the maps, but such a pain to actually do. Way easier than the Feathers in AC2, which gave you no maps to use, plus they were scattered in multiple cities instead of one big city. Hmm, only seeing 5 FCs bothers me, because I have over 42,000 gamerscore. I've gotta have a ton of games of 750 GS each.

just got mah 1000/1000 on Enslaved. I'll get around to the DLC eventually, but the backlog has to go, followed by Vanquish's achievements, and then DEADLY PREMONITION.

 

I dread the idea of having to go fight the Killalon for the last 50 in Lost Odyssey.

Nothing wrong with extrinsic motivation driving you to get something done, most of life works out that way. The idea that only intrinsic value should motivate you only useful if we're having an idealism war.

Why is it ridiculous to put forth extra effort for an achievement but it's not ridiculous to put forth extra effort for master materia or whatever special reward is in the game for an ultra-hard challenge? You can say "Well master materia is useful" but ultimately it's meaningless, because you can finish the game just fine without it. The fun is in the journey, not the destination.

If I have 1000/1000 on a game, and you struggled to beat it on normal mode, then yes, I am totes better than you will evah be.

Yeah, the earliest Xbox games were the best for gamerscore. I got 1000 on NHL 2k6 in about 30 minutes. I also rented and beat Peter Jackson's King Kong for another 1000. I tried simming 20 years in Madden but it just took so dang long. I didn't realize that 400 points were that hard to come by back then.
