TheMightyEthan
What program are you using to draw?
MetalCaveman
Krita, it's free and it's fairly easy to use, decent feature set too, also, it's free.
MetalCaveman
My first cosmic abomination! Doing some warmup doodles while listening to Revocation's The Outer Ones and this was the end result. Need to improve my shadows and details on organic monsters, but this being the first time I try something like this and it being something that happened kinda spontaneously, I'm happy with the result.
MetalCaveman
Trying to draw different kinds of flowers including some less realistic stuff.
MetalCaveman
Not to happy with the shadows but these are still the best trees I've drawn in my life \m/ \m/ 1
TheMightyEthan
They're better than any trees I've ever drawn.
MetalCaveman
It was supposed to be a simple exercise on how to draw rooms in one-point perspective, but this is what happens when you listen to Tool while drawing. 1

TheMightyEthan
Dude, I think there's definite progress there. Besides, faces are like the hardest thing to draw, and it's only been a month.
MetalCaveman
Thanks, it helps to get an outside perspective. I'll see where I am by the end of November.
MetalCaveman
Added a tiny bit of colour. Still struggling with hair and nose/mouth proportions.
TheMightyEthan
One bit of advice an art teacher once gave me, that sounds ridiculous but turns out it's true, is that your eyes are halfway between the bottom of your chin and the top of your head. I definitely feel like you're improving, that one is a lot better than the one from October.
TheFlyingGerbil
It looks digital, so it may be worth doing each feature on its own layer and then you can play around with size and position easily to see what looks good. 1
MetalCaveman
@TheMightyEthan Thanks! I'll keep that advice in mind. Yup, it's digital, I'll play around with the different layers and see how that goes. \m/ \m/
Mal
From what I've seen from art streams, lot of them don't shy away from resizing (less so), rotating and moving parts of what they have drawn. For lines/strokes at an odd angle, it might help to rotate the canvas to make it a bit easier to do (it helps to have this rotating function as a hotkey or two so it's quick to do).
MetalCaveman
Playing around with layers and some more realistic (kinda) eyes. 1
TheMightyEthan
Holy shit, the eyes make all the difference.

TheMightyEthan
That's legit awesome. The shading especially is fantastic, it really gives it a sense of depth.
MetalCaveman
Thanks! \m/ \m/
MetalCaveman
Usually I shade with my right hand, this time I used my left hand. The darker shade was done by simply duplicating the layer, I think it looks better, though it also highlights some mistakes and some stuff that could be done better. Picked the wrong template, hence the large amount of empty space.
MetalCaveman
https://i.imgur.com/rqrnmKh.jpg For some reason I can't get this thing to show up. Anyway, here's an attempt at the arachnotron from DOOM Eternal, need to clean it up add details and shadows, not a bad start though, IMO. MetalCaveman
Different eyes and some doodles because I don't know what to draw/practice next. 1
MetalCaveman
Been working on this for the last few days, took a long time just to get the outline, and as you can see it's still missing a ton of details and proper colour. Still, not bad for me. Original can be found here: https://slayersclub.bethesda.net/en/media#wallpapers A ton of zoom in, zoom out, draw tiny line, zoom in, zoom out, erase, zoom in, draw line, etc. I wish Krita had a better reference image tool.
Mal
Anatomy for weebs by probably one of the best sources there is. The creator translate the real world anatomy to what you would see so you too can try. Maybe one day someone can marvel at your anatomy work (I know I have on certain stuff, smut included, where the smut kind of takes a secondary seat...). There's English subs and loads more material on her Twitter/Pixiv. More stuff if you feel like paying for extra stuff. I've been doodling again. Maybe I'll make a concerted effort now since, really, it comes down to practice practice practice. I've known it to be true for a long ass time but you got to practice it to be true.
