TCP
I'm going to wait for Halo 5 to be free on XBL, right before the launch of Xbox Two. jk Microsoft will be out of the console business at that point.
TheMightyEthan
I've always found Halo to be shallow, underwhelming, and overrated. But if you like shit games, then sure, Ethan, go ahead and buy a 500 dollar console. Do it! SEE HOW MUCH I CARE! What was this generation's best shooter again? TheFlyingGerbil
has there been any decent "intent to buy" polls from after the presentation anywhere? I know ours is a landslide, but TCP (I think) said his local store had overwhelming support for xbox one and amazons preorders are heavily favouring MS as well (though I think I read that pre-E3). TheFlyingGerbil
well that shows that e3 actually made a difference - the only strange thing is the xbox was already looking pants before e3 so it must have really just hammered it home for the xbox fans. TheMightyEthan
I actually thought Xbone looked significantly better after MS's presser than it did after the reveal (except the price was too high), but then Sony's presser blew it out of the fucking water.
Chewblaha
Six of those games that shit hockey team fan listed all have their gameplay and combat inspired by a game that got the combat part of Kill Switch right. It's sad to say that Gears of War, while being an absolutely awful game, is the game that got third person cover shooting right with the wrong set of weapons. Then a certain sci-fi shooter named Mass Effect came in and absolutely shat the bed. It's also pretty amazing that people consider Fallout 3 to be a viable shooter. Any game that lets you point the barrel of a gun one inch from an NPC's nose and can take that attack away from you because you rolled a one is absolutely stupid. Goddamn Mass Effect and FO3 have some terrible gameplay. It fucking pains me to think I thought those games were amazing once. TheMightyEthan
Does anyone consider Fallout to be viable as a shooter?
Chewblaha
Does anyone consider Fallout to be viable as a shooter? At least New Vegas is an actual FPS.
CorgiShinobi
I'm confident that, eventually, Microsoft will redesign the Xbone into a more consumer friendly console that I would be willing to call "Xbox 1.5." It's only a matter of time until the COD brats get upset at Microsoft because one day, when they really wanted to play, the servers will be down. That chunk of plastic and metal will just be sitting their, mocking their lil' rage-filled faces. Just imagine, the Xbone being literally shut down during an event similar to the PSN attacks. Umm, that's an inherent problem to online shooters, not Xbone specific. Try playing CoD on PS4 when PSN is down.
Waldorf and Statler
See Ethan I have a similar love for Halo. My friends and I are disappointed in ourselves. That's because we love Halo, we really do, but for some weird reason Halo 4 didn't do it for us. And it wasn't its fault. Graphics were better, story was interesting and the live action prequel was fantastic too. Mutliplayer was fun too. I genuinely think we're done with Halo as a franchise though. But Destiny. Oh man. Destiny has gotten me excited for a shooter like nothing has in a huge while. Last time I got this excited was Halo 3. Maybe Bungie has something 343 doesn't, or maybe I really was done with Halo. I'll never know.
Hot Heart
Graphics were better, art style was worse. We really need to play some multiplayer though!

Umm, that's an inherent problem to online shooters, not Xbone specific. Try playing CoD on PS4 when PSN is down. I mean the servers for a Xbone to check-in; for it to play any games. That's the system, right? It checks-in with Microsoft after 24 hours and you've got games for the day. What happens when Microsoft has issues? Normally that means no online and marketplace, but this is a console heavily dependent on connectivity for both parties. I used COD kids/brats as an example because at this point they're one of the remaining groups siding with Xbone. I'm sure there's a split between the Sony console players, but 360 has always been the "COD machine" in general.
TheMightyEthan
Graphics were better, art style was worse. Emphasis added. I totally agree with this. I wish they hadn't felt the need to redesign the look of the Covenant and the human vehicles and weapons. Everything else I thought worked great, but the weird-looking Covenant and Pelicans and Warthogs and guns were quite off-putting.
Faiblesse Des Sens
But the art style wasn't very good in the first place. I thought Halo 4 was an improvement especially with the transforming stuff and the updated looks. Then again, I'm also not invested in the series. Hot Heart
For me, Reach found the right balance. Things were still distinctive without being garish. Not that I ever disliked the overall look of the older games at all.
TheMightyEthan
IMO Halo 1 (or Halo: Anniversary) has the best art style. I'm sick of gritty. The only caveat I have there is that in Anniversary they made the Forerunner stuff way too busy. I did like the look of the Forerunner stuff in Halo 4, it was really just the Covenant races and human vehicles that bothered me (even the weapons I got used to pretty quickly. Saturnine Tenshi
It all seemed like fairly generic science fiction military stuff to me.
